Incredible how Ron just picks up a rustified, crappy & dirty bit of bent or busted tank, & knows just what it is! 13 Grant tank builds? This guy is probly the most experienced Grant builder in the world! - Well, in Straya anyway! I'll grant him that! Hehehe! Made short work of cuttin off the Aussie mods! That front bit of additional armour between the 2 final drives looks like a nifty & useful mod! - Better not throw THAT away huh? Hey Ron! - Or to anyone else that may know - That anti-grenade mesh - did they put that on only in the field, & only on Grants? It looks like such a cool mod I'd like to scratchbuild that same mesh onto my M3. I'm building an Aussie Lee tank - "Bushape". "Shut that bloody side entry door! Shut the dang door!" I yelled at the screen as the tank got flipped! Geez! I hope that door didn't get damaged! Great video!

An M3 Grant painted as 23972 was sold at the Melbourne Tank Museum auction in 2006 to R&R services and went to the UK and is currently with Kevin Wheatcroft. So this must be the original 23972. Interesting.

a long time ago I visited my father in Scotland, and while driving from the airport I saw a church with "1771" in stone above the entry, and a big notice board next to it indicating it was to be torn down, I said to him "How can they tear down a piece of history like that?" and he said "You want another 17th century church? There's one about 10 miles that way, and another about 20 miles in the other direction". Exact same idea as the Grant getting a haircut. :D

Hi Kurt, how many M3 Grant/Lee does Aus Armour actually have? During the video, at around the 11:20 mark, you said “we have another two Aussie Grants in storage”. I thought you guys had six (6), plus the old Grant farm tractor conversion, it sounds like you are saying seven (7), plus the farm tractor conversion, yes? * 1 x Grant - older static resto * 1 x Lee - older static resto * 1 x Grant - running, done by Daz and Jess * 1 x Grant - static rustoration, done by Ron * 1 x Grant - this current static resto by Ron, and * 1 x Grant - in storage, the last of the three Parker Brothers Grant. * Plus the 1 x Grant farm tractor conversion, on display * Plus a number of old cut down spare parts hulls (2, or 3 or so) in open storage on the ‘farm’ Am I missing something? Maybe you could do a WW of the storage facility? I think we would all find that very interesting, see all the bits and pieces and other hulls awaiting resto, yes? Cheers,

Narrator - How often do you get to see a tank flip upside down. Me - Once, was in the field with my entire Division. I was in the field artillery as a Radar operator (q-36), and the tankers had a new LT that was a TC, and he wanted to show how high speed low drag he was. And so when they were doing the tank track in their M1A3 Ahbrams, they hit a corner of the track doing over 50 MPH, and the treads dug into the loose rocky sandy soil, and the tank flipped. The impact buried the .50 Cal 4 feet down into the dirt, crushed the TC, killed the Driver, and injured the ammo loader. (I THINK there was a 4th person inside as well who was also injured but this was back in 98 or 99, so having a little trouble remembering.). I will say that same year we also had someone get cut in half by one of the Scout tracked vehicles our Artillery Battalion used. There are 2 doors on the back side, 1 personnel door that opens to the side, and then you can lower the entire back side of the vehicle and the guy ground guiding the tracked vehicle wasn't paying attention and when he told the people inside to drop the back, he bounced off a tree, then the entire armored door slab hit him in the upper torso, and cut him in half.
