11:03 The moment the motif from "Welcome to the Information Superhighway" from the first game kicked in, I came close to genuinely weeping. World of goo meant so much to me as a kid, it's nothing short of wonderful to have this game now.
Friend, this was the very first game in my life and I am very grateful for the emotions that I experienced. I got acquainted with it in my distant childhood, when I was very small, I passed it alone, but at one point, I got stuck at a difficult moment in the third chapter with a huge bomb that needed to be detonated. About guides on the Internet, like my parents, I did not really know, guessed how they could pass the level. Soon, after many life circumstances, I forgot about the game, and returned to it a few years later (I then asked my uncle what kind of game it was, and he installed it for me). I played it very gradually and soon it happened, I managed to pass it. At that moment there were mixed emotions, I was both happy and in despair. For a long time I was learning this game, and to realize that everything, this plateau, nowhere to move further was a tragedy for me. I was looking for the second part, I hoped and believed that it exists, I saw a mod for the second part, but I didn’t know about the existence of mods, including how to download and install them. Years passed, I replayed the game almost every year, half a year (I’ve already replayed it 10 times for sure), I didn’t really check for the presence of the second part, because I understood that it was not destined to be. And then one day, going to RU-vid and just typing in the search “World of Goo 2” my attic was blown away. I saw how the trailer for the second part that had been released two months ago! At first I just couldn’t believe it, and then I just started crying with happiness. After so many years, my childhood dream has come true. This music evokes so many good memories for me, so many unforgettable emotions, and I am very happy that I am familiar with this game. Thank you for your attention
atomic express changed my life. i absolutely forgot about everything else when i heard it. ode to the credits hits harder tho. that sudden realization that world of goo is officially over... makes you shed a tear.
ooh! no kidding... reminds me of Armored Core 4 Answer's "Dexter": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YhUE5sx29Yc.html yet somehow this one about gooballs goes so much harder, rougher and more intense. damn, now i GOTTA play this game!
The original soundtrack was a masterpiece but it was a bit all over the place (if you know the history of World of Goo, this makes perfect sense). This one ups it in every way I can think of, from the mix, to the instrumentation chosen, to the tracks that are new. Huge respect to everyone that poured their heart and soul into making this as good as it is.
The backstory of the World of Goo 1 OST being Kyle Gabler re-using songs he made since highschool to his days in college is awesome, there's only a few songs he made specifically for the game if I remember correctly. I love hearing these brand new songs with motifs from the old soundtrack, literally has me geeking out as I'm playing the game.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We put a lot of effort into refining every aspect of the soundtrack for World of Goo 2, and it's wonderful to hear that it's appreciated. We aimed to make it a love letter to the original as much as possible. Your support means a lot 😊
@@JonnyTrengrove The effort definitely shows and it wasn't for nothing. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to acknowledge comments like mines and others, it means a lot for those like me who grew up in the late 2000s with this game and it's soundtrack.
I feel it less one-ups it as it slaps a new coat of paint on the old one and calls it a day. New, original tracks would have really elevated this game, as it’s already a really good sequel. Some remixes are improvements (Particularly Atomic Express, though the original was already so great it’s hard to say which was better), and some are downgrades (looking at you soggy bottom and flaming river). But that’s beside the point, since the game should’ve had its own original music to complement the remixed tracks. Part of what made the original’s soundtrack so special was how unique and unlike anything else it was. The sequel feels like it just took that and said “ok that worked, let’s do it again!” Like, it’s a really, really nice coat of paint. But a nice coat of paint does not a brand new soundtrack make. I don’t mean to sound harsh, the game as a whole is excellent. But I was desperately looking forward to new music, and as good as these are, the fact that they are the same underlying songs is still kind of a let-down. Sloppy Walker is great though, and it really gives a taste of what this soundtrack could’ve been without the excessive remix bloat.
1:17:46 "Some players may recall windmills being in the original World Of Goo game." "Well here they are now." "Like a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy." "In the earlier games, they mined the environment." "But now" "They're mining their own past." "-The Curator" the dialog especially hits hard when the tune starts to slowly become more sombre'rish, then instantly kicking back to its cartoonish tune
Honestly, my fav might be Atomic Express. The high chords mixed with rock elements gives the effect of a train that does. Not. Stop. and will go on until time immemorial.
@@lowestpaper4186 I just bought the game but the world seems to want to delay the time I play it LMAO. I'm having trouble downloading the game bc of some erroneous links that lead to an xml error. I'm still waiting for tomorrow corp to respond. I can wait a little longer tbh
"Welcome to the Information Superhighway" has genuinely one of the most emotional and nostalgic melodies ever. So the fact they made MULTIPLE remixes of it has made me beyond happy. Other Personal Favorites: (12:03) This part is so BEAUTIFUL!!! 😭(Information Superhighway REFERENCE!!!) (26:42) Any variation of Tumbler just never fails to disappoint... (46:49) IM NOT CRYING, YOU ARE! (48:58) I genuinely didn't think Screamer could get scarier, yet here we are. (59:47) GENUIENE JAW DROP. (1:07:54) so beautiful... (Information Superhighway REFERENCE #2 AHHH!!!)
Tumbler is the definition of "why do they give the worst levels the best music" it is always the only level I have to skip and come back to once I beat everything else

My childhood memories include the first game I ever loved, World of Goo. As a child, before going to bed at night, I would feel like I was inside that world, and most importantly, the music from the game would replay in the background of my mind. For 14 years, I haven't been able to forget this game and I often recall it. Today, I played the track 'Rain Rain Windy Windy' on RU-vid and suddenly came across a video that was uploaded 6 days ago. I saw that 'World of Goo 2' has been released. For a moment, it reminded me of my childhood feelings and I felt as if I was experiencing those emotions again. My eyes welled up...
I think "A Distant Signal" might be my favorite track from the soundtrack so far. I'm so thankful the Threadcutter leitmotif is still here, and those sci-fi sounds in the background are incredibly catchy. The song has this mysterious yet majestic vibe that perfectly captures the vibes of the chapter.
I didn’t even recognize it was red carpet because of how short it is in the game but I wish it was used in a level instead of just in a cutscene that we don’t recognize the song in
I remember playing the demo of world of goo years ago when you had trials of games laptops by using tokens. Then I would constantly build up in the collection area hoping that there was a secret to unlcking the full game. Loved playing the first one, and will enjoy the second.
50:20 BRO, THE REINTERPRETATION OF SCREAMER IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL, I WANT TO CRY 😭😭😭 My greatest wish is to be able to play this game, unfortunately my computer is like a potato, so I don't have the resources to try it and feel the experience, I have only seen gameplays of the chapters... 💔 I hope more World of Goo 2 content comes out soon, I'm loving it. ✨
29:59 because the8bitdrummer was used here, and because the chord used at the beginning of the track triggered nostalgic childhood memories (C# played a big part in childhood), this is my favorite track
1:02:32 burning man was one of my all time favorites, and I love the new feel they put in it, mixing some of the old and new vocals, gave me chills when I first heard it Edit: graphic processing was awesome too, I love the fact they kept the end part the same, cuz fact is, without it, it wouldn’t give the same feel 1:25:29
I'm a little mixed on the fact that it's nearly all arrangements of 1's ost, (and I'm a little iffy on the arrangement of years of work), but aside from that, this ost is up there with some of the best in my opinion. It's insane that they did a song for pretty much every level in this game.
There really are a lot of references to Little Inferno if you think about it. It will have to do with the fact that Tomorrow Corporation is also behind this.
@@lulaz0o Ngl, after seeing an interpretation of the story (you can see it on a comment on the "The Last Goo Balls and the Flying Machine" track, Gooballer has uploaded the individual tracks), I think even how the whole "message" of the game is handled is a reference to Little Inferno (in the sense that there is a message that is seemingly the central theme, but actually it's just a facade for the actual one). Like, many people thought Little Inferno was a commentary on environmental issues at first, but really was a criticism of free to play games and how they made you wait countless hours for content that you'd end up "burning away" Likewise, WoG 2 uses the criticism of companies supposedly becoming environmentally aware (but actually aren't) as a ruse to set up the actual message (which appears more strongly in the last two chapters), which is that after all those years WoG has lost its what made it special (there are so many more indies with wonderful concepts nowadays), so the "visitor" is encouraged to just leave it and go their own way, making their own "Worlds of Goo"
When I heard the "Jelly" leitmotif come back for the first time in the form of "A Soggy Bottom" 20:22, a chill ran up my whole body. I had to sit down for a while and just listen, the thunder ambience in the level just completed it for me. This re-orchestration was so peaceful, in reverence of its predecessor and the players that grew a little because of it. What an absolutely phenomenal soundtrack.
I feel like the atomic express is one of the favorite tracks of the people here And I can't do anything except to agree because OH MY GOD WHY IS IT SO GOOD

Mostly right, here's some corrections for you! A Smoke Filled Room is Screamer. The Midnight Steamliner is Cog/Atomic, The Ice Cave is based on Tumbler, and Angler Party is based on Jelly. Hello World and Twenty Years are originals, although the latter has previously been published on Kyle's SoundCloud in a different genre style.
@@BookwormKevin I was abbreviating Cog in the Machine/Atomic Express! If you listen closely to the swung bassline and the descending saxophone line on The Midnight Steamliner, you should be able to hear its source inspiration.
Absolutely! Buying the official soundtrack not only supports 2DBOY and Tomorrow Corporation but also ensures you get the best quality audio. Thank you for listening and for your support! 🎶😊
Hey, the transition between Screamer and All Abord the Glory Barge are a bit messed up in the chapters feature. The Screamer chapter ends half way though AAtGB.
Please make separate videos and add them to the playlist, as I would like to save some of the soundtracks to my playlist separately (especially I want to add Atomic Express), rather than the full video
