Hi Terry, it is not easy to play with this ship, but if you let the enemy team chase you, you will do a lot of damage. In one match, I scored 340 hits with secondary gun .And it was fun

The problems come up if I can get someone to actually chase after me, especially in higher tiers, battleships tend to rely on range rather than doing that.

From personal experience, tier 7 to tier 9 is where this game is really played.

Its a Nurnberg, but big. Run away, drag enemy units into pursuing you while your team pushes... that is how it seems, then use the ship to finish off any burning BB.

"while your team pushes" is one of the key phrases here :) Also, 15s turn time don't run away in a hurry. After testing T9, I think the summary for me is that these are situational ships, not general-purpose. They work extremely well if you can fight 1v1 at mid-range, but will struggle in other positions.

The Schlieffen line on WoWS PC doesn’t have a turtleback armor scheme and they get citadeled fairly easily

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming here as well. But even if it's not citadel hits, she takes a lot of full-pen damage from large-calibre AP.

I’ve come across this in the Odin and Tirpitz, and it is a bit squishy. The two turrets at the rear mean the ship is almost designed to be played running away from other ships while peppering them with those rear mounted barrels and torpedos, but when you get close enough you sink it pretty quickly. What I’m curious about though is the t10 ship in the tech tree and how it compares with the GK - I’m at t8 on the German BB line and have enough free exp to unlock the FdG, but I’m unsure if the Schieffen would suit my playing style better than the GK… it seems a bit like Odin vs Bismarck in playing style, in which case I might prefer the Schlieffen. But if it doesn’t have the turtleback armour, I’m not sure it will work as well as a brawler as the Odin does.

I haven't tested Schlieffen yet, but I've done the rounds in the Prinz Rupprecht. Odin works really, really well in T8 because while she's pretty low on HP, she's small, manoeuvrable and has T10 auto-secondaries. The BC line are very situational. Their damage output at 8km is second to none, but beyond that it's poor. Their armour doesn't hold for extended engagements, so they rely on situations where you can 1v1 an enemy, then disengage, reload torps, heal up and then repeat. Playing the GK, I'm a battering ram. There's very little that can make short work of me, so I can break through enemy lines and be the tip of the spear. Not something you do in the BCs. They're great fun, but have a different purpose / style, and are nowhere near as consistent as the BB line so far in T8 / 9.

Ah, you were in the Friesland. Sorry about that Drake, he was lag-dodging (maybe), and the Rupprecht isn't very good at ranges above 8km.

It seems really nice with battles with only one or 2 battleships because it can just outbrawl it and then deal carnage to the remaining team. That is if there are no AP bombs raining on you lol.

When you relate what your team is doing and it just doesn't make sense ... Hilarious coments! GG! I'm next to zieten after seeing how old Bismark is now with this kinda battleships with torps and damage potential. Vladivostok is still a beast in it's tier.

I don't think is bad ship but I think it can use a little bit of love from WG but at least is more fun than Monarch, Kansas and Vladivostok. If you know how to make Scharnhorst and Odin or German cruisers and super-cruisers last. You will be fine with her I think they compare a lot more to a brawling build in French Battleships than to the traditional German Battleships since I have brawling builds in my French BB I don't think it would be that hard to play this one.

I may have to do another round on this one tbh, I've since been testing Prinz Rupprecht, and that's a whole different ship, it's like hopping from Edinburgh to Neptune - at first, it's like two different worlds, but once you get used to the particularities of the line...

The design is a bit quirky, but to their credit, that's legit what the Germans thought that would look like (well, maybe not the superstructure). With a displacement of 45000t, this would have been the size of a Bismarck, but with larger guns.

Concealment mod or you get burned down before you reach the battle. Don't shoot until you are in the battle. Have to sneak up or you're disco inferno German Ships burn easy). You know but some don't.

The tech tree line will come out, then you can compare between all ships :) Tirpitz has the older 5.4km cruiser torps, whereas the BCs have the long-range seamines that were introduced in the alternative DD line

It's easy to "zoom in" too much, but especially in a BB that requires you to wait for 20s before you can fire again, it shouldn't be that hard to take a look around while you're waiting for your guns...

In PC, Zieten can bounce shells 380mm and lower with its other parts of the bow that has 27mm. Its icebreaker is a bit thick with 60mm, and can even bounce the shells of a Yamato (460mm). This design is clearly WG as its rather... abominable. Star destroyer if you will. I find that here in Blitz, these mechanics have applied, at least for me. I angle and find I can bounce shells and you can also citadel ships through the bow like in PC. I'm not saying its the same but its similar. I may be kinda late tho in noticing tho lmao. Anyways, that massive superstructure is a huge attraction site for HE spammers, and its Tier VIII so... yea. Also, the casemate secondary guns are shell traps, which create a perfect path for shells to cause a lot of damage which I think is why the German BC line in the upper tiers struggles in terms of armor and citadel protection. Zieten also does not get the Turtleback Armor Scheme if I'm not mistaken. Also, the German BC line I heard has the Siegfried Turtleback armor scheme, meaning they can get hit in the citadel. Its something like that, which is basically a weaker turtleback and less effective of course.

@@seasnutz9741 The bow tanking for example is part of PC mechanics where certain gun calibers can't citadel you from the front. I'm saying Zieten can't bow tank anything higher than 460mm meaning you can get hit in the citadel from the front, if dispersion favors him lol. I've even seen angling and of course common sense in not broadsiding anything. Also Zieten has no turtleback and starting from like Derfflinger you get the less effective turtleback which means you'll be taking more damage but it's a battlecruiser so can't really armor them a lot.

The armour mechanics that apply here (at least according to my theories) are general penetration as well as the special German citadel protection mechanic (or absence thereof). Incoming shells have penetration values that decrease over distance, they get checked against the armour module on impact, and you'll have your full-pen / semi-pen value. The problem, and this isn't the first time this happened (e.g. Petro is notorious for this), is that you can use the angle between armour and shell arc on impact on PC to "improve" your armour, this doesn't exist in Blitz - doesn't matter which angle you get hit, it's only the armour thickness and flight distance that count. This means that large ships with comparatively light armour, but _without the chance to use angles_, are suffering disproportionately from large-calibre AP, since all that armour does is to ensure that you don't get overpens, and you can't compensate for it. From what I can see, that's what happens to the BC line. The supercruisers like Siegfried have similar issues.

@@FunandGameswithTerry The reason I said that was because when I took my Monty into battle, when I was turning to starboard I noticed incoming fire from an enemy Montana bounced off the upper armor belt. Although I did not test this again because I just thought it was normal, this therefore led me to assume that perhaps angling had somehow made it's way into the game. As I said maybe it was a coincidence.

Not just Roma, Bismarck, Odin, most T8 BBs could have gone through this scenario without too much trouble. Broadsiding Amagi is generally considered free damage score, I'd say.

Nobody thinking that this ship can be played from back , you get to the line of fire turn back and keep fire from 2 turrets, same I did on roon cruiser .
