Ending #42
World of Goo
Developer: 2D Boy
Publisher: 2D Boy
Steam /PC
2008
I delayed playing this for a long time. I first picked it up in a Humble Bundle, messed with it through the first chapter a bit and put it down for nearly two years. Now for me, that's actually a pretty quick turn around on completing a game. As is testament on my Backloggery, I still have Nintendo games that I've had since childhood that need beating.
As we are heading into the Holiday seasons, work is slowing down so I browsed my Steam list and decided on Goo. No solid reason really, perhaps I was thinking back to the quirky and pleasant music, the sharp graphics, or interesting physics engine. Perhaps it just because my work computer could handle it. Whatever the reason, I actually stuck it out and finished the game.
The game is not perfect by any means, I wouldn't even put it on a top ten list, but it is fun enough to enjoy as a casual title. The most frustrating thing is picking up the wrong goo, or misplacing a goo when time is of the essence or you're looking to complete an OCD. Very Frustrating.
The story is on the light side and trying to describe it might be futile, but it did involve Goo genocie (goonocide?) and a big evil corporation. The ending where they find another planet with Goo's was suppose to be part of extra levels that were going to be released in the European version, but was canned since the developer felt it would of been too rushed.
Overall, worth the play. God speed to any accomplishing the OCDs.
