Great post - really brings back the memories. I was 18 during that World Cup and without doubt it was the best summer of my life and one that I don;t think will be bested.
fantastic times.. i was 12...and it was an absolute glorious time to be a kid... an amazing summer i will never forget.... all my neighbours on my street ran out of their houses... hugs everywhere... great times. the whole country went mental🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪😘😘😘😘
12 as well, unreal ... Still get emotional watching this 30 years later. The country went absolutely mad that summer. We'll never see the likes of it again.
@ronan32 we are far more backward today, withg are SUV's and Lattes. Everyone looking dow their noses at each other. Today we are just a carbon copy of the UK.
7.47 watch those reactions!!!!!!!!! It was amazing. Imagine it now, 500 mobile phones and selfies. Missing out on the moment. Pity the kids now. Nothing like this will ever happen again. I I am delighted i was 7 when this all happened. Brilliant.
i heard that the ole lad crying, was a writer for the irish times years ago,and died a couple of years ago, just shows how much things like that mattered to people back then, people re-morgated their homes to go to italy and still went with nothing in their pockets.
@@rossmorebaz Ireland is now a woke, liberal, globalist, dump. Where free speech is dead and only one narrative is pushed. Pride flag has replaced the tricolour. Our culture, heritage, identity, and Christian roots are destroyed thanks to your Varadkar, Martin etc who are selling Ireland off bit by bit.
My cousin, who had no interest in football, had been working in Boston at the time and flew home during one of Irelands match’s. After collecting his bags he walked through an empty airport. Outside the only car to be seen was his mothers waiting to pick him up. He asked her what was going on and she said that everyone was watching the match. Not a soul or car to be seen anywhere on roads as they drove home.
Such memories, can remember watching the Pen shoot out in a pub in Balinteer in Dublin , then the scenes in O Connell st that night was something il never never forget.

The summer of 1990 is one of the best I've ever experienced. Everything was different then: values, people, music, football... I'm Spanish but I really loved and supported the Irish team too during that magical summer... 💚🤍🧡
That summer was mental. After the penalty shootout there was people signing and dancing on the streets in Dublin until well into the next day. It was something I have not seen since that day. Great memories. I just hope they have not become too posh to do it again in the future.
seeing all the crap thats going on in this country at the moment its watching this video that reminds me why im still proud to be irish, i think we have such a unity bigger than any other country during a world cup or european cup, roll on 2014 hopefully we'll be there so we can go through this all over again
Great times now we are full of championship and lower tier players, most players in that era were division 1 players with some from utd and Liverpool struggling to get on hard to believe.
I'd like to say that this RU-vid channel is without a shadow of a doubt the best of the best ,I love how the Irish fans enjoyed themselves,at that time we were going to win,we had aims, and we will never see it again,we have great players, they have done brilliantly for the team, the country, the fans as well,I get that you want to do it again just like the old days, but remember we've got the best fans in the world, I'm so proud and privilege for being a fan,my mom would be so proud of me. Coybig! You'll never beat the Irish!☘🇮🇪
No sport ever could touch football for the euphoria anywhere in the world and it touched us in 1990 and what a time, never ever forget that summer. Greatest ever sporting achievement.
We comprehensively had the beating of Spain at most points in that match...I am actually quietly confident we can do the business against France in the play-offs...
Peak Ireland 1990 to 2007. Sadly Ireland will never be the same again , I was privileged to live through it and got to witness it, sad to see the country become what it is today but at least I lived it .
