Great video series. Thanks heaps. Our church wants to start using this soon. I was wondering if you can help. We use a program called pro presenter to display stuff on screen and we can send a midi from that program to lighting consoles and programs to change lights. Do you know if it’s possibly with onyx and if so how do we set up onyx to receive the midi. We will be doing it over Ethernet

Hi Rjarrod, Yes! This is totally possible with Onyx on a PC. You'll need to use a program called "RTP MIDI" to get the Network MIDI info into the PC: www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html You'll also need the MIDI module for ProPresenter, and ProPresenter needs to be running on a Mac for that to happen. Hey David, thank you so much for these videos. One issue I'm having on BOTH the visualizer and my real light set up is that my intensity FX are clearly not following a true, smooth sine wave function. The lights fire in a really sporadic, hardly synced way. They did this last night with my own show, and this morning I thought I might figure out what I was doing wrong using the vis emo. But they doing that same thing on this demo showfile too. Please help! Thanks

Hey Adam, it's hard to tell what's going on without seeing your show file (which I do for Learn Stage Lighting Labs members, if you're interested). When you're running an effect, try opening up the task manager in Windows - is anything getting maxed out? Have you tried working on another computer? It seems like there's some kind of computer issue going on if you're following the instructions and something is definitely not right!

Different modes will affect the effect differently, make sure you have the smooth sine wave (fx mode 1), also look at your Per x and Step per x which will both affect the effect also.

Is there any way to use those effects settings for something else? Mine is setup Speed on Strobe, idk how to change it

Absolutely! Just go back to any "regular" parameter (from the Intensity, Pan Tilt...etc groups), and then go back to the FX - now FX is working with the last parameter you touched.

Hey David, I recently bought some moving lights but I only want them to do certain things like move ip down, side to side and occasionally have some different movements. The only problem is at my church is that we have a projector screen right behind where the moving lights are going to be. Is there any way I can limit the movement of the lights to the space in front of the light and not behind it?

Hey Tristan, Inside a pro-grade software like Onyx, there isn't going to be a "limit" function. But, you just need to move your "center" point of your FX so that it is far from the screen., and keep other programming off the screens. Some budget moving lights do offer a "totem" function that will limit the overall movement of the light - check your manuals.
