I had a horse with severe string halt. He was so good for my farrier!! He really tried to hold it up right. He was so fun to ride and just loved the trails. People would say ...oh wow what a cool prance! Haaa. He was majestic ! It eventually got worse to where I'd skip shoeing and just used boots , and then just little rides around the yard barefoot. He loved his job of carrying me on our adventures. I had to let him go at 31. He was ready to be done. Watching that video reminded me of my ol Doc! Great memories !even through that weird issue he was fast and loved to go.
I praise you for being so understanding of his problrm. But im starting to think nobody knows exactly what stringhalt is. Ive had several different things explained to me as that, and a mare that i had supposedly had it & it was from an injury. I still dont know what it really is. And i didnt think it had anything to do w/ height...my mare was 14.3...
Years ago my horse developed it from nibbling on Russian Star Thistle in her pasture. Apparently there is an equine neurotoxin in the plant. It may be that there are also other pasture plants with similar effects.
