If you know anyone playing Genestealer cults the Neophyte mauls with chains have a good world eaters aesthetic, and chances are a serious GSC player has plenty of them lying around.
The old Chaos Marauders kit is also a great source of small-round flail balls that are similar in size to the ForgeWorld meteror hammers. If you have the misfortune of having to buy a whole kit, it's old and cheap at least. It has around 20- flail balls and/or meat hooks that can work for the chain-caedere weapons, though the arms are going to be a little too small and weedy to use as bare-arms. Fine jewelry chain is also very cheap and readily available, and a ball is possible the single easiest shape to make out of greenstuff if you want to go that route.
Hey macca, I've recently been starting some plans for a world eaters army themed around destroyer units, with the white and blue potentially replaced with black and red - do you know any cheap sources of jump packs and pistols?
@Garter Knight the forge world Phobos chainaxes don’t come with arms: it’s just 5 pistol hands and 5 chainaxe hands. If you have other arms already, then you can just swap your tactical squad’s arms for those and stick the chainaxes on the ends. If not, you can still make it work. Assuming the new MKVI are similar in design to the plastic MkIII, you can use a little saw (GW sell one if you don’t already have one) and cut the arms in half just above the elbow, then glue them back together at an angle more conducive to holding a ccw and pistol. You might also need to cut the original hands off/file down the bit where the bolter hand goes to make the new hands fit. I did this not long ago for two tactical squads and it worked well enough, although it did take a while and was a bit fiddly. Hope this helps
@@TheOuterCircle thank you. So mid to end of heresy. I can live with that. Now they only need to release mkII in plastic and I can start with the army 😁
I feel like the box set is just such a bad feal for the World Eaters. I started collecting these guys in December. I have 40 infantry already lol And I have ten bolty bois. Ten are probably going to be a support squad or a heavy support squad. Have 40 tac marines is not the primary way of World Eaters, but that doesn't mean don't use them as every legion used tac marines to some degree. I'm going to use some. But I'm going to use more melee dudes for my first list. I am going to try to offload the beakies and make some money back. Hopefully someone picks my stuff out of the masses of beakies on ebay lol
I can't really agree with this set being the best for WE at all, I do think in fact it might be one of the worst, as it doesn't contain melee arms or equipment for the marines except the chain bayonet really. Free chain axes is where its at tbf, same with Despoilers.
If one is going down the route of world eaters, large-scale army, they would want to load up on assault marines, which is why this set works, it gives you bodies in bulk for tactical, tactical support and legion heavy support squads.
@@TheOuterCircle I agree that every Legion can get the bodies from the set, which is why I bought it to. However I think many Legions adopt the Tactical Marines better. Free chain axes arnt really covered in the video and Id say they are a good addition. Anyway, keep up the great vids.
@@TheOuterCircle world eaters look best in MKII, then mkiv and MKv heresy armour in that order in my opinion with a scattering of mkiii if you want the variety. Beakie MKVi was introduced after the siege of terra and so should be virtually non-existent in world eaters forces as they had already gone past the point of no return after Terra, but yeah GW changed the long standing fluff so everyone would buy them.
