Well Chase has co-taught with other hypnosis greats, some of which have actually said they do not agree 100% with Chase. And that bit of disagreement is an overall good thing. But to suggest Chase would not be instantly and completely attracted to learning hypnosis would be an error of colossal proportions. It would be like saying hypnotists have nothing to learn from the technology which Chase presents.

I've had panic attacks most of my life & in my 30s in desperation I went for hynotherapy believing it was all rubbish, how wrong I was, its the best money I've ever spent in my life. She gave me audio copies of my sessions which I listened to daily sometimes twice a day & it made a huge difference to my life. I occasionally listen to them now if im stressed or can't sleep. The first thing she told me was whatever you see on tv its not hypnotherapy today is what hypnotherapy is & duly showed me. I'd recommend hypnotherapy to anyone.

@karentweedley5478 Hynposis or trance, is a natural state of mind that people commonly experience without recognizing it. Movies, songs and ads use this principle to make big profits. You likely have a higher level of vigilance which prevents you from lowering your guard enough to let someone else access your mind, your thoughts, your emotions, etc. You can still benefit from self hypnosis. Anytime you use your imagination or memory, you are accessing your inner reality or your unconscious mind. In doing so, you are disengaging, to one degree or another, from the outside world, your outer reality. This is the threshold where trance or hypnosis takes places...

I've been in hypnotherapy and was taught self-hypnosis 25 years ago and can still do it. I've found that (maybe because I associated it this way) for physical issues, (defeating a nicotine habit) the head to feet visual was more effective and for psychological issues (motivation, self-image) the feet to head visual was more effective. PS-Grocery stores and department stores are designed and laid out to "hi-jack your auto-pilot". I've observed people who aren't focused stay in a grocery store over 3 hours. Grocery stores are especially effective at it because they are warehouses of food, a basic human need. Department stores not as much, but still more hypnotic, to those with disposable income, and the ability to spend money on their appearance and material possessions.

I've seen a performance of a hypnotist on stage --he hypnotized my friend, who I talked with afterwards. He had no recall of what transpired; he was like, "OK, when are you going to start with the show?" The hypnotist told him while he was under, that he was Elvis Presley, and told him to sing one of his songs. My friend KNOWS that he can't sing, so he just "sang" the phrase, "Ain't nuthin' but a hound dog..." and that was it. Based on the body language, tone and demeanor of the hypnotist in first scene of the movie, that read to me as "creepy", and I wouldn't let someone like that within ten feet of me, much less hypnotize me! Along these same lines, I'd like you to do an analysis of an old movie, called "The Hypnotic Eye". Thanks so much for posting this and all of your analysis!

I was a little disconcerted when Spidey mentioned how often he's un-programmed Bad Hypnotist's post-hypnotic suggestions. * AFTER repeatedly reassuring us hypnosis is totally safe for us. (* The context was slow, test inductions, or as Chase said "practice". But why is your clean-up necessary so frequently?)

@@heidikickhouse- A google search tells me that about 1 in 18 people have tried hypnotherapy over the years in the Western world. In the US alone, there are about 335 million people. If we take 335M/18 (which is 18.6M) and look at just half of 1% of them (0.005%), that's still 93055 people. So that's an incredibly low percentage of people having a bad experience, but also a large number of people for one guy to potentially be treating. X) Even if we decided that your odds of having a bad hypnotist experience is on par with getting struck by lightning (1 in a million), that means about 335 Americans get struck by lightning each year, so that's also still a lot of people for Spidey to do clean up work on (if they all came to him). So uncommon? Yes. But it happens. And it can be fixed if it happens, which is the important part. :)

I can totally relate to that - sounds like an absolutely exciting idea! A psychology professor who used to teach in Vienna, Prof. Guttmann, once did a very interesting study comparing autogenous training and "meditation cd music". I only remember the images of the brain, not what they were made with, alas, but it pretty much proved people who have had years of autogenous training can basically turn off their brain. The images were astounding. By contrast (and not very surprisingly), the brains of untrained people listening to a meditation cd were activated rather than deactivated. So he referred to this music as "meditation disco". At any rate, I'd really like to know where between these polar extremes you'd land based on hypnosis.

I love hypnosis, helped me so much. I was able to quit smoking and didn't gain weight. The Dr was retired from Stanford and he and his cronies were going around the US to help any government employees, with any problems they were having. I was very impressed with his knowledge and how well his therapy worked. I bought the tape to listen to for 21 days. He said the sleep Drs had found that being hypnotized once will last about 3 days. Because when we sleep, our brain, that was given new information will undo all the suggestions we are given. I wish I could remember his name. It helped me be a healthier and happier person. Thanks Chase and Spidey. I loved the critique of the movie. I will not be going to see it.

How am I just now seeing this?! I guess it's because I have only been watching Spidey and The Behavior Panel since the Depp/Heard trial began. As a hypnotherapist, I am fascinated by this analysis of a Netflix show which I've never heard of. I also didn't know that these two gentlemen, who I have admired immensely prior to seeing this, were hypnotherapists. I'm still watching this, but I was always taught that hypnosis cannot make you do anything that you are morally or ethically opposed to. I have never regretted becoming a certified hypnotherapist. I've helped many people quit smoking, reduce pain, alleviate fears and phobias, and even explore past lives (which is a special training in and of itself). It's a wonderful career that I thoroughly enjoyed.
@xzonia1
@xzonia1 5 часов назад
I've always heard that too (that hypnosis can't make you do something you wouldn't normally do), but I also understand that given the right circumstances, most people are willing to do anything, even murder. Like most people feel killing others is justified if it's self-defense or if you're a cop or soldier, so a hypnotist could just make the person imagine that's the case for them and then they'd be willing to kill. Chase explained that aspect of it really well with his shower example (person won't get naked in front of others but hypnotist tells the person they're going to take a shower, so naturally they undress). I'd love to work as a hypnotherapist. I've always found hypnosis interesting. I just haven't ever had the money to take classes / get certified so I could treat people. It must be wonderful to know you're helping people in that way every day. :)

I have not read the other comments, and your replys at this point. Beyond your analysis of the hypnosis, which for the most part us stellar, I believe the whole point of this movie is to bring MKULtra into the awareness of the masses. You mention that the lymbic system cannot be bypassed by hypnosis. And I would agree. However, the use of drugs, torture and other factors are NOT hypnosis. There have been relatively recent and extremely cruel Pavlovian type experiments with dogs (which I find nearly as reprehensible as MKULTRA) where response to continuous shock reached a state of no-response. The escape from pain was so far beyond the, dare I say 'hope' or 'expectation' of the tortured dogs, that the dogs simply gave up the natural fff responses and accepted the new normal. It's kind of like when you live by a rail yard and constantly hear trains go by. After a time you dismiss the sound of trains from conscious awareness. I truly am angered that most people are not able to analyse the movie content and are hypnotized or influenced to demonize hypnosis as a legitimate and very useful therepy.

I got “The Ellipsis Manual”. I’m also a certified hypnotist in various techniques. I’m not a “licensed therapist” though. I decided to learn hypnotism to understand myself better and why I tend to be more submissive to dominant men. And why I’ve let them control me. I have always been interested in psychology and how our minds work. People have a misconception about hypnotists. They think hypnotists control their minds. No. They are catalysts. I was surprised when I did Past Life Regression on my over analytical ex boyfriend. We were both amazed that he went back to about 5 lifetimes. He gave different detail on each lifetime, etc. He was not led. Even though past lives are not proven, it was amazing enough just to see that someone who is over analytical, could reach that state of imagination(if that is what it was). I am also a SUPER Empath and quite psychic(being triple Pisces) so naturally I can see beyond a person’s facade. And I’m a natural healer. Now I want to see this movie!

Well Tina, we likely all get into hypnosis or the study of psychology or sociology because we want to sort ourselves out. That is perfectly okay. Oh, and who ever told you it was somehow wrong for a female to desire to be dominated by her man? You have an absolute right to take your pleasure the way you want. I run a church watchdog ministry and I'm working to expose "wolves" that exploit and manipulate their congregations. I'm wondering if it's possible for pastors to use hypnosis unethically as a part of their sermons and church services (and the worship service) to hypnotize people. This is very interesting and I'm looking forward to learning more!

If I had the means Chase, I would definitely want you to see me for lifelong anxiety. You are someone I would trust to do that. I can't trust just anyone. I get a very soothing vibe from you, which I noticed on the Behavior Panel. The hypnotist in the movie I could never trust. I knew he was lying when he told her she always has control. Also, there is something in his voice that seems manipulative to me. I don't think I will be watching this movie. If I am ever hypnotized some day, I want to go into it cold.

I saw a video done by Chase Hughes that was about MK Ultra and it was frightening. At the end of the video, Chase switched his voice to a very calm, soothing voice and explained that we were safe, that the chance of any of us being involved in this weird reality was incredibly small, we were safe. Your voice, Chase, that calming, soothing voice terrified me almost more than the info you had been giving earlier. My thought was, "he's doing it now!" :)

Chase and Spidey, I went to a hypnotherapist for many months due to severe childhood trauma. It was unhelpful in the extreme. I was hoping to be cured of my PTSD, anxiety and depression. Oh well. Now about to start with other therapy. I'm 65 now and I remember everything as if it had recently taken place. Is that normal or is my mind destroyed?

@@Christel-sx7er I am no professional, but my opinion is that this is very common. My understanding is that our brains take accurate pictures of things we saw as harmful to help us avoid future harm. I start at the feet when doing progressive relaxation tied with guided imagery. Since my brain/thinking is involved in telling each muscle group to tense, then relax, then, melt away into either deep, cool darkness or float away into warm sunshine, by starting at the toes/feet. The last part to close down is my brain/thoughts. Thus, leaving my entire body and consciousness are in limbo and relaxed...usually asleep.

Something for you guys to analyze: netflix had a reality show where a subject was manipulated to push someone over a ledge. It wasn't hypnosis but they used a range of psychological tools. Spoiler alert, he doesn't push the target. But they ran the same experiment 3 other times and each other person did believe they were killing him. He was safe with bungie gear under his clothes. There was a lot of social pressure used. It's like Milgram a bit. How would you advise people to build up their protection against this kind of manipulation? Refusing to rationalize lies seems a good path but so few do it. Another question is, how do you pull someone out who has been brainwashed? There's a confirmation bias which seems very hard to overcome.

Such an interesting discussion! When Chase is describing induced anaphylaxis it reminded me of a well documented War torture. Prisoners would be blindfolded opposite one another, and chained to a wall. Then after some time Prisoner No 1 would have his blindfold removed, and be made to watch while prisoner No 2 had his wrists slit (so he died), and then prisoner No 1 was blindfolded again. Later they would return to him, and without removing his blindfold, they would pass ice across his wrists (he was tied up with arms spread apart). On feeling the drops of water from the melting ice, that prisoner also died, believing his wrists had been slashed and that it was his blood pouring out instead of the melting ice.

Watching this, I thought of a cool idea for a Behavior Panel segment. Why not analyze the reactions and behavior of people under hypnosis (at a stage hypnosis show). Are their reactions/emotions real, or are participants faking it or just really good at improv acting? They always seem to be genuine to me, so I think it would be fun to hear the experts take on it :)
@SpideyHypnosis
@SpideyHypnosis 2 года назад
In my opinion it would be soooooo hard to know because very few people are straight up faking just to lie. Some people are hypnotized and some THINK they’re hypnotized, which means; they may as well be lol. Besides nobody is asking them any questions about the hypnosis AND the stakes are low; everyone is there for fun so the deception isn’t a stressful one. It would be excessively difficult to catch deceptive body language in that context. Just my two cents.
@thepaintedlady4637
@thepaintedlady4637 2 года назад
@@SpideyHypnosis Thanks for your reply, Spidey! I suspect the panel would potentially validate that the subjects emotional responses were real. When I was watching some stage hypnosis videos, I saw maybe one person in the lot who I thought could be faking, but the majority seemed to be having totally legit and real emotional reactions. To give an example, I was watching Zach Pincince hypnotize people to believe he could become invisible/was bigfoot/or was their favorite celebrity. The reactions I observed for the most part looked to me like very real fear, surprise etc... Some people started actually crying and could not contain their emotional overwhelm and look of awe when they thought he was their favorite celebrity. Call me curious, but would love to see the Panel's take on something like that. Also, I don't necessarily agree about the low-stakes point, because I think most people would have some level of nervousness or stress about being on stage in front of a crowd, even if it is supposed to be for fun.
@SpideyHypnosis
@SpideyHypnosis 2 года назад
@@thepaintedlady4637 I agree with your first paragraph. Some subjects are very emotionally invested. As for thé nervousness if being on stage, baseline. That would happen before the hypnosis as well. I’m saying I wouldn’t expect a huge deviation from baseline even if they’re faking
