All French battleships probably secretly wish they were the Richelieu. Well, this one did it before it was cool. AnsiaOrchestra - Epic Battle Theme audiojungle.ne... Used with license Historical images are public domain
Earlier today i completed my 1500 point premium ship mission crate. They awarded me the Dunkerque. But before i accepted it, I made sure my ship slots were all filled, so that WG would have to reward me a new slot with the ship. Everyone should do that, and all it takes is to fill your open port slots with free tier 1 ships. I havent yet owned any of these ships with all main guns concentrated in the front, so it'll be a new experience. I was hoping to win the Giulio Cesare, but its a lower tier ship, and its not "really" helpful like the Dunkerque, due to the fact that theres no Italian battleship tech tree. So I can use the Dunkerque to train BB commanders from other battleships, but the Gulio Cesare wouldnt help in that way unless/until Wargaming releases an Italian tech tree battleship line.
Bismark isn’t paper, North Carolina isn’t paper, most jpn bbs aren’t paper, besides Izumo. Most bbs besides French bbs, which are known for having poor armor, are decently armored. Not sure what you’re talking about.
well, her armour was designed to defeat Graf Spee - sort of shells - 283mm. She's more of a battlecruiser. Personally, that's not such a huge issue for me - I prefer mobility, and her layout lets you position in ways to compensate.
This is a great ship and my first premium I bought. She was before the De Grasse I think. As long as nobody catches you from behind you’re going to be ok. Just for fun play her main guns on HE. Rather spectacular!
Don't think I've tried her with HE, will give it a shot. And "catching from behind" isn't necessarily that bad - she's quick, and her secondaries can be a nasty surprise for any DD that tries to sneak up. My bigger problem is BB AP into my broadside :)
Nice video bro! Dunkerque is one of my favorite ships! You dont have to be broadside making it harder to penetrate and her front facing guns are just powerful!
she is a really nice ship to play mid-tier. While the guns are low calibre for tier 6, and can't punch through belt armour, they can still get through the deck, making her even more annoying at range :)

I like watching your ship videos, especially the ones of the ships that I don't play but might face off against. It's like Sun Tzu wrote, "If you know the enemy and you know yourself, in a hundred battles you will never be in peril", which kinda translates to WoW if you also add: "given your team doesn't act like absolute melons." Keep up the vids Terry, they are a pleasure to watch!
thanks mate, much appreciated! And Sun Tzu has a very good point here - if you know what an enemy ship can do, and what they can't, and you have an idea how they're likely to play, that's a huge advantage.
I won this ship from a challenge. My experience with this French beauty has been interesting so far. It's speed is very unconventional for a battleship. In the beginning of a battle, I fire HE shells with its main guns, thus playing with it like a destroyers' hunter!! I have observed that though it's armor isn't very thick, the hp repair consumable increases its HP to considerable amount, which becomes critical in a close combat with enemy battleships. I just love it!! 🇫🇷🇫🇷
hahaha sorry Nathan... it's true, I still don't have one - what you see is me playing on my personal account. Mostly because I feel like it'd spoil the game for me if everything was unlocked - I like the excitement of driving a ship for the very first time.
The ship that big bodies the cruisers everywhere. But I regularly get all bounces on Fuso's armor and the New Mexico I only get half pens. But I don't mind when you can slam a Omaha to death or smack a Nurnberg to the next map.
try hitting BBs at longer range. The 330s don't have enough power to punch through the belt, but they can citadel through the deck when dropping in from above.
Citadel happens when the shell has enough penetration against the armour area it hits to get through, and not enough penetration that it doesn't come out the other side again. Especially some of the extremely lightly armoured cruisers in mid-tier (the USN ones, for example) are actually better to hit with HE sometimes, although I find the 330s to be excellent for that (just like the German 283s). Against BBs, you'll not get through the belt with these (that's not what the Dunkerque was built for), so aim at the deck, or try long range - you'll mostly encounter WW1 era ships at mid-tier, and they often don't have the best deck armour against plunging fire.
She’s a really good ship. I won her a few months ago, and she’s basically a smaller Richelieu! From playing both ships they preform very similar in battle with one being speedy and the other kind of tanky and harder hitting.
Richie is pretty quick as well. I love how the Italians built Roma to deal with the Dunkerque, and then the French built Richelieu to deal with the Roma. We'll have to see which tier 8 BB is better :)
I've got a first review out for the Curry, but I'll have a lot more practice to do before I can make solid recommendations. Unless you're offering to contribute, of course, that's always welcome :)
@@FunandGameswithTerry That's some luck right there! Typically, the odds of actually receiving a crate's ship are somewhere between 1% - 2.5%..! Odds are, you'd need to open between 40-100 crates to win the ship! How many crates did you have to open to win the Dunkerque? I got my Dunkerque the old fashioned way........ It was awarded to me from the 1,500 point premium ship mission. In that mission, I believe you are guaranteed to win a ship, and there are something like 12-15 possible ships of tiers 5-6. In my long lost original WOWSB account, I won the tier 6 premium German destroyer. But in this, my only other account, I won Dunkerque. I haven't yet played it much, because I haven't yet taken the time to figure out how to play it, and of the very few random battles I have played with Dunkerque, I've had 1 or 2 that didn't turn out well.
yup, just like her big sister :) But you can also move, when needed - unlike in, say, the Nelson, where you have to position yourself strategically, which makes this one easier to play imo.
Its really enjoyable how you give the historical aspect in own words kinda, always worth a smile I managed to always miss out on the dunki and degrass 😢 now i dont want to buy cause i got stronger ships like warspite .. but i hope to get them from an event one day
Thanks! I do have to research some details, but I'm generally somewhat familiar with WW1&2 lore. Started as a kid, when we had plenty of WW2 documentaries on TV in Germany. The De Grasse is a good ship, but only minor differences from the Galissonniere. Dunkerque is much more interesting imo, due to the unusual gun layout.
