Dude, words cannot describe how relaxing and intrigued I feel when watching your videos. Is not only nostalgia that I feel but it's watching world of warcraft in a total different perspective.
Imagine you're just walking around on an interesting little hunt for some magic orbs and you end up summoning a long sealed away evil and the entire server now knows what you did
lol that's tied with: people solo ulduar in dal. A quite dead mage has a very strong chance of letting everyone know, right along with: the ice is melting.
I enjoyed this, LOL there where bosses I completely forgotten about in that list, and one I had no idea was even there. I played for 11 years before age made my hands shake too much to play anymore to raid anything out of normal mode. It was fun watching this and reminiscing of the fun I had with guilds I belonged to and just having fun with my friends.
Thanks for watching, Lorrie! I like reminiscing about the old days as well(heck I even have a whole series about it). I'm glad these videos can bring out some of that nostalgia. Take care =)
There is a summoned boss also inside the old Maraudon dungeon. There is a questchain given to you by a centaur npc in the Desolace (pre-cata) where you need to summon three centaur kings and one of them (or maybe two, I can't remember now) are summoned inside the dungeon. They should be on the purple crystal wing. You see their spirits walking by and they are friendly but as soon as you cast a certain spell (with an item given to you by the quest npc) they become killable. At the end of the questchain you get a trinket as a reward.
There is also " the lurker below" at sherpentshrine cavern. You can summon him by fishing inside that round pipe platform at the center of the instance
I can literally sit here day after day after day and watch videos on classic WoW. The most magical game known to myself and to many others. Thanks man for the trip back down memory lane 😊
With Nightbane, once you summon him, you can go and finish the dungeon if you want, then come back and kill him. As long as you talked to Medivh to allow him to be summoned then you can take your time in the rest of the instance.
smoldering emberwyrm mount has a 20% drop chance for the entire party per character, skipping those who already have it. so if you solo it the drop chance is 20% if you have a full party its 100% split between all party members who dont have the mount.
When I see new MadSeasonShow video, not only does it make my day better, it makes my whole week better. Thank you so much for doing what you do, keep up the good work, love your videos. peace!
This is crazy. I played during a lot of the events in all your videos and remember all that. Talk about nostalgia. I loved those old days of WoW. Still miss them.
I never noticed till you posted this vid that they had brought back Lord Hel'nurath in legion and once again warlocks are stealing his horse.. love it.
I first started playing vanilla when my girlfriend introduced me. I stopped playing for a while right after WOTLK due to health complications stemming from a rare auto-immune neurological disorder. Watching your videos actually was the starting point for playing again. And now I'm back to enjoying the game. Thanks, man.
I have to say I really do miss the old "Tough challenges" to used to have I tested this game back in 2004, and comparing it now it is a Kids wet dream compared to dying every time you got more than 1 mob on you. Love the content! keep the video's coming.
I don't know if it's been said, but you should make a video on the old sunken temple if you can! I never knew about the old one until you mentioned it, and every time you bring it up I get more and more interested. Besides, you're the only youtuber I would want to see cover it :D
Thank you for making these videos, even though I didn't live in that time period, it's good to know what once was and compare it to now. Sounds fun. I've been working on Classic WoW for a while, and loving every second. Lots of knowledge comes from here. I'm going to go play now, but thanks.
oh yay karazhan... how i spent so much time in there... then again i didnt spend all that time to get attuned for nothing :) how i miss those WoW days...
a funny mention: you forgot one of the rare bosses that are literally summoned :D By the warlock npcs in early LBRS cast a summon portal which mostly spawns imps or the occational fel hunter mob, but the summoning portal also has a chance to spawn a rare felguard Boss "Burning Felguard". Ty as always for the relaxed, nostalgic content
Soooo much nostalgia here. Love your videos man. I last played shortly after Cataclysm was released. But I had started in 2005. Watching your videos really makes me want to start in Classic again. One more thing, I now know I've been pronouncing *reagent* in my head incorrectly all this time. Thought it was Ree-gent, instead of Re-agent... Granted, I don't think I've ever seen the word outside of WoW.
I love ur chill productions, the way u use video, music, and the voice just sets it off perfect. Just curious what the intro music is from, sounds like an old Rush song or something. Anyway keep up the great work, you bring us joy, especially people like me who don't play WoW currently, but still have fondness for the game.
Glad you like the videos...thanks for watching them! I have the music linked in the description if you'd like to hear the full tune. It's a remix of the Tristram theme from the Diablo series =)
Great video, hoping for a part two. I know it's a bit late for suggestions but the hunter quest demons were the most challenging thing I ever did in any game, even getting the quest was a challenge. The top comment on one of the items rewarded from wowhead sums it up better than I could. "The quests require a hunter to go solo against four elite demons. A single buff, heal, point of damage or etc. from another player was enough to reset the encounter. Basically anything that put another player on the demon's aggro table reset the encounter. These quests were custom created so that you and only you could defeat the demons. So if you have this bow it meant you learned how to play... There wasn't much you could do to get around this shy of having someone else play our account. Thus I consider this the closest thing in the game to graduating from college for a hunter. On a guild application the Rhock indicated this players can kite, dps hard, manage aggro, and etc. I can't think of a single piece of hunter gear that indicates as much about a hunter's skill than the Rhok. Don't confuse what I'm saying here, it isn't the best bow DPS and stats wise, but rather the best bow for proving one's merit as a epic hunter."
IIRC, Gahz'ranka used to be the only way to access the Pig polymoroph spell for mages when it was originally released. I remember that this was the biggest reason that I wanted to fight this boss back when my guild was doing Zul'gurub in vanilla.
1. Post master was my favorite to spawn as a tank. I would ninja spawn him and watch the dps die. 2. Nitebane-just click on the same crystals you had to click on when doing the quest, basically revisit all the same original bosses of the original kara dungeon/raid. 3. The sunken Temple old area is still accessible through phasing or bugging the entrance.
back in Wrath, in Gundrak. Eck The Ferocious. Not really a secret as his room was on the map, but he was entirely optional and a bit out of the way to go to. Especially since his was a place in a heroic dungeon and most folks just wanted to rush through that for the loot and the frozen orb, not to go and swim in under-water caves for a hidden boss, when people that knew about him didn't want to do him anyway, cause he was pretty harsh. Gave an achievement though. Only mentioning since this was a boss I didn't even know about until someone in one random instance asked the group if we wanted to do the frog boss for an achiev. We wiped twice then just finished.
I'm sure you mention it in your tier 0.5 video but in Silithus there is (was?) a whole series of summoned bosses requiring you to collect an outfit of the twilight's hammer and to turn in research notes. You needed to specifically summon the fire boss which was a salamander to complete part of the tier 0.5 chain.
Nice piece MadS! While I love the game in it's current form, classic WoW had some great "hidden" mechanics that made it so interesting. This is a great retrospective on some of WoW's early MMO charm and mystique.
I've been watching your videos non-stop for a month in preparation for trying WoW Classic, and the Palpatine line made me spit out my water lol. I love your damn videos.
I love all the music you play in the background, I just finished playing Darkest Dungeon, to then watch your vid and there it is again LOL. Still good job with your vids man, keep em coming.
I never got into WoW, but looking at the videos and lore on it is interesting. Just discouraged by seeing people's screens filled with hotkeys for abilities and then thinking how could they juggle all that around. Like using which abilities and when to use said abilities. Also the weight that if I go into a raid or other group thing, I would just be unreliable. And the fact of subscription cost that I would not keep with, unless there is other ways to do that.
Can't wait for classic to come out again. Everything was a pain in the ass, but it was good for you, like a colonoscopy with barbed wire and a rusty nail. Like doing the quest chain for a key to open Scholomance. Weapon trainers. Ammo. I could go on and on, but I will relish in the nostalgia on that day. Life without flying mounts is about to return! Rejoice!
Gahz'ranka also used to drop the Polymorph: Turtle tome which used to be the only other poly transmog apart from sheep/pig - it was super rare for a mage to have so I just had to have it :D
You forgot about Yor from Heroic Mana tombs, I love summoning him in BC Timewalking when no one is expecting it. I scared a few folks that were new and didn't know about it.
A foreword about the Mallet of Zul'Farrak: initially it was not a weapon, it wa sjust a white item with on use effect. During Wotlk they changed it to be no more necessary ( while still being an useless white item with an on use effect) to fight Gahz'rilla and later on it was changed into a blue weapon with a really nice skin. To this day i find myself lucky to not have destroyed the mallet and kept it as a keepsake :)
I remember doing some of those quest chains pre-BC. Like the Zul'farrak Mallet one, it could be done on your own back in the day, but it wasn't easy. I remember spending a ton of time just trying to sneak past as many of the elites as I could. Being a warrior, the task wasn't easy. They weren't terribly hard elites, but fighting them did slow you down. I'm pretty sure my original account, if I could recover it completely today it would still have that mallet sitting in the bank on my warrior. Also remember some of the other bosses on this list. Oh the memories this video brought up, when I was at my peak of enjoyment of the game. Last time I played I remember going through Black Fathom Deeps a few times, and each time telling my group "Hey, there is a boss under here". Each time no one else in my group ever knew the boss was there. It sucks they changed the way the boss looks. =(
I'm an Old WoW player from Vanilla .. the gear was one of a kind.. + 10 to Spirit, + 7 to Mana, + 5 to Agility, 40% fire Resistance ,+ 2 to strength..lol.. Tanks with 11000 hp's were OP..probably had three or more pieces of epic gear..( Earnestly farmed for btw) ..My Original toon ..Has a quite a few of those trinkets and toys from back in the day and Yes.. I can light the Black earn in Old Karazan to summon Nightbane as well.. :D I have another little toy that allows me to see dead people in Carowdare..near Scholomance..I can Summs an Extra boss in BRD in the Arena..The first time I raided Old Kara, with my guild back in the day..I was lvl 69..Such an aggro bag lol..but we got to do a special boss for Chistmas that year ..it was Murkblood he dropped a Vampire batling..along with a Achievement..no longer attainable in game.. I have the ZG Raptor Mount..no longer attainable in game, I saw the Tiger drop once.. I Farmed (for like 2 years fml..lol.) and finally got Rivendare's Death Charger from old Stratholme ..I remember Renault in scarlet monastery..it was hard for the lvl..I notice you forgot the one of a kind Tabard you could also attain from scarlet monastery..(that one I never got, but I remember it)..plus a few more tricks..Did all the Old Paladin quest stuff ..the quest line took me 3 weeks to complete in total..Currently I'm still trying to get the TLPD..Sooo yeah..thanks for the ride down memory lane..keep up the great videos!
So much nostalgia, why did I come back to Venezuela where I can't play my favourite game?? :( can say I did most of these quests and killed most of those bosses, but honestly I miss this game so much. BTW, I think there were some other "secret" bosses missing out. To get to some you actually had to go through lenghty quests but in other cases you just found them. * Azuregos - Rare Spawn in Aszhara. * Lord Kazzak - Blasted Lands (which was later moved to his own seat at Hellfire Peninsula) * The demon which was summoned at the top of a rock spire in Blasted Lands, the end quest would give you a big bag (big by those times standards) * The huge hydra it spawned in a pool in the seas off Aszhara, part of the Bang-A-Gong quest series. etc. *sigh* have a great day.
What a great video! It basically covered everything that used to fun and cool in WOW!! All those quest chains that had you exploring and tracking down items in obscure places! I have done everything in this video more than a few times on different toons... it was fantastic !! Thanks for the video and a reminder of all the good times in WOW!
Kirtonos had a mean knockback ability that if you weren't positioned carefully, could knock you up and over the railing and out of the dungeon. Blizzard later fixed this with an invisible wall, but originally it was funny as hell if the tank got booted out and the rest of the group had to defeat him on their own. :P
Don't forget the two quests (that i know of) that you needed to be dead to pick up. BRD was the hammer quest and the hat quest in Tanaris(which lead to the time walking dungeon).
There is a hidden boss in Black Rook Hold, where if you do an archaeology quest chain, you get a key that allowed you to fight the boss. Speaking of Archaeology, also got the ones in the new ZG where you need a certain skill level in that profession to summon one of 4 random bosses.
This brought back so many old memories, thanks for doing all this work. I remember doing the old quest chain to kill the giant shark named Maws that rewarded the underwater breathing ring, still have the ring and the original fishing tournament trinket that tuns you into a fish. I also remember a neat quest that took place in old 1k needles that had you jump off a cliff, don't remember what the reward was but do remember that i enjoyed the quest chain. Quest for a big bag found under a waterfall in Hinterlands. Did the old warrior dungeon armor sets, Thunderfury and Quel'serrar sword quests and Sulfuron hammer too. I wonder now just how many hours i spent doing all of those classic quests...Thunderfury in pvp was the most wow lol 's ever. p.s. still have all of the Scourge event items too:P
Hey thanks for keeping me interested in this game, it’s been really hard with the AP and weird grind in Legion but you making videos gives me hope for blizzard.
For the record, mallef ot zul'farrak was not a weapon originally, it was just a green item with no stats that couldn't be equipped (effectively a key). It was only changed to a blue item at like cata or something.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but the Mallet of Zul'Farrak only became an equippable weapon after it became no longer necessary to have it to use the gong.
I have memories from burning crusade and the original Nightbane in Karazham. If i remember correctly, the end of the quest chain was to kill Prince Malchezzar I was the main tank for my guild back then, we killed Malchezzar and our GM was going to call the night, but i said "there is one more boss left, the dragon" My gm was "you need a quest for that" and i was "yeah, so what's the problem?", "You complete it?", "Yup, just now" And on to Nightbane we marched I think ir took us like 1 an half days to kill him, but we cleared Karazham!!!
I know Im not saying anything new, but Vanilla had SO MUCH DEPTH. Every xpac afterwards fell short of that. Even 20 years later almost I think its common for people to find out about something new, that they had no idea about previously. Old Blizzards game design was absolutely top notch!!!
That Indianna one is also very reminiscent of the horadric staff quest in Diablo 2 to get to the boss. Combine staff with amulet, put staff in orafice, beam of light gows to wall and wall opens.
Even though I knew about almost all of them, please make a part two. There might even be more that I don't know of and I can't stand it. Maybe even a "missed out secret boss" kind of list. Where you talk about opportunities Blizzard could have implemented a secret boss (lore wise speaking), but didn't. Anyhow, love your videos, love your voice, please keep on going like you do best.
As a player from Beta Wow.....play my various 110 toons, going to bring my Undead Warrior back to life and let my knowledge, professions and hybrid builds lead the way!
