Oooh! That's really cool! I do like me some D&D campaigns, and this looks like they got a lot of skill and imagination poured into this! I may have to pledge just to get the campaign book!
this originally was supposed to be a side project but that project became so big that they decided to make it dungeons & lasers 5. the project that was originally supposed to be dungeons & lasers 5 seems like it is going to be quite impressive and they pushed it back to refine some of the designs (like the caverns they are designing). it's funny how prior to woodhaven they were saying they don't have the ability to make convincing looking trees or caverns with diagonal walls and now we've received some very nice trees and they're working on caverns with diagonal walls. they're figuring things out as they go. I've been happy to support them on many of their campaigns and have always been happy with the quality (which gets better with each project). the value for Encounters was just nuts. Free gigantic terrasque! 😆
They are constantly developing their plastic techniques, and the stuff they are doing is absolutely phenomenal. Encounters was fantastic value, and this looks equally impressive. I will be painting my tarrasaque on the channel at some point.
I really like these models. Archon has had a habit of overdetailing some of their work in the past which you're probably thinking isn't possible but it is and it actually makes the model extra fiddly to paint and look busy on the table. These strike a great balance and I think they'd be great for gaming.
I regularly talk about modern Games Workshop miniatures being over-engineered and too fiddly, with too many details. Long-time viewers will know that I prefer, elegant, clean miniatures, especially Oldhammer miniatures that have all the character without a dozen bits and pieces stuck on them. However, I do have to say that it's not an issue I've ever seen with Archon. They are definitely improving their plastic production overall.
I like the hyper detailed stuff. my complaint is the opposite. some of archon's stuff is a bit under-detailed. this is because they have a relatively small design team and are producing so many new products every year. their CEO said they strive for a Games Workshop level of detail but that it just isnt always possible given their design restrictions. And if hyper-detailed is not your thing then stay away from anything Games Workshop after like 2009 or so. Some of it is pretty ridiculous even for me.
Thanks. Between Masters of the Universe and Dungeons and Lasers, Archon Studio are putting out some of my favourite products right now. I really want to try Fields of Eternia when that hits retail.
I just got the thrall dragon from them. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm learning how to take my painting to the next level so your videos are very very much appreciate 🙏🏾
The thrall dragon is beautiful. Mine is still in the box at the moment, but I really need to get around to it. Thanks for watching the videos, I hope they are helpful.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I'm going to get the ghost dragon and follow your techniques on that one. I love the colors and it just looks intimidating and really cool. I won't be mad if you do the thrall dragon though hahah. Keep doing what you do.
I'm turning my main dungeon crawler game into a 20mm scale affair, and have made very significant progress, which is kind of a shame as these Dungeon and Lasers releases are absolutely superb, the best there is. I love the look of a lot of their dungeon sets as well as their miniatures, especially their dragons...they've really hit the highest bar in the industry with their products I reckon.
