Today's video is about an awesome program for prisoners out in Oregon called Prison Blues. It's tough, durable, affordable workwear made right here in America by inmates serving time at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institute.
Check out prisonblues.net to get in on this workwear.
Full disclosure: I have no affiliation with Prison Blues nor do i make any sort of commission from this link. I am not sponsored by them in any way.

Many thanks for putting this video out and bringing our attention to this great company. I live in Wales, UK, but I really appreciate the quality of American work wear as well as the pride that Americans take in their work and the clothes they wear for work. Also the heritage of work wear that we have somewhat lost here in the UK. Most tradesmen can be seen in cheap modern work clothes that I find very ugly. Since first watching this video I have managed to find 2 pairs of Prison Blues jeans online here in the UK. Both were brand new. I have a pair of the double knee work jeans and a pair of the 5-pocket classic jeans. One for work and one for casual wear. They are great jeans and they are wearing in very nicely indeed. The heavy weight denim feels very comfortable and I am sure they will last a good while. Thanks again for your review! Maurice

I’m sure if you reached out to them they would ship to the UK. I’m glad you were able to get your hands on a couple pairs of their pants. Thank you for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment. If you ever find a garment from them that you cannot get shipped to Wales, let me know and I’d be happy to send it over the pond for you.

You can order it through the baileys catalog which I believe makes shipping to Canada easier. You may also be able to find it in Canada. Also Prison Blues also makes Wild Ass logging jeans which are a slightly different cut but the same double front style logging jeans. Best of luck to you!

The clothing looks terrific how is a product made by prison labour competitive with that made by union labour or those that require living wage. It does make them competitive with overseas sweat shops which I suppose is the point. It is concerning though that the United States has the highest prison population in the world, the the majority of inmates, by proportion of the population being African American, often jailed for trivial offences such as those related to pot, giving the impression that this is slavery by the back door. The industrial system attached to the correctional system is vast and Prison Blues may be one of the better examples but we all remember those evil sonsofbitches that ran 'Shawshank' in the movie and it is not difficult to see how it could be corrupted.
@evergreenorganics
@evergreenorganics 5 месяцев назад
Prison Blues is a work skills program for inmates that will be returning to society. They are paid a prevailing wage for their work that they can save or give to their families. It’s a pretty awesome program. They actually reached out to me after making this video and I had the opportunity to ask them some more questions about their program than what’s available on their website. I think they’re doing good work.

Im interested in getting the rigid variant of the double front . How do they fit ? I wear a size 36 on jeans from levis and wrangler; should I order a size 36 on the prison blues or do I size up or down ?
@evergreenorganics
@evergreenorganics Месяц назад
I would get a size 38 as they will shrink in the wash a bit. If they do shrink too much, wet down the waistline and put them on for the day. They’ll stretch back out to your waist size by the end of the day. Wash on cold only and hang to dry.
@stalwartcoffeeservice1223
@stalwartcoffeeservice1223 Год назад
Have you tried out the “Wild Ass” jeans? They’re made in the same prison factory for Bailey’s but the pattern is slightly slimmer and higher waisted. I was a big fan of Prison Blues jeans for years but I find that the waist shrinks up and the legs stay a bit too wide for my liking after washing. Once I found Wild Ass Jeans, I haven’t gone back. Still right around the $40 pricepoint.
@evergreenorganics
@evergreenorganics Год назад
THANK YOU for this comment. My only gripe about the prison blues pants is the super tight waist every time I wash them. I have definitely seen Wild Ass jeans but I was not aware they were also made at EOCF. I will definitely be getting a pair of those to try.

Before washing their rigid jeans, how much bigger in the waist are they? Are we talking like half an inch off the label size, or a few inches?
@evergreenorganics
@evergreenorganics 4 месяца назад
They pretty much fit true to size before washing. Once they shrink from the was I’d say they shrink down 2”. If they shrink on you though, you can get the waist line wet and wear them for a few hours and they will expand back out. But if you wear a 32 normally I would order at least a 34.
