A video example of the thing's you should NOT do when working with a sign language interpreter and deaf person in a job interview! log onto www.interpreteraware.com for more info!!!!
I'm not an official interpreter but I'm trying to learn some signs to help interpret at my friend's job interview. This is the only video with job interview vocabulary! Would be great if you could make a video with job interview common signs
@ 4:27 I almost spat my tea out!!! This actually DOES happen; it's been asked of me before. I took a company to tribunal for discrimination when it was suggested that I would be a H&S risk! That A2W is being discussed in the interview is ridiculous - yet it does happen. We often end up making sure hearing people are comfortable and reassured, rather than getting on with the task of doing a good interview. Grrr... And carrying on the convo with the terp after REALLY DOES HAPPEN!!
I should probably add here, that I haven't actually told any of my managers about these. I really should! Oh and I'm not a translator - but I know enough BSL to help out and I'm the only one willing to do so!!
i know this a demo video, i can't believe people are stupid enough to act this way. I've just started to sign and sometimes we have interpreter and never done anything like this
