I've paved for 17 years shorts, and low shoes!! It only burns for a minute or two!!! Hell we horse around and put the hot mix in each other's shoes!! Not a scab, work for a major municipality, about 200,000 population! Main roads, side streets , no parking lots and nonsense work.
Looks to me that asphalt repair cutting wheel "will" work on 1-inch thick max asphalt but there are much better and faster ways to pull up asphalt that thin, a shovel for instance. Any thinner you would have to call it a gravel road.
all i can say is that in my city,Montreal, the contractors responsible for sidewalks and roads go to great lengths to do a lousy job so they can be called back in 2 years to do it again,so no matter what the process here its good to see it can be done in a timely fashion
any body that says something like this probably never held a shovel in their hands just like the idiots that say auto repair guys can make parts fail in a couple hundred miles so you will come back a contractor who does half ass work will only be in business for a year or two there is enough money in government work to cover the cost of doing work right and no contractor wants to do work twice I spent 45 years in the asphalt/concrete biz
sir you do not live in Montreal I do and i don t need to have held a shovel to know what i am talking about,no matter how long you were in this business you have no real idea about this area...
Colin i'm not from Montreal but I believe there have been many court cases about corruption in the road building in Mo and even a mayor going to court about it. Look it up.
Here in Michigan the city council keeps asking us to donate money to fix the roads and they get thousands of dollars and then they never touch the roads
Now the governor wants to raise the gas tax another .45 a gallon. Most of the problems with our roads aren’t even the highways, but the city streets around Lansing, Grand Ledge and some of the other outlying areas. Too many legacy costs.
Almost the same in the states. Mostly when it’s a government job. I watched 15 do 20ft long 3ft strip for a week. 75% of them were 100lbs overweight and couldn’t even bend over to pick up a shovel.
Schmidt is a very good company out here in Colorado. They tend to get a lot of the paving contracts by cities and counties. Martin Marietta is the same way. Kewit and Wildcat construction get the majority of Cdot's contracts as well.
Hmmmm Couple guys and a machine doing roadway work...CANNOT BE the USA... Here, there's 8 miles of cones and barrels, 12 guys standing around and machines sitting IDLE while traffic backs up for 20 miles...
Can't be the UK either - the only road works that are done in the UK is the fitting of speed cameras to motorways. The road surfaces are sub third world!
You cannot compete with Italy. We don't mend the roads even when open the sinkhole or the people dying. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e8w-fOFltkg.html
Dear Mark... if you don't like the way things are done in the USA, there's boats leaving for Communist China every day... don't let the door whack you where the Good Lord cracked you.
Elaine Green my deal Elaine. You cannot imagine how much I love this country. Which, in a very small part is why I thought to comment on the video which, apparently you also viewed. It pains me that in our great country, so often we ignore the obvious flaws and only focus on what the country can do for us.... Rather, should we not look to the things that we can work on improving? If you've ventured outdoors at any point in the last 40 years I don't dare say you have observed the situation I mentioned on full display. Why then, do we not, as Americans cry out at the waste of time, talent and most importantly resources? Maybe instead of requesting people leave the country, you might try encouraging hard work, dedication, teamwork or just plain AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM.
Thats good because the laborers would be out of a job looks like that machine can do it all but labor help is cheaper thats why there will always be work.
Thanks for the video! Those guys know an awful lot and it would be great if you could toss in some narration as the behind the scenes work necessary to pull this off must be enormous. Best of luck!
If only the South African government did this with our roads. They would be in a hell of a better condition than they are. Most of the potholes (sinkhole) here could probably destroy your car's suspension if your driving anything other that a big truck or a bakkie (pickup).
Strange but when you put asphalt on the ground it is building material and paving material, but when you lift it off the ground even in your hand it is immediately hazardous waste.
Not sure why you would say it's a hazardous waste. The only time asphalt becomes hazardous waste is when a product like Coal Tar is used to seal it. Most municipalities, OSHA and even the EPA have banned coal tar. All the roads in this video did not have any type of coal tar sealer on them which makes all these roads 100% safe and 100% recyclable. Did you know that. Most asphalt you drive on has already been recycled maybe even 2-3 times. Hot-mix asphalt in its solid form does not present a health hazard under normal use and conditions. Avoid dust from the cutting or sawing of hardened asphalt as it may release the crystalline silica as airborne particulates, posing an inhalation hazard. This is why you should use a wet saw.
What's the make model & manufacturer of the last orange machine, featured in your video? Where a new road layer is being installed, literally from someone's door step. Thx.
Where I grew up, this was the way they did the roads around are town, they would resurface about every 4 or 5 years, same as driveway sealing. I always loved the chip seal.
Adrastos It is likely that a full depth repair and restructuring the subsurface drainage before paving is done is necessary to I Insure a solid driving surface can be achieved, however due to lack of funds and or caused by corruption within the inspection body, and general mismanagement this is both an on going frustration for taxpayers and visitors alike
@@stanky98035 Can add that most manufacturers of tiltrotators have them, such as Steelwrist, SMP, Engcon, Rototilt etc. Not sure where you're located so I don't know what dealers there are in your country.
There seems to be a lot of easily upset people here.....Mark exercised an American freedom called "freedom of speech" He has a right to his opinion and to express it, short of trying to start a riot........over reaction does that, not opinion.....my opinion, you're all too sensitive.....
