A 3x winner, Tuffy Stone takes us on a tour of Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, Tennessee. One of the most highly regarded barbecue competitions in the world.
Thank you Tuffy, you can definitely feel the energy that the jack brings thru this video. I worked for a gentleman in SLC at his family Butcher shop that’s cooked the Jack before and after learning about Competition BBQ There’s nothing more that I’d love to do in life then to cook this contest. Maybe with a little Luck and some hard work one day I might be fortunate enough to cook alongside you or have you give me some input on my food at this event.
Great video! I’m just up the road about five miles from the square in Lynchburg. I make a lot of the barrel furniture that’s in the hardware store, also the rocking chairs and do some of the barrels. I have watched a lot of your videos. Hopefully I will run into you down in “the holler”.
Great show Tuffy! It's so great to see you. I love your production on this! Been 5 years since my last competition. Getting ready to make a big move to Nevada from Maryland where I'll be able to get back into it again. The Jack is the goal by 2024. Competition BBQ is one of the most amazing communities I have ever associated with. I can't wait to come back.
This was such a great video to watch. Anyone know what kind of $$ investment is being made by the teams competing at this level? I’m curious if there needs to be businesses behind them to cover the costs or if this is done independently? Looks like so much fun, but very expensive!
We live about an hour hour and a half from Lynchburg and being big fans of BBQ we always enjoy going to The Jack. We've been to several Jacks but hadn't been in about 3-4yrs but went down this year and me and my wife were kind of disappointed and talking with others walking around they felt disappointed too. The competition teams were setup kind of disorganized from years past. Used to make a big loop and see all the teams. Vendors...Who goes to see a BBQ competition and want to eat fish? There was 2 BBQ vendors maybe 3 if you count one that offered a BBQ sandwhich. The line was crazy at those two. We ended up eating at the Barrel House, which we could eat at anytime of the year. We really missed some of the vendors that had been there...selling BBQ... from years past. Another complaint, and again we talked to many people, seats! Some place for people to sit while they eat. Seemed very unorganized this year compared to years past.
How can you have a World Championship with out inviting some South Africans? We call it a baai and our braais will beat anyone on anyday hands down. Come on, we have even created a national braai day!
