Ron definitely has the right outlook on life, also nice "nod" to "Mr Hewes" with the "I Identify as a Foden" sign on the back of the fork LOL

Wow, Ron is a magician. The work he has done in the time he spent there has been incredible. From what he started with, to what he leaves, is out of this world. As to the actual work, you would think it came from out of someone's barn having been forgotten about, not the wreck it was. Talk about museum standard work, this was private restoration work to the highest standard! Hands down the best restoration work I've seen for years. Thanks Ron, for letting us see you work your magic on this treasured exhibit. Shame I'll never see it in the flesh, as I'm too old and decrepit to travel halfway round the world, but I would if ... Thanks Ron, once again for your outstanding work, that will go down in history, as the best example of a Grant tank after restoration. From UK.

Rons idea of having a good time is precious for a number of reasons: he fullfils an intellectual challenge by pooring all his knowledge into this project. 2: he enjoys doing it. 3. He is giving something back to history and society. Some like sitting on a beach doing nothing. Other like restoring tanks. I love the mans attitude towards life.

An M3 Grant painted as 23972 was sold at the Melbourne Tank Museum auction in 2006 to R&R services and went to the UK and is currently with Kevin Wheatcroft. So this must be the original 23972. Interesting.

Ron reminds me of my Dad and a lot about my childhood memories,My Dad was a Fitter in the RAF and he worked for Air Works in places like Saudi. He also volunteered for Duxford imperial war museum helping them put restored aircraft together ( he was actually at Duxford when the Film Battle of Britain was being filmed and he lost his generator which was destroyed in the Hanger being bombed scene ( the film crew didn’t tell anyone about the explosion being that Big ) 😳. Dad was a Engineer and did CNC stuff for Sindall and Simplex and while working there he hand built a Motorised Go-kart for me at age 11 ( my Bday ) so 1978 and at the same time he was Hand building a Hang Glider for himself from Bamboo and Polythene sheeting ( that crashed at Haverhill and I had to drive us home with Dads broken collar bone ). It didn’t deter him though because he then built a motorised Hang Glider but that was Aluminium and the proper material, he ended up using a Villiers lawnmower engine and a hand carved prop plus a frame he made himself. That actually Flew and a reporter from Cambridge Evening News was there at Bourne Airfield to photograph the event. He made other things ….. a Lambretta Li150 converted into a body and sidecar ( at first it was a car with drop down wheels but it didn’t work as well as hoped ) so Dad put a sidecar on it and that ended up being in the Scootering magazine. There were lots of other Mad inventions that Dad built
