World of Warships Aircraft Carrier Gameplay - How To Use a Carrier in WOWS CBT 

1. dont bring PLANE DIRECTLY back to your carrier..Make then jump 1 direction then correct later AFTER they are away from battle areas.. If you dont, they can figure out your location.. 2. KEEP MOVING..use your Scouts...also, NEVER send them directly OUT to a location..Jump to one location, then TO the area you wish to scout.. Moving or not, you are a LARGE target...your PLANES are targets..your only advantage, is if... 1. someone is willing to protect you and your area.. 2. you GET SNEAKY

Just a couple of historical corrections. The Jupiter was a collier, i.e. a ship designed to transport coal. Of course by the time WWII broke out every old warship that was still coal-fired had been converted to burn oil. Which means that in the interwar years colliers were no longer needed and therefore they were either scrapped or converted to something else. Carriers converted from transports or oilers made pretty lousy warships: because of their slow speed and smaller size, they were unsuitable for fleet operations in WWII. The US Navy had lots of these converted carriers, dubbed CVE (escort carriers, nicknamed "jeep carriers.") They were either used to ferry planes from point A to point B or to hunt submarines, as part of highly-specialized sub-hunting fleets. But they were extremely fast to build, which is why a whopping 122 were made in the US. The Independence class wasn't designed as a carrier. It was also a conversion, but from a much faster and sleeker cruiser hull. More specifically, they were originally meant to be Cleveland-class light cruisers. None of the ships were completed as cruisers, conversion began while they were still under construction. With a top speed of about 31 knots (only about 1.5 knots slower than Cleveland-class cruisers), they could easily keep pace with the larger fleet carriers, even though they could carry a lot less planes (typically about 35, including 2-3 spares, vs. 90-100, including 5-6 spares, for the Essex class.)

As a Navy vet, I wanted to say that the USS Langley was the hull of a coal tender. They were the widest of the time as most ships of the day had coal burning boilers. The Langley was also sunk due to enemy action but the rest of your video was on on point.

The Langley was a converted collier. Collier is a coal hauling ship.

This looks a lot more fun than the aircraft carrier gameplay there is now.

The Jupiter was a coal hauler, for when ships were fueled by coal instead of oil. Baron, that was by far the best carrier battle I have seen so far. Nice job!

You know what would be crazy. One tier 10 ship (battleship?) against about 10 tier 3 ships. Would be a fun game mode I think!

Thanks for the guide. As for carrier development in the USN like you mentioned. Langley was a converted Colier (bulk transport of coal to refuel ships) and the Lexington class (Lexiongton and Saratoga) were converted battlecruiers that had been canceled due to the Washington Naval Treaty. USS Ranger was the first purpose built carrier in the USN, though some later ships were still converted cruisers or purpose built based on cruiser hulls

Baron would love to see Destroyers next especially as they have torpedoes being able to use the smoke to sneak up on enemies then torpedoing them at close range would be so effective. Like a hit and run tactic could be used on battleships as they r slow and slow moving guns

I know this is like two weeks late, but the thing I'm looking forward to most is throwing the autopilot off battleship as well, and firing him when he makes it back to port, LOL. I laughed so hard I had tears! keep these up man!

Been playing WOrld of tanks for 5 years and love it. Starting playing warships recently and I like it a lot. Not as good as tanks in my personal opinion but still good just different. I have been hearing rumors for years about integrating warplanes and warships. Would be cool to see how that would work. Have also heard rumors about all three into one but I fail to see how tanks would play into it unless it was some sort of massive battle but I would think they would have to totally restructure the game play and make some massive changes (adding anti aircraft tanks)to make it work.

I have always wanted a warship game to come out. I'm excited for this game!

It started as a collier. (coal carrier) It was commissioned between the wars and did float plane support during WWII.

Yea the Langley was an ex coal collier that they converted, the first American purpose built carrier was the Ranger meaning from keel to finish it was purpose built.

It's awesome how they improved the AC gameplay

Got my first carrier today.. I played this game on release then quit it, came back last week and thought "I should try carriers" and man, my favourite 'class' to play! I love watching over the battle, keeping vision, providing support and all that nice stuff. Destroyers are great run and gun fun and battle ships are great at just one shotting bitches but man, carriers are just perfect for my style of play!

The USS Langley CV-1 was Americas very first aircraft carrier. she was launched in 1911 as a collier (coal carrying cargo ship) named the USS Jupiter, and was later retrofitted to be a carrier in 1920 and renamed Langley

If I am not mistaken, the Independence, like Langley, was also NOT purpose built carrier (light carrier actually). They were originally a class of light cruisers which were still under construction when they changed them to carriers. Quite similar to Lexington class which were supposed to be battlecruisers. I am sure that the Yorktown was the first class of American purpose built carriers.

you shoudl watch some of those carrier torpedo vids on how to get nearly all your torps to hit a ship by getting your planes tightly packed and dropping the torps from a closer distance

hey baron when using the torpedo bombers for manual not auto it allows you to drop torpedoes in a tighter spread means more hits, auto does a wider spread so less hits

i want to play so much >< I learned from father a lot about world navy, battle mechanics and ship classes.

I like the different skill set needed for the carrier battles. Interesting to try an all-fighter battle and just target enemy torpedo/bomber planes.

I would love to see you rock some Destroyers man. They look so awesome if you can hunt at enemy carrier. Its like the total opposite of Light Tanks which are useless.

USS Langley was a collier (coal ship) before conversion and was called the USS Jupiter, a sister ship to the infamous USS Cyclops.

Langley was built out of and old Coaler ship. They were used in WW 1 when ships ran on coal power. They would resupply the ships at sea.

Don't know if it was mentioned but the USS Langley was converted from a 'Collier' ship (carries coal), the USS Jupiter (AC-3).

It's a lot like The Battlestations series. I love that series so I really like them bringing it back.

You want to launch torps from 2 side in like a V shape so one from port one from starboard from about 45 degrees to the aft of the target, that way most likely it wont dodge any of them

I really hope that when WT ships comes out they make the carrier game play like Battlestations: Midway.

Hey Baron, The Langley started off as a fleet collier named USS Jupiter.

I don't play the game, but I've watched other videos. Baron, I think there's a way to manually drop torpedos, so you can be much closer and possibly get more torpedo hits.

Great gameplay. Carriers seem to be for the more defensive players who are better at strategy and support, though I can say that I'm not one of them. Would still like to try them, see what works and how good I'm at planning (guessing not that good ;D).

I've seen in several videos you can bring in planes on one approach vector, but modify their attack direction in the circle wheel Ui thingy that pops up, (or rotate a manual torp drop aim in manual), but what are the controls for that, can;t seem to figure it out in game.

I play battleships and aircraft carriers which is a very good combo for diffrent play styles

Really neat game play there! I saw on another video that it is possible to manually control torpedo bombers and that allows the weapons to be dropped much closer in. Can you tell me anything about that?

Can you get an AA upgrade for the Essex? The basic ship appears to be missing the outboard quad 40mm mounts.

When I play the destroyer or light cruiser first thing on the to do list is send the Mighty torpedus after carriers

there should be more options with torpedo bombers than just that 6 slightly spread out run like you set a tight strait forward launching pattern with all the torpedoes going in the same direction for slow or stationary ships while the spread out attack for ships on thee move or in groups

I feel like they made each class like in world of tanks, Destroyer- Light/Scout, Cruiser- Medium, Battleship-Heavy. The only thing they are missing are Submarines which would be related to Tank Destroyers
