Fun facts: 1. Kil'Jaeden had the longest progress since Nefarian in Blackwing Descent (Cataclysm) in 2010, so it broke a 7 year record. That boss was monstrously difficult. Its completion, even outside of world-first race, required multiple faction and race-swaps from a few classes for the goblin rockets movement ability to deal with the platform explosion knockbacks. 2. Liquid and Echo took part in the closest WoW race ever (so far) on Fyrakk, the last boss of Amirdrassil (Dragonflight). Liquid wiped at 1.73% and Echo at 1.82%. Echo was behind for most of the race, and even on Fyrakk, they where behind on several % for most of the boss' progression. They turned it around on the last few days and came to a victory. Awesome video by the way
I think the term „Echo was behind“ is kind of anaccurate, since Echo had on average 80+ pulls less than liquid. In the end, they ended up 120 pulls (25%) ahead of Liquid, which is a huge skill gap actually. Blizz should Release raids worldwide at the same time, to Not give advantages to certain regions. In the end it was close and fun to Watch, bc of the time difference, which made them end up at the same results of their pulls
@@simonsrensen4515 They were behind on % and kill count, and Limit got close to killing the last boss first, which is what the race is about. If you want to argue about efficiency or pulls per %, that's a different story.
@@rodrigoa4506 You dont even know that they arent called "Limit" anymore but go by Liquid. And no Liquid was not the first to get close to a kill, Echo got to sub 2% before Liquid did
Always a pleasure watching the older kill videos and seeing names I used to funny enough look up to in a weird way as a child back in Vanilla. I will always remember names like Kungen, Buzzkill, Seijta and more. Legends of the game simply because they were the best
As hype as it has been watching the RWF lately, the sudden it highlights an issue with boss design since BfA Ever since Azshara, the kills all have every player alive, maybe 1 or 2 dead, because every single mechanic that can cause you to lose a player is just an instant wipe. Maybe it's technically harder this way, but we are missing out on experiences like Lei Shen, Blackhand and the ridiculous Garrosh kill where there is the posibility to make a miracle happen, to push your raid to it's very last hair and just barely get across the finish line. Progressing a boss feels binary, either you do it all right and you kill it or you don't and you wipe. There's no margin of error, and as such it's hard to have those moments where we shine.
10/10 Video! I'd love to see number of attempts, and possibly second/third places finishers as well (just stats) so that we can see how close the races were! Love the idea though!
Awesome update. I still think Sylvanas was the best one, with Echo somehow squeezing out an extra 5% to cover the Mythic phase, even when it seemed impossible.
Love the video. Hate the people who make these while calling the players degenerate, loser, no life trash cans. These people dedicate themselves and over time made a living off of being insanely good at something they love. Respect.
you are wrong. Paragon was a merge and had many players from my previous guild Beyond redemption in vanilla. Such as seijta, Jharzun and few others which i cant remember. Plus they merged with another finnish guild sauna or something. @@heyyopancake8531
@@heyyopancake8531 Hell no. Ensidia and Nihilum were english-speaking guilds with members from different countries and Paragon was a completely Finnish guild and was formed, if I remember correctly, out of the members of Sauna and Taikametsän asukit.
WOW this takes me back. Ill make it clear i went from original WOW ( right at the beginning ) and stopped bout a month into CATA. Was in a server second guild, 1st was topping out world 100 ish, we were topping out bout world 300, the races we had, they beat us mostly but we got alot of server firsts, probably bout 30%. my favorite was same night progress on WOTLK naxx, we were on Kel same time, we beat them by bout 2 minutes, happy HAPPY times 😁
I feel like race to world first has gotten so far from being a community event, it used to just take some dedicated dudes in a basement, anyone could achieve it, now it's just organizations with tons of money and headquarters with players that play the game 24/7 as their job because they're paid to, it feels soulless
Weird take. It's still the best players in the world by far, it's just now they can actually do it for a living which to me is a good thing. Sure there's some fondess of the idea that it used to be people with regular jobs grinding with 0 recognition, but now we have the highest level of play we have ever seen. It's also not been just some dudes for a very long time now, and not "anyone" could achieve a world first. The social and guild dynamics, scouting and stealing players, all still existed.
You need to understand that 'gamers' as a whole got 100x better as time went on (and I don't mean on just WoW) and so eventually fights like the ones on retail might take less days/weeks to kill a boss or raid compared to back then but you also need to keep in mind that these guys are doing pulls on these bosses over and over and over for 10hrs a day and wiping over 600 times while playing with some of the best players and having coaches and INSANE raid leading during these world first attempts. It is actually much harder nowadays to world first these bosses compared to back then.
Also remember the reason classic raids took so long to clear was because back then blizzard had it so raid trash would respawn on you MID clear. If you wiped on rag after like 2-3 hours of MC? Congrats, all the trash is back up. And level 58 elites with aoe pulses back then were LETHAL to players not fully geared and still dangerous to those that were.
A good thing for the video would be adding number of wipes on the 3 hardest bosses in the raid or something next to the amount of days they progressed the raid. There should be data on pulls atleast from MOP to current.
I was wondering what kind of simple data could be added and this would be relevant. The only thing is that I'd prefer data that can be tracked all the way back to Vanilla, but apart from the number of days of progress, these informations are sometimes hard to find. But I'll maybe keep this idea for the next iteration ;)
I disagree. Until Fyrakk I think Sylvanas was the most insane race and world first kill ever. Echo still on the "first" reset, barely making it to 50% only to realize they have to push her 5% further. Finding that Damage under pressure, while Liquid was reclearing the raid and having that extra gear would've made the fight soo much easier. That fight was just a masterclass of min-maxing an encounter for a world first kill.
@@marcelkunz_finanzen Nah. Lets be serious for a second, when it was not "profesionnal" we didn't even get to watch them actually do the bosses, only a video released after the facts while all we had during the progress was F5 on wowprogress to see if it was dead yet or not.
Epic video bro! Love i! Btw how do you calculate the progress time? Like for example you have Sylvanas for 7 days and then Jailer for 5 days, but Sepulcher was the longest RWF ever (like 18-20 days). Is it time spend just on the last boss? Then I don think Echo spent 7 days on Sylvanas with 160 pulls :)
I indeed shot myself in the foot with this one. I worked on multiple occasions on this video on the span of several years (wether it's this version, or my first iteration) and so the way I calculated this may have shifted in my mind without even realizing it. But you're not the first to point out that discrepancy. I'll make sure to fix it for the next version! Thanks :)
Still get tingles with these. Still the reason i play wow. For me the rush from killing a boss after a 100 plus wipes just isnt matched by any other game.
Is just me or is it weird that the progress duration is counted from the first pull of the actual endboss, apparently? Would make more sense to count the release date, to reflect the difficulty of previous bosses in that raid, wouldn't it?
I haven't watched the whole thing but if you are looking for any opinions... it would be nice to include optional boses that may or may not actually be the end boss but may be considered harder. The first that comes to mind is Nightbane. I didn't get that far but maybe Lei Shen vs Ra Den. Algalon. There may not be too many more examples. I quit in early BFA so I know nothing of the game since too.
Really cool idea for a vid! Just hits different, seeing the evolution of the game, the players, and even UIs xD If I may offer some constructive critique; Number of days in progress alone is not the best indicator for difficulty, to be honest. Number of attempts + days would be good when possible, to get a better idea of how hard the progress was. Also, if you're gonna credit the music and do a disclaimer, please try to do the same for the artwork you used.
1) He's not trying to show any form of "difficulty". He's simply giving data. 2) Artwork by Blizzard. Literally the in-game and company artworks. There.
Technically they did but they don’t count it for some odd reason and they had another in tbc but it was also not counted then one in wrath then in cata they were the favorites since everyone have been talking about this one guild rising and taking over as #1 worldly but shockingly they didn’t get one they should’ve got at least 3 in that expansion, I was shocked tbh, then mop till bfa they dominated no one was better than them, they had a stacked roster. But yeee if you count the one they should’ve gotten in tbc plus another then the one in wrath it would be 15 world firsts technically for method in the 14-15 expansions then in shadowlands they weren’t really a good team anymore since well yea know, they should’ve terminated joshes contract maybe after the first tier in bfa like uldir since he was brought in by then, but nope he had to ruin the image of the best guild in wow history, it goes from the best vids/strats/kills etc guild to well the bottom of the barrel so method would be #1, then paragon #2, ensidia #3, blood legion #4, limit #5, exorsus #6, echo #7, then the rest would just filter in obviously covering the top hundreds or so guilds around the world competing
But ya wish sco would’ve built a successful and know how to win and what it takes to win roster heading into shadowlands to revive the organization and to bring back the team in its own image, since it was tainted. Then method would be still on top, I mean they will always go down being the #1 guild in wow history since they have the most achieved world firsts and world first kills in wow history, but now echo has taken over for the past 2 xpacs which is basically method 2.0 bc you include all the echo members as apart of method since most of their time being tg has been in method now carrying that synergy and same mindset and criteria etc doesn’t really take long or surprise anyone that they got world firsts in sl and df
While i agree that spine of deathwing was the true endboss of dragon soul, you label it as madness of deathwing which is the actual endboss, but show a killvideo of spine of deathwing which is the second to last boss.
Tank Vengeance absolutely soared in MoP, given them things like 300k extra AP. Every tank was able to achieve this but prot paladin was able to convert this to healing from Seal of Insight (glyphed)
There isn't unfortunately, cause this probably would take away half of the epicness of the whole video. But I could consider including one in the description of the next update :)
I love this video, don’t ever delete your RU-vid account or the video. Also, kinda interesting seeing the man who ruined Method on here. Surprised you didn’t redact his name / cam. Dude costed the RWF a lot.
No matter what happened, at that time he was part of the history of the guild, and I felt that I had no right to decide for myself if I was censoring its appearance or not. I'd prefer to leave it as it is, even so to not draw more attention to him for the next years, and people that might not be aware of what happened. That's my thoughts on this topic!
I just shocking to see how the old ones, the Progress day were a lot compare to now, I truly believe Blizzard need make this harder for this ppl or something, I know there is a lot difference back then, but maybe now ppl got geared so easly compare to back then.
Two reasons: 1) Pre nerf electrocute hits so hard, that the only non tank spec that can survive it without a CD is a druid in bear form. Also barkskin is incredibly valuable in this fight. 2) With the original snapshot rules, you could snapshot the portal buff with your DoT effects. Feral was the best at abusing this. A good feral druid could do 100k + dps with good RNG, about 2-3x the dps the actual top dps classes could pull. The original pre fix/nerf version of the fight was generally considered impossible without stacking druids.
If it's not in the video, it's probably because it wasn't a part of the original videos, so I thought there must have been a reason for it, and it was probably because this was considered a minor boss that wasn't really a part of the whole "progress race". But I could see it being added in the future, why not.
Matter is, most of the "EU" guilds at that time were players coming from different countries and playing together using English as a common tongue. But Paragon was special because it wasn't an European guild, but a Finnish one: all players were Finnish and used that tongue to communicate and play, which was back then a remarkable achievement, to have 20 players from a single country dominate the rest of a continent! And remember folks: Usso taunta.
Since this video focuses on the last boss of each raid, I wanted to emphasize the time put into this specific boss from the first time it was pulled to the last, not taking into account the previous bosses of the raid. This is a choice I made for everyone to better "visualize" how much days each guilds took on that very last boss, but not everyone agree that it's the best method. So maybe for the next update I'll just stick to the "whole raid" numbers. We'll see what people think of it generally :)
