Been binge watching this guy, he has a charisma and positive vibe about him that makes his content really enjoyable. Well done for a guy that came from the wrong side of the tracks and could have done literally nothing useful with his life, I think he really found his niche
Melbourne coffee is no better than anywhere else. It's a myth regurgitated by the locals, because they actually have nothing interesting to boast about.
So glad you tried out our cafe scene here in Melbourne, Spanian & you're more than welcome brother!. Yeah, Brunettis is something else & an awesome italian tradition here. You deserve to try out South Melbourne dimsims & Andrews hamburgers too, but Industry Beans in Fitzroy is also great. The cafe scene & coffee is the stuff of holy wars here. If anything, it's our pure pleasure & must thank all Sydneysiders for Dick Smith (how can I ever repay you for such a genius!), inventing HSP, El Jannah chickens, Harrys cafe de wheels & the pea floater pies, Mr Mihalos my buddy from Bexley Pizza, Greekbshops in Brighton le sands & of course Doyles in watsons bay & so much more, though don't miss your traffic. There is even more to try in the Greek shops around Eaton mall Oakleigh, Polish sweet shops in Acland street, Degraves street, Haighs chocolates, Glenferrie rd Malvern/Armadale, Papa Gino's pizza, Komur in Ascot Vale, Craving Crepes & Krabi Thai in Niddrie, Lygon st gelato shops, Brunswick st Fitzroy shops, Spanish shops in Johnston st Fitzroy, eating strawberries in Mt Dandenong & so much more. Come again after November so you aren't freezing your nuts off at this time of year here & enjoy the Queen Victoria market Wednesday night market food stalls. Spent lots of great times in Sydney in the 1980s at St James tavern with my Sydney cousins & we should all be grateful that Melbourne & Sydney are accessible. Pity we can't get rid of Daniel Andrews, Clover Moore & Adam Bandt & make our cities even better!
Interesting that Spanios also noticed the people of Melbourne are happier and friendlier than Sydney. Hardly ever see people in Sydney smile. Stressed out under a mountain of debt maybe ? I've eaten in every capital city in Australia numerous times and Melbourne is hands down our food capital. Same goes for their coffee which you hear people in other countries even talking about. It's obvious the competition is strong which keeps the standards and quality high, otherwise your business probably won't survive.
I'm from melb but people from other countries talk about the coffee in all our cities, its an Australian thing now, Starbucks didnt just fail in melb it failed all over Australia on their first attempt.
I'm not just saying this to shit on Stsrbucks for the sake of it, but their coffee makes me fucking sick. I live and was raised in Melbourne, lived in Sydney for 6 years. Melbourne has the best fucking coffee. Don't got to Stsrbucks. It tastes like Windex
@@sara_208same here, I’ve had some amazing coffee in Melbourne and also some average. Never had a good coffee in Queensland and Sydney coffee is hit or miss like Melbourne
As someone whos lived in both Sydney and Melbourne, the lifestyle of each city is perfectly represented through food. Sydney is just a fast paced, on the go, hustling city. The “big apple” of Australia if you will. Sydneysiders dont want fancy meals with queues. We generally dont care for that. I want to be able to walk into a cafe and already know what the menu is and what im going to get without worrying about variations. Being different here doesn’t guarantee success, if anything it might mean the opposite. Though this is slowly changing. Melbourne on the other hand. I found people have time, there is no rush. If anything people emphasis being social and indulging in the more “artsy” things. Here food has to be unique, it needs to be able to be talked about, looked at, admired. Being generic means being boring.
Im a proud Sydney guy, but I have to give it to the Mexicans. Their cafe scene absolutely demolishes ours. World class food, and easily the best coffee in the world.
As a Melbournian, Sydney is sick especially the harbour and the blue water. If i was rich id live there but for the average joe Melbourne gives a higher standard of living.
Is it weird that these vids somehow soothe me? 😂 both my parents have cancer, leukaemia has got my old man, mums got metastatic paraganglioma. I feel like my life’s crumbling but some guy on the other side of the country trying out coffees in Melbourne calms me down enough to be graceful. Fuck knows how any of it makes sense. I wish I was half the kind of man spanian is and probably most the blokes here are. Born a bitch though.
@@ga2073 don’t be 😊🙏🏼 unfortunately we all reach a point in our lives where the ones closest to us start to deteriorate or pass away. It can just be a little difficult to remember that in the midst of it all. But I appreciate your concern 😊
@@lightfoot.2000 i wouldnt call that coffee. And Wellington barely has 200k people so its not really a comparison. There is more people living in Tasmania or in the desert here than there is in wellington. So yeah even if it was true. Its not hard when there is only 200k of ya
when i went to sydney with my old man in 2020, we visited manly and went to a cafe for some lunch, within 30 seconds of being there the lady serving us said "you aren't from here are you", we said no we are from melbourne, and wondered why she asked. she responded with "because youre polite".
I’ve lived in Sydney all my life over 50 years.. the answer to everyone’s question is Sydney has no culture.. just about getting on bags, building units repeat..
Interesting that Spanian finds himself standing in a prison; the juxtaposition of his old life and new life side by side, staring at each other in the face. He could of chose to stay on the same path but he took a different direction. We can all learn from this man. While watching this video, I couldn't help but wander what Spanian was feeling in that moment. He casually brings up PTSD and lightly brushes it off like it's no biggie but no doubt it would conjure some negative memories. Perhaps even evoke feelings of relief and gratitude; a stark reminder of how far he has come and how proud he should be of himself for turning his life and reputation around. It's nice that he is using his gifts to contribute positively to this world. Loving the reviews. Keep going!
Spanian stabbed a bunch of people to end up in prison. No doubt they are the ones living with PTSD, I’ve got no sympathy for Spanian’s emotions. But if he succeed good luck to him.
You don't realize how great Melbourne coffee is until you go somewhere else. We're definitely spoiled living here with our cafes. They're all competing against each other too which keeps the quality high.
Span is the man- no more words needed- but .we'll add some. His content is off the charts wat ever he does he makes span engaging . Respect him. Hes an inspiration an going places for sure .🤝
Brunetti's is so fucking good at everything. Can't go wrong. I used to go there for a speciality roll they only made on the weekend. All the pastries are top tier and when you give someone a Brunetti's cake for their birthday, they love you forever.
He doesn't do "All you can eat" like an old buffet at Sizzler. It's All Eats trying to find places that have been reviewed badly or others that are reviewed well.
Glass den was a lot better before it changed hands. Must have been a few years back now... Food was much more exciting and high quality, and prices more reasonable before. A lot of cool experimental stuff on the menu. It was worth going to see what weird stuff they had on offer that week.
Love your shows Love your commentary.. Keep them coming mate Can I give you one thing for free… when u sit on a milk crate never sit on the bottom because it’s hard…. Put it on its side (so the opening it at your feet) - and u have instant suspension and bounce and more comfortable seat… Your welcome (and I expect a shout out) 👊🏻
it's a pity you got a coffee from Brunetti, because as good as the coffee is, that place is renowned for it's hot chocolate. No powder here cuz, it's pure dark melted chocolate brewed with milk, comes out thick as cream and black as night. It absolutely slaps you around cos it's like drinking an entire block of chocolate, but it tastes so fuckin good.
Know a couple old heads, Forgotten Australian's, Stolen Generation's that won't go within a kilometer of Pentridge, lots who ended up there started off at the kid's prison Torana, during the inquiry into abuse in state care the stories that came out, that place is forever haunted no matter how much they dress it up.
The high end cafes and restaurants in Melbourne are some of the best in the world! But the average restaurants in Melbourne are struggling compared to Sydney! For example middle eastern food in Sydney destroys Melbourne’s. But you could get a mad coffee pretty much anywhere in Melbourne.
I'm so happy that you went to Carlton at Brunetti's. My old hometown and my favourite cafe. That place is something else and l could go there everyday. Like l used too.
Brother I done a bit of time with ya yrs ago much respect for what ya doing cuz wish I could take ya through the country towns like kempsey,Taree and more but let's og my brother deadly work
