Here's our First Look at Tier VII Premium Italian destroyer FR25. FR25 is essentially what you get by adding Italian ammunition to Tier VII French destroyer Vaquelin. Her torpedoes are significantly better than what is offered in much of the rest of the Italian destroyer line, but her guns have some... odd compromises. Let's take a tour around the ship and see what else is going on.
FROM WARGAMING:
Hit points - 19,000. Plating - 16 mm.
Main battery - 5x1 139 mm. Firing range - 12.7 km.
Maximum HE shell damage - 2,000. HE shell armor penetration - 23 mm. Chance to cause fire - 9%. HE initial velocity - 700 m/s.
Maximum SAP shell damage - 2,700. SAP shell armor penetration - 39 mm. SAP initial velocity - 700 m/s.
Reload time - 6.6 s. 180 degree turn time - 15.0 s. Maximum dispersion - 110 m. Sigma - 2.00.
Torpedo tubes - 2x3 550 mm. Maximum damage - 14,833. Range - 8.0 km. Speed - 68 kt. Reload time - 80 s. Launcher 180 degree turn time - 7.2 s. Torpedo detectability - 1.4 km.
AA defense: 2x2 20.0 mm., 4x2 37.0 mm.
AA defense short-range: continuous damage per second - 21, hit probability - 95 %, action zone - 2.0 km;
AA defense mid-range: continuous damage per second - 116, hit probability - 100 %, action zone - 3.5 km;
Maximum speed - 36.0 kt. Turning circle radius - 690 m. Rudder shift time - 4.4 s. Surface detectability - 7.2 km. Air detectability - 3.6 km. Detectability after firing main guns in smoke - 2.9 km.
Available consumables:
Slot 1 - Damage Control Party.
Slot 2 - Exhaust Smoke Generator (Action time 30 s; Dispersion time 10 s; Radius 450.0 m; Reload time 90 s; Charges 4).

Dear Mom and Dad, Went for a walk this morning along the Italian Navy area where their new Destroyer design is moored. Happy to be back aboard MAHAN. How are the lilac bushes by the sidewalk? Did uncle Ray finally by the new ‘41 Buick Roadmaster he was talking about? Sure would love to see it if I can ever get out ExO to give me leave! Well, nothing else to write home about. I’ll write a real letter if something worth the ink and paper comes along. Love always, your sailor son. P.S. Tell sis not to date any sailors.

Sir Raptor! FR25 is indeed a Guepard class, rather than a Vaq, hence the differing torpedo armament and lines to Vauquelin herself. As well as that, in a devblog that came out just today, this fine ship had her torpedo range slashed from 8 to 6 km

@@SeaRaptorin history Italy during world war 2 salvage Guepard class destroyers I cant remember from which french Port I think Toulon and since Italy never got around to fix them up and comission them into their navy well what we see with FR25 is the more likely end product if Italy did repair these Guepard class destroyers that they salvaged

I wonder if this ship gets the French DD central area damage saturation gimic the standard French DDs get? Over all, WHY? Is it something WG has about captured French DDs, the Germans have one too? The gimped shell power could be explained as poor quality Italian shell production? With all the new RM DDs they could have used, they did this? I guess WG is not sure how the new DDs will balance so are not going to risk an OP premium ship they can't buff/nerf this early? Maybe later they will come up with a tier eight ship that is better, and has to exist in maybe a harsher game climate? Overall I am disappointed with WG here. But my disappointment with WG is becoming a thing the last year or so.

Wow. Those shell velocities are TERRIBLE. Slowest shells in game? Typo? Other than the health pool this thing looks extremely mediocre.

No, the USN 5"/38s have a sub-800m/s velocity.

@@SeaRaptor FR25 are 700m/s flat. I don't recall ever seeing anything slower, but I could be mistaken. Also, nerf to torp range on test. Italian DDs are looking more and more like a hard pass for me.
