In 10-15 years everyone will look back and talk about how much better "old school" digital equipment was before everything became ai powered and prices for hydrasynths will be $7k just because, even though they weren't rare. Just like Juno's and dx7's are now. It's gonna be wild. I'm holding onto my synths for the "anti ai" market boom we'll see in a few decades.
this will be big. but composition wise it is very interesting but also good to have consistency, familiarity in the sounds, something to comeback to and stay. but for EDM this is really a great tool, both for production and for live performances. fascinating tech!
so, just to understand, sequences are pattern presets, but audio waves are generated in real time? Buffers are filled with samples based on the kind of rule selected?
I have no experience with the plugin but judging by the UI he's switching between premade drumkits, the patterns do seem to be script generated in real time
Is there any way to train the model? Like give it your own libraries of sound so it generate sounds in that fashion? Or tell when you don't like a sound? Cause now from the user side it seems not more than a slot machine for sounds.
Don't be a lazy producer. Create your own melodies and drums, why? because when you do that you will put alot of YOURSELF into the song, it would be what YOUR STYLE sounds like, learn how to do it professionally, and you will be able to create extremely unique music that no one else can create. That is why I always tell producers to make their own melodies and not use loops, or pre made drum patterns. It is easy, fast and satisfying using all these things, but the music will have no character and no uniqueness to it. BUT, it is much more satisfying and accomplishing.
I thought using loops was cheating, so I programmed my own using samples. I then thought using samples was cheating, so I recorded real drums. I then thought that programming it was cheating, so I learned to play drums for real. I then thought using bought drums was cheating, so I learned to make my own. I then thought using premade skins was cheating, so I killed a goat and skinned it. I then thought that that was cheating too, so I grew my own goat from a baby goat. I also think that is cheating, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I haven’t made any music lately, what with the goat farming and all.
This is just ego talk. The listener really wouldn't give a shit. Also, who's to say you can't use these AI generated samples as a base to mangle further for your own creations? Like Spartan-138 said, this is just another cheating rabbit hole argument that literally never goes anywhere. Mozart didn't build his own pianos. Phil Collins didn't make his own drumsticks from scratch, which yes, can severely alter the tone.
The real question for all that AI stuff is: WHY? Honestly, although interesting technologically speaking, let's be honest here, this sounds like crap. It's just a bunch of bad noisy drum sounds all thrown randomly. Really, what is the purpose behind this? Someone could explain?
Listen to guys like Mr bill, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Iglooghost and so on. You will quickly know why people would actually love this to sample unique/crazy sounds
It doesn’t have to be “for you” to be valid. How many different kinds of music are there? Are all people “the same”? Is the sky one color? There’s a big world out there. 😎👍🏼
Sounds like you're complaining about the drum pattern that was selected... The drum sounds are surely not "crap". Some are better than others, but many sound quite usable
