Not gonna lie, I might be one of the few, but I love it. 🤷🏻♂️ The terrain changes, becomes another challenge, and further proves why sprint car racing is superior over most motor sports, obviously just in my opinion.
Schatz and team had that car set up to run where the holes weren't. Everyone had to race on the same track. Obviously the track could have been better, but it wasn't. Adapt and overcome. That's what makes the best the best. Congrats Schatz!
@@shellycasbeer3775yes. It is race day. These sprint car drivers will drive on the slickest and driest tracks out there. It is the drivers job to adapt. Which makes these drivers the best in the world!
@@greezy937 It's a safety issue. You did see how many cars went upside down didn't you, plus no one has yet to pass the leader for the win there this week.
The track was dangerous and bad before the rain. The million had a giant crater as well. Lost track of the amount of destroyed cars because of the track .
That track was insanely rough. Lucky no one ended up seriously hurt. At our local track when the All Star Circuit of Champions came it was rough like that and they reworked it until drivers were satisfied. Lucky a new memorial race doesn’t have to be planned after that.
Im just glad to see there are so many track prep experts in these comments. Hopefully their available for hire since people who have been doing track prep for years apparently dont know what their doing smh
"they're". and yes, these track conditions were ugly.... but not as easy to fix as you might think. I know one of my local tracks had an issue like that that last for 2-3 years. they eventually had to dig the entire thing up going 10 feet deep and then rebuilding the track. I think it was a water drainage issue.
The track was very rough but i guess they want to see who can drive the hell out of it and still remain in the race. To me that says alot for the drivers that made it. Thanks to all. Im a # 1 sprintcar fan. Thanks
Absolutely ridiculous they ran the race with the track that rough. WAY too many cars were torn up for NO reason. You can say that's racing all you want, but there's no excuse for this....
@@JC-fv3pg I can see that defense were this a late model or big block mod race... But for Sprints, there's no reason they should be racing on a track like this. I get they don't want to postpone the show and all that for the fans and drivers alike, but safety should be priority 1 no matter what. I stand by my point. No excuse to race on that surface
@@LBigJake14Earl managed to prep the Track for 50 years with a Grader, Pickup truck, and a Sheepsfoot.. I worked with him for many years . These Bafoons nowadays continue to screw it up with all they have access to.The banking is a joke...Local crowd and racing is gone.. They blow off about $2 dollar beers but yet the camping and ticket prices continue to go through the roof . It's starting to catch up to them . Top 5 Dirt Late Model driver two years ago told Me they don't know what the hell there doing with the track . There first mistake was pushing Earl's Grandson out the door.. It's a damn shame.. Most of the time nobody runs the top no matter the type of car till feature time because they can't.. Total Joke...
Tony Stewart and everyone who preps the track needs to be ashamed of themselves for turns 1 and 3 being so crappy!! Same bumps in turn 1 this whole week for the races.
@@davids5006 you bet! I go to the World Finals in Charlotte every year. A couple of times we’ve had rain come through mid afternoon. They reworked the track after for several hours, it was still a little rough later in the evening. It’s a part of dirt track racing, every team knows it.
Three things needed to win the Kings, flatfoot don’t lift, miss the ditch, and most importantly number three, have a wheel barrow big enough to carry your balls in. 😮
@craigsnider5199 yea cali tracks are horrible, but when your putting on a huge event like this, in my opinion the track should be in excellent racing condition. I mean how many cars did you see that got tore up??
@trentlothringer2867 yah I used 2 love watching the sprints wreck and flip wildly but not so much anymore. Now I like a clean green 2 checker race with lots of racing action throughout the field. But as far as track condition goes , dirt is a lot of work and hard 2 get exactly right on every night !!
I did as well when I was younger, but now I hate to see someone wreck because of poor track conditions! Wrecks are part of the game, but when the track is causing them I would hate to see someone lose or tear their car up or potentially lose their life because the track crew couldn't make a raceable track. Being that the eldora million and the Kings Royal is one of the most prestigious events, I just thought the track could have been better.
@@tokeypokeyna the actual base of the engine is OEM. Like the blocks are designed by the oems and the the entire head and intake as well, the oems put the engineering into designing the engines
Most drivers out there can win a race when they start on the poll. He used 2 be able 2 come up through the field and given enough laps be in contention 4 the win. But NOT anymore !!
I’m wondering if it’s the type of soil that keeps giving the track those waves when it rains. Was at Huset’s for 3 of the 4 nights of the HBN and it rained a lot leading up to it, and then had a half hour rain delay during the 4th night and there were no issues after they’d grind the top, grind the bottom, and then pack.
That's exciting racing for an old man who finally gave up on Nascar a few years ago. I've been watching lately and never seen a track that rough though. Looks like they would have reworked it. That announcer said, and Gravel bounces a little bit. I'm like a little ? Couldn't imagine setting in there trying to hang on trying to get through that corner.
Someone help me understand the 36 car invert without an accumulating points system. I’ve never seen so many good cars miss the show and penalized for qualifying fast.
@@davids5006 With 175,000 to win, a guy like Gravel is going to sandbag qualifying to start on the pole of his heat (and he did). Peck’s reward for quick time but not automatically transferring? 21st starting spot.
What the heck is up with the bumps? Way too dangerous for such an important event. 3 nasty and dangerous flips in just the first few laps, not because of contact or mistakes, but because of how crappy the track was. Do better, Eldora.
The track is just to ruff. Tony Stewart should pay for every car that was torn up due the thst hump between 1&2. Ridiculous. That's a super fast track. Luck no one got hurt.
All these angry people about track conditions😂 do you realize how much rain we had here and how many cars been on this track the last few days. Sit down.
All 4 races were follow the leader. Boring, the smart ones sandbagged in qualifying knowing the invert and that rain was going to change the track . WRG needs a kick in the butt to make the racing better.
How about Brent Marks? 11th to 2nd on that track? That line he ran to avoid the ruts was sick. 4 wheels over the cushion every lap at those speeds? Surprised his balls fit in the car with him.
I thought he would get the million because he always shows up and shows out with big money 💰 but I knew he wasn't going to let the kings get away from him he'll of a race my Friend good job
Things like that track condition will make teams/ drivers look for other tracks to run. A wrecked car and hurt driver isn't worth the payout at any level. Great race.
Weather hasn't been to kind. We've had a lot of rain the past few days and humid outside . Moisture has been staying in the soil. This could've happened at any dirt track.
I think you are wrong. Been going to this race since Smoke took over. Car count , and spectators, have been doing nothing but growing. It rained til 8pm one year , didn't get out of the track till 3am. Same track conditions. Keeps getting bigger
It looked like a corn field out there...cant believe smoke let it dat way..shud have disc it up n rolled it in better..but donny knew his way around on a tractor...congrats...
Big E is going to have to fix that turn one rut. It was a problem a few weeks ago when the All Stars were there for Speed Week but nobody hopped over because of it.
WOW! All the track bashers on here....an old time track racer once told me, good drivers will figure out how to get around any tracks regardless of conditions. I know some will say, but it's dangerous. So tell me, when was racing not dangerous?
Every one knows how to do dirt work too. Lol super huge right rear tire, 900+ HP, hitting the same spot of the track, large amount of rain that day! People would have been really upset, if they pulled the pin on the show. Their are some whiners on here!
Unbelievable! I can't believe that trench that was left in 1-2 that destroyed God only knows how many cars and I can only imagine ruined the suspension components on most of these race cars!
Watch the video for the Diamond Nationals last night at Lucas oil speedway in Wheatland, MO. That's how a dirt track should be prepared....nice and smooth, not stump holes and ruts. But hey... I guess the history of Eldora is enough to keep it going no matter how bad the track is, right??
That happened at my home track some years ago, big ruts in 1&2. I know they worked and worked hard on it but the darn ruts kept reappearing week after week for a long time. So yeah, unfortunately it's just the way dirt is sometimes.
I've read several of the comments on here, and can't believe that more of you would rather comment on track conditions than talk about the race or the drivers or in fact have a single good thing to say.
This is awesome 👍 good job got to see the king get his crown 👑 King Donna Shultz way to go your 6th king royal championship 🏆. Does this makes you tie with my favorite driver king Steve kinser or did you pass him with the most wins??? Any good 👍😊 job 40th king royal championship 🏆 King Donna Shultz way to go sincerely Christopher wright Sprint car driver fan
To those that spent the time to prep the track this week....thumbs down,,yall suck. This is one of the poorest excuses of a race track I have seen in a while. Congats to Donny on a great win.
Horrible track, another Midwest cow pasture track. Hard to believe they hold the King’s Royal there. Announcers were afraid to say how bad the track was. If somebody got killed, then what. Hold these big events in central Pa. where tracks are smooth and fast.
