Im really glad I found your channel. You’re helping me get into this Hobby and pick the right stuff and I can’t thank you enough. Always stoked when you drop a video.
I enjoyed your review and test runs. This is one of your more thorough evaluations of a truck. I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy new year.
Very unique truck. Just like anything in that price range the shocks and tires need upgrading if you want to use it as a basher. Perfect car for speed runs and flat tracks. Awesome video! Great job!
Jeez Evan, where do I start? This rig is ridiculous! I like it a lot! I do think you made some valid points though, namely the tires. These most definitely need to have some foams in them in my opinion, might help with some of those brick drop landings😝! It looked like it would jump well for the average jumper, as your jumps are way beyond average. I like that it’s planted so well. Like you said; it would be awesome in an open field for sure. I think hpi really did a great job thinking outside of the box on this one , but in doing so missed a few things that should be inside the box😂. I still love it though! I want one. That El Camino is One nasty looker!😍🥰 As always awesome review video!
Thanks Robby! Ya they did a lot right and missed a few more obvious things lol It yes for average jumps she should be good with better tires and maybe a bit thicker fluid since it’s so heavy. The el Camino is awesome I agree!! 😎😎👍👍🤘
Very cool Even!! I do agree it seems fast and if not getting Derby City Bash tested it would be strong as a TANK! Good thing on your tests is you see what abuse can be taken by these RCs. I would agree on the tires and wheels. I think better and moderately bigger tires with foam inserts would be an amazing difference especially when launching and landing big air jumps and flips! Enough of my rambling, great video as usual Even!!
I found you can buy an extra set of shocks, unwind the pre-load collars all the way, and it soaks up landings beautifully. Not to mention more shocks giving more equal pressure on the arms during landings prevents some of the flex that breaks outdrives
I have had this truck for a bit. I recommend doing the shocks for sure. If you upgraded to the 3s, you need the pinion gear. I would also recommend upgrading the drive shafts going to the tires. I spiral broke the stock ones from the step up in torque from 2s to 3s. It's got way tooooo much torque for its own good, too much fun though. In the right conditions, you can pull a double back flip easily.
I love the savage trucks I've got five of them including a mint XL. Was it just my imagination or did the right rear shock fall off when you turned the truck around at between 12.55 and 13 mins? Cracking little truck though and good review vid 👍
Nice and honest review again, buddy! Not as upbeat this time, but it suits the truck just fine. Yeah, I guess it's almost over engineered, still pretty cool, just lacking a bit to reach the level of Arrma for example, and of course that Rival... Nice to see...
Thanks!! Just experimenting with my video styles. Yes it’s a bit over engineered in some places and under engineered in others. Lol looking forward to doing a few small upgrades and trying again!!
I realy like this Hpi Trucks but they are a bit to expansive and its hard to find spareparts in Germany. Thats why i haven't bought one yet but one day i'll do it😅 Thanks for the Video 👍
Thanks buddy! As usual, another great... what do i say.. i think its the BEST savage xs flux review on the youtube!! Hope you enjoyd the little basterd😊 it is pretty fast indeed!
great video Derby , i have one of these , i do get a little cogging which is doing my head in and can't fathom it out , sensor less motor maybe ? but yeah, these are a little animal , you darn got me to sub you SoaB ;-) happy smashin
Nice little truck! There's a bike track at Turkey run park behind where the big silo is! This thing would be killer there! I just converted a Tmaxx to brushless and may hit it up myself lol
Bro it's awesome what do u think about hpi they make alot of vehicles the truggy and stadium truck they make look absolutely awesome too and is that an El Camino
id put fling king jr tires , rpms rod ends and rebuild shocks with viton orings . im a nitro guy but with some upgrades thats one heck of a truck ! im gonna upgrade to a new controller (from a sanwa m8) to either a flysky noble what do you think of them ?
Thanks for the recommendations! I don’t have any controllers other than stock units and DumboRC ones so I can’t speak in flysky just yet. Heard good things though!
Thanks man! Yes they have. I have a video on building them. It’s an old video so give it some patience lol ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SnyqYnSc84o.html
Did you ever find any aftermarket shock options? Specifically that plastic eyelet that holds on the bottom of the shock. I broke both sides of rhe rear twice already just doing small jumps and a couple low speed flips. I bought a couple of the parts kits and it just spins off so its easy enough to replace but im gonna be out of parts soon if this keeps up. lol Seems like a major weakpoint on an otherwise durable and fun truck. I have seen some videos of people bashing them pretty hard without that shock eyelet breaking so i dont know🤔 Definitely would like to get something figured out so it doesnt keep happening.
Verry fun bashproof car, never tried it on 2s lipo, only 3s lipo. Hard used for many years, summer and winter. Proline sandpaws for backwheels, never tried it with the hpi servo and radiosystem, savox waterproof servo and sanwa mt4 radiosystem. Its verry powerful and fast little bastard, so like using better radiosystem to control the car, use some old hobao hyper 8 pro shocks.
@@DerbyCityRC have 8 rc cars thats up and running, im most into nitro cars, savage xs is æ 👍car. 3s lipo give you a good punch when you pull the trigger, standing backflips no problem, to many and the backwheel driveaxels will snapp
Cool vid, bro, smiles a million, thanks a lot,,see these wheels, their really big,, your little one makes me laugh, mine are not so little any more 24 & 23, welcome to the bank of dad, 😱 lol,,was gonna say that looks like an 1/12 🤔,,pretty solid, when through a lot, see what you mean about tyres, nice extras, too, hmmm, looks like bit of nightmare to work on 😱🤪😱 lol.😅😅
I’ve got the nitro hpi savage and I’ve taken it completely apart. Kevin Talbot says they’re hard to work on. I didn’t think so. This one looks about the same
Factory suspension will break within a few rollovers. Upgrade those and the rest of its ok. This isnt the same HPI quality that we used to know. The plastic vendors are definitely not the same. 😢
I have this car, and it is brutally fast and uncontrollable on 3s; especially on those stock tires, which are absolutely terrible. It's tough as nails, though.
Dude this car is about the most durable sht u got, hell u r saying that it wasnt landing right bruh u landing it mad hard and on one wheel😂😂😂😂like yo, its a fast brick😂😂😂😂 do that on any arrma or traxxas see if it stays together 😂😂😂😂hell u hit a damn curb head one, multiple times n walked away of it😂😂😂😂
