World of Warcraft: The War Within - The solo enjoyers expansion

Came for that god-tier thumbnail, stayed for the great discussion. I've been playing FFXIV for the last 8+ years now, and finally felt true burnout like never before with how Dawntrail turned out. So I moved on over to WoW with The War Within when it was coming, and I've been blown away by how much I was missing out on. The detail of the world and how seamless the zones are, flying from one to another and just seeing what there is to find and how lively they all are. Collecting endless loads of transmog gear and mounts while exploring old dungeons and raids gives me that dopamine rush. At my age I dont have all the time in the world to play games working 4-5 days a week, but I am finding myself just deeply invested with WoW to a level I haven't felt in years with any game.

I play the same way as you do and I agree with everything you said. I'm having a blast in wow now. There are some small annoyances in delves right now, but overall they finally have the tuning in a great place and they are super fun

A warband party dungeon would be awesome!

As a fellow gamer of a certain age... I'm so happy to see them catering to those of us who just don't want to do the gogogo group style. Delves and world content? Yes please!

As someone who played fair bit of GW2 and had a griffon there I also prefer dragonriding in wow. I guess the reason is simple: the dragonriding is basically griffon and skyscale from gw2 combined: you can fly vertically, you can fly horizontally and quite fast in both direction. Learning to fly with griffin properly takes time and its not always possible depending on a map

Like you, I played World of Warcraft briefly and then left it alone but this expansion does look interesting! so if I do get hold of it, you could have someone your same age used to play with 😂

Agreed with literally everything you said! This is some of the most enjoyment I've had from WoW for ages.

Delves are OK. A good way to get fair gear to start off. You still would need to go into M+ or Heroic Raids to get higher ilvl. If you want to. I'm find getting as high as delves will take me. I'm going casual for now. Delves are what drew me to TWW. If I want to go into higher end game I can If not I still have a decent ilvl for lower end game content.

I agree, having our chars in follower dungeon, but I think leveling them all at the same time, would be a bit of a reach, but getting gear rewards for them could be a good thing.

WoW needs more Solo Content for ppls like me they dont give a shit about others.

I'm one of the old farts playing WoW. Played up till the end of Mists, and then quit to play Rift where I joined an amazing guild run by an 82-year young Grandmother, the majority of the guild were 50+ as were most of our raid team, but I quit Rift because there was no new content for over 2 years, and because you could only do the same raid week after week it became pointless. Came back to WoW just after the start of DF and enjoying it again, I've also been trying (without success) to recreate the guild energy we had in Rift.

I like to collect things in games and play around with them, whenever possible. So games like WoW, that have massive collections to chase always do it for me. I also don't really talk to people and haven't done any group activities since start of Legion, save for some very short stints here and there, which is pretty unavoidable, if you really want to collect as much as possible. I like to play the 'I'm one expansion behind' mode, as I call it. I always own the latest expansion, but once I've finished the campaign, I look to the expansion that came before it and ask the question: How much of this stuff that I couldn't do solo before can I complete now that I'm one expansion stronger? And then spend most of my time there, chipping away at my collections, or working on my professions (another thing that doesn't feel right unless I own every recipe and have made every item at least once). TWW has treated me pretty great so far. I've really been enjoying my time there and it's given me a lot more options to explore. I still don't have a guild, nor do I raid, I don't participate in pvp and I haven't done Mythic plus...ever. This causes some issues for collection completion, because some things disappear from the collectable table once the expansion rotates out and a new one is introduced, but it's a relatively small sacrifice to make. Every expansion also comes with a lot of stuff that survives the transition into a new one I can go for and I have never run out of things to do, simply because what I want to do is so massive and forever unattainable, but I enjoy the chase regardless. It's not getting my hands on the new shiny thing I enjoy, but the road I take to get there. And there are so many roads left to walk, I know I'll never run out. I haven't felt the need to group up with other players (or even talk to them at all) for about 8-9 years now and I don't ever see that changing anymore. I used to group up and join active guilds and do weekly raids and group activities all the time, but I transitioned out of that once I realized that I can do most of the things I want by myself now. I don't need to rely on other people who may or may not show up and who may or may not take the thing I was after if we do find it. Now it's just me, walking along this path, going after whichever latest treasure caught my eye.

Great video - I had the same thought as you, moving into having warbands run dungeons. Just the thought of it raises the hairs on my arm. It just needs doing. It could be huge. Throw in rankings, and the game is on. I've been playing wow since 2005, mostly on, sometimes off. I stayed home for WoD. I enjoyed Shadowlands, I think I'm the only one. But it had Torghast, and I loved running it. I did it a lot! Needless to say I'm all in on the Delves. So far, this is the most fun expansion I have experienced in a long while.

I was not looking forward to TWW because I don't like underground zones and this is mostly underground zones. But I have to say.... I am loving this expansion. Because it's finally solo-friendly. I don't care one bit about the story, I do care that I can complete most everything I want to do without waiting for a group or dealing with toxic min-maxers. And I love delves! It was rough at first, as I learned the mechanics, but I feel like I now understand my characters in a way that questing and group content never allowed me to before. And I'm getting decent gear! I almost wanted TWW to be crap so I could go back to miniature painting, but I think I'm hooked now.

2004 socializing on the internet with people was neat and fun, 2024 I would rather just play the game, easy access to content is what I want and to many sweatlord toxic people take the game way to serious to want to talk to them.

I would like if they expanded follower dungeons to mythic and mythic+. Right now they are just a little too easy. I like them for testing out keybinds and builds and learning the basic mechs of a fight but really the fights don't last long enough for that.

Are you me in disguise? This is probably the best expansion for years, I’m a solo player most of the time and it seems more and more are.

For a few 100 gold you can double your inventory size! That allows you to stop leaving things on the ground or having to destroy stuff. you'll make your money back in no time. much love
