An Izumo with the word Hyperweapon plastered all over it. A year ago this would have been a joke, but things have been a little different for a while now. Also, Hyperweapon's the name of the player sailing it, so he probably wouldn't have seen the funny side anyway.

Grinding through the Izumo used to be a rite of passage for those that yearned for Hotel Yamato. Every Yammy player used to be in a brotherhood of players that suffered the insufferable Izumo to the very end (or chickened out and free xp'ed it)

I suspect the 4 citadel / 6 hit shot was a case of one of the penetrations being against the torpedo bulge, which then went on to penetrate the belt for a citadel.

At least one of the shots at 14:25 fell well short, too. This leads me to the conclusion that a citadel awards both a hit and a citadel ribbon - so in this instance he scored six hits, four of which were citadels, not six plus four citadels.

you have to penatrate to get a citadel hit, so it is 6 penatrations where 4 of them found the citadel.

I loved the izumo even before its recent buff, I never had a problem with its main guns lazer accuracy load HE can even one shot destroyers. Still burns like crazy though. AA haha japanese tree laughs at this idea. Yamato was my first tier 10 got her 3 years ago.

I’ve been playing this game since August of 2015 (the tail-end of open beta) and I took such a long time to reach high tier that the only ships I remember as they were are ships that haven’t changed much, the Gnevny, and the old USN CAs from T6-T9. The point is I’ve heard of and joked about the Izumo’s shitiness, but I’ve never had to experience it myself.

I'm pretty sure citadels are counted as pens (if you have one pen and one cit, it's just one hit not two). But I don't know much so I might be wrong.

Jingles - can you tell me what nations had carrier-based planes armed with rockets IRL? I don’t play carriers at all, so I don’t know if the rocket attack planes are available to all nations at all levels or just certain nations and levels.

Well ACTUALLY Jingles, modules like torpedo launchers and turrets do have hitpoints. You don't see them and they are not part of your ship's HP, but reducing the module HP to 0 will lead to a module beeing destroyed. Not that it matters in 95% of all cases, because mostly the ships are destroyed before the turrets are knocked out for good, but it still is damage. Although it is no damage that you can see in your battle results. I recomment the "How it Works" playlist on the official WOWS youtube channle for further information on this and many other matters. Of course that doesn't change the fact that it's very unpleasant to score 1 overpen and 3 pens and only the overpen does damage to the hull xD

THe pen count is not off. 6 pens and the citadel ribbons are different. so out of these 6 pens, he did 5 citadels.

That turret arrangement is positively anti-Japanese. Almost every class of Japanese warship in WWII was designed with an almost maniacal bias towards offence. But the Izamo's turrets are arranged for a captain who is RUNNING AWAY! Weird.

You always get a penetration ribbon plus a citadel ribbon for scoreing a citadelhit. So it was 6 penetrations, 4 of which were citadels :)

When the game started back in the day, citadels were treated separately from normal hits. I think WG fiddled with it a bit. May be old code left over? Dunno, but its different now for sure

you don't get penetration ribbon when the round hit the water but still has the force to penetrate the armor. I remember doing 4k damage to a ship when the ribbon showed i only got one over pen.

This must have literally changed last patch for me to be wrong, but citadels count _separately_ from the regular penetration ribbon. What happened here was more likely a double-pen bug of some kind.
