all of the close up terrain with rocks and such was probably Quixel megascans. The far off mountains were World creator with their splat mattes used to render the realistic rock, erosion detail and snow fall.. speedtree for the trees of course... managing the file sizes has to do with the GPU.. probably used 3090s 24gb of memory is great for this. And each scene was probably handled with proxy data for forests and grass.. and VDBs for the clouds... if you do a search on all of these items quixel c4d workflow Speedtree c4d workflow.... World creator, octane c4d workflow you will be able to get your head around what is needed. Its really a testament to how far rendering and online resources and the power of modern workstations have come in the last 10 years! we are in a era where photoreal is standard now and very achievable just from watching online tutorials if you already have the basics of 3d software in your skill set.

@@xpez9694 It's the way Aaron Westwood has been able to use all those tools together that make this a masterpiece. Rendering this on a single 3090 would probabaly take a year lol

@@BetaFilms Long sequences usually go to online GPU farm. I cant imagine building up huge scenes and rendering locally. But the 24 gb is great for preview large scenes on the IPR. No doubt Mr. Westwood is talented. all of workflows are already on You tube. Even lighting and comping. Unless he usually makes tutorials I wouldn't count on it happening..LOL. good luck! thats kind of a tall ask. Because it is really a lot of work.

Yes, the terrain was made with World Creator, assembled in C4D and rendered using Octane. A typical workflow for productions like these 😀🤣

As you can see in the end of the video, miltiple software was used to create this awesome video. And it is totally common in the industry that multiple tools are used during the entire process. For example: you need to learn C4D and World Creator, then you need to learn lighting and scene creation which is something that takes time and experience to come to a Hollywood like result ... start with books to master the software, experiment a lot, watch tutorials on RU-vid and all that ... it takes time and patience ... but in the end you will master it :) - we are working on some basic tutorials but it is impossible to explain the experience that took years in a couple of minutes. Hope you understand what I am trying to explain.

I use C4D for 8 years now and octane render for 4 years now and I use lighting but I never encountered terrain before that's why I bought World Creator after watching your latest short film to start doing terrains but It really would be great even to make 1 tutorial for just one terrain even if it will be 1 hour or 2 hours and we can see how to achieve that results so we can use World Creator more. Thank you so much I am looking forward for the tutorials and I hope that the tutorial continue to DCC like C4D for example to continue the image creation not just in world creator and the tutorial closes.
