Please do more of these elite elite standard athletes, anyone who’s talking about the inconsistency of the times and anyone who is not amazed at the workout they have just seen do not have a clue about running
@dangahagan7645
@dangahagan7645 6 лет назад
To be fair the times were pretty inconsistent, but it's hard to tell whether that's okay without more info on the workout...at the time of this workout, Chelimo was a 13:07 guy. Based on that, he should've been doing this type of workout averaging 2:07. However, the fact that they have hammer reps makes it harder to tell, and it's also difficult to know things like which reps are the hammer reps? Are all the hammer reps supposed to be the same? Are they supposed to be negative splitting every rep? All of this makes it impossible to make a general statement about their lack of consistency, without more knowledge. Either way, though, a very impressive workout!
@alexjones8545
@alexjones8545 5 лет назад
100% agreed about people not realizing how damn impressive this training is. I dare any of these people to keep up with them for more than two reps max of these 800s (most of them would be winded after the first 400m).
@kaismithley6173
@kaismithley6173 4 года назад
@@dangahagan7645 uh it's at altitude, of course they're running slower it's because he ran the 13:07 at sea level, when you're at 7000 feet of elevation your times drop drastically, also it doesn't matter if you know what the hammer reps were they knew what they were

Just saying, that 9th 800 was definitely the hardest part of the workout, no question. How they can go 63-56 at the end of that workout, I have NO IDEA. That’s amazing though, you can’t deny it

Our team took a trip to Colorado Springs over the summer and we watched them do a workout: 25 400m repeats at 61-63 seconds with a minute of rest between each rep... A MINUTE!!! And on a few of them they did close to 50 flat. Just watching them fly by us over and over again, not diminishing their pace at all, was astonishing.

Very impressive, but the "scary" part about this is that for a 2 hour marathon you need to run 2:17 for each 800 m, almost 53 times in a row and without rest. It's unbelievable how it can be done and Eliud Kipchoge was so close.
@DavidSuncuravens
@DavidSuncuravens 6 лет назад
Actually, you need to go even faster then that. 2:16:48 per 800m. That would put you on pace for 1:59:59 for a Marathon. That's 68.24 per lap on a track. 2:50/km or 4:34/mile. Guys like Kipchoge, Bekele and Mo Farah probably have VO2 Max in the 90s to run at that sort of pace.
@omgiheartpie
@omgiheartpie 6 лет назад
Kipchoge pretty much just ran 53x800m in 2:19 with 0 rest lol
@chanbros6110
@chanbros6110 5 лет назад

They were most likely raised at altitude. So this makes huge difference. When Jim Ryun first went to Colorado to see what it was like, he was hurting at 5min mile. None of these guys are in Ryun's league..so a workout by altitude trained guts shhould be considered. Certainly 2:15 isnt tough..sub 2:10 is the start of anaerobic
