This video is a special release from the original Thinking Allowed series that ran on public television from 1986 until 2002. It was recorded in about 1994. It will remain public for only one week.
A founder of the movement for leaderless dream work groups, Jeremy Taylor points out that dreams are held in disrepute by mainstream institutions because they challenge closed systems of thought. He suggests that techniques such as lucid dreaming can be used for purposes of healing and overcoming addictions. Ultimately, he believes, dreams connect us with the world of nature and of God.

Jeremy Taylor is great. Fascinating discussion, and ideas about so many different areas of life. The idea of leaderless dream groups is great. Premature closure. Lucid dreaming and its possibilities.

I too followed Castañeda's guide to attain lucidity by staring at my hands. First time it happened, it was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I wish I could master my dreams to reach that level more often.

I do group lay dream work in my twice a week social skills group with children. I’d so love to put a panel together to go over all the aspects and phenomena that are disclosed, interpreted through the lens of alchemical active imagination and parapsychology.

Excellent! But please can someone help me to understand this particular aspect put forward by Jeremy ... if we are God's dream, and our own dreams are the human equivalent of God's dream, how is either the true reality? Because, presumably, a 'dream' is not usually considered to be a reality. Speaking only for myself, I'm utterly certain that most of my dreams take place in a reality that's just as valid, if not more valid, than the reality I experience when awake. It's just that I want to understand Jeremy's comment as best I can. Any polite responses will be welcome!

may be the primary driven of dream to most of the peoples came from hormonal activity which translated by pinneal gland and right hemisphere of brain the subconscious.. the dream is not always to be interpreted since some of dream came from the hormonal activity or came from subliminal event during wake up activity that infiltrated in our subconscious..

How do animals in the deep sea come up with the idea of creating light and yet they can't actually know that, because they only know darkness. We have consciousness, thoughts and dreams, we don't know exactly what they are, but we can create them. What's more, these are all things without material structures. How does a fish of the darkness know how to create light and we know how to create non-material consciousness and dreams? Of course, this is just a personal opinion

This is a simple observation. As much as l appreciate your work and believe me l do. The lack of women speakers is, to say the least, astounding. If we are to have a shift of consciousness on this planet we need to balance out the predominance of the masculine which goes without saving is, well, predominant. That's as nice a way as can say what is shockingly obvious. This is not, and l say not about political feminism it about the Feminine. If a venture, like this fails to give a voice to the Feminine what hope is there for our future any future?

Of the 5 interviewers on New Thinking Allowed, 3 are women. Many NTA videos are women speakers. Some of the most profound videos on NTA are females (Jude Currivan’s intellectual weight is an excellent example). Sometimes there are imbalances. It really doesn’t matter. What matters is the content. There are plenty of females making waves in other areas of life. The spiritualist church I attend has 75% female attendees. The two longest reigning monarchs in Britain were female, and had a combined reign of 134 years. Two of the last 4 prime ministers before Kier Starmer were female. The US is probably about to elect its first ever female president. Females have enormous privilege with spheres of power men will never have access to. Damn…. Men aren’t even allowed to have men-only clubs anymore. Please stop with this “down with the patriarchy” cry. In the West, it’s fallen already.
