World of Warships- Max Immelmann First Impressions

I wish they gave back different BALANCED loadouts to CVs so each captain could customize his CV for whatever role they need. Could be interesting to see CVs that give up some plane type for a faster reload on another strike squadron. But then again, WG cannot balance current loadouts, so balancing different loadouts is a fairy tale...

Finished gold league all the way to rank 1 with almost exclusively Immelmann. Don't fly over targets - drop the bombs, press S and turn around, this way you can avoid most of the AA, and CV's fighter - sniped many FDRs using this method, 5 minutes into the game enemy CV was gone, with 4-5 planes lost which just regen in that time. It also allows targeting AA blobs by going for ships at the edges, and avoiding the no-fly zones. Swap secondaries skill for planes speed, and switch 3rd mod for secondaries upgrade, torps are slow and 5% won't change that, in fact, you can use their low speed and high range (6km) to spam smoked up ships with double drops they can't easily avoid. Also dropping on the first line is quite viable against DDs, 2nd line is usable against cruisers to ensure they can't dodge easily. I would recommend dropping secondary armament expert and repair specialist in favour of shorter torp arming distance and last gasp too. I consider Immelmann to be much stronger then FDR (got both, played both), avoiding AA works much better then tanking with plane HP, and skip bombs are much better against destroyers. FDR gets hard countered by ships like Marceau, Immelmann has tools against all classes, basically.

Got this baby a month ago and t10 matches became a lot more joyfull. Especially when i can skipf***k a Shimakaze :P

You dont have to hit the 3rd line with the bombs. I.e. You Can drop on DDs on the 1st line. Much easier 😉

Gimmick for Immelman, for me atleast, is to use her skip bombers to harrass and make the enemies use their DCP to put out the fire, then use the torp planes as the main damage dealer.. And theres no need to do the pre-drop on the first squadron since she has a very descent aircraft restoration time, more repair party consumable on her torp planes. It makes your damage output kinda slow to come by. If can, drop the Skip bombers on the farthest line against cruisers and battleship, then make a quick U-turn so you wont go within their mid-range AA.

Max is actually capable of doing serious damage to DDs with her skip bombers. The key is to try and hit the DD with the first line. You want to drop just before the DDs hull so the bombs hit it with the first “skip.” You can really chunk them that way and it’s a lot more reliable than trying to drop directly on top of the DD.

Hey CC, you missed on the fundamental gimmick of the skip bombers: once you dropped the bombs, hit the breaks and do hard turn. This will avoid mid to short range flak and thus mitigate damage significantly. You actually don't pre-drop but due to these hard turns are able to attack at least twice often 3 times if its a single ship. Also the bombs arm on the first drop. You can directly drop on the target. For DDs its advisable to go for the 2nd skip line as the spread is ok and the bombs skip to it fast enough to catch on DDs. Inmelmann is actually very strong, esoecially given the fast re-build of planes and the option to avoid most AA

Max immelman is my second favorite ship after Marceau. It was very much worth the 196k coal (coupon price) i spent

8:24 There is actually another CV with only 2 plane types. The British tier 8 premium has only Rocket planes and Bombers with no torpedo planes. Then there's also Graf Zeppelin that as of the latest patch only has Torpedo Bombers. Also there's a neat trick top learn with immelman skip bombers. After dropping from the furthest line immediately start turning while the camera is still on the bombs. After a second or so start boosting. By the time your post drop invulnerability wears off your planes will be almost or already out of medium AA range. But if you keep going straight like you did in 8:15 you will exit invulnerability on top of the enemy ship. And if it has halfway decent AA you will easily lose a plane or two. Pulling that move off against ship without excessively long range AA (Minotaur, both tier 10 soviet cruisers that all have well over 6.0 km range etc.) pretty much lets you drop 10-11 bombs on them in one sortie. Those bombers don't do as much damage as their american counterparts but their speed and long range lets them pummel and set ships on fire very consistently with minimal losses..

My best game with Immelmann was 180k. It's actually a really fun carrier to play. I still absolutely hate the class, but on my journey to get K.Albert, I got 60k coal and Immelmann was also missing in my collection of german ships. Even though I rarely play it, it's the only CV that I actually enjoy playing, when I decide to. Dropping DDs is not that hard, rng based of course, but not too difficult. You can drop the bombs on the first line just before the DD broadside and 1-2 should hit pretty often, resulting in 3-7k damage+fires. Getting high damage with it is acutlally not too hard, as with pretty much every CV. Just focus a ship till it dmcs and go for perma fires and floods. That's it.

the skip bomber's bomb arm as soon as they are dropped so you can also just use the 1st line on the aim reticle to drop the bombs. Of course the further the line, the more accurate. just keep in mind you can instadrop any dd you just spot in front of you. it hurts them dds a lot granted they are broadside

France carriers: AP skip bombers

Got blapped by one of these in my Marceau tonight during CB and it made me think, maybe she is worth getting after all. She seems to bring something unique traits even if the soviet CVs will carry skip bombers as well.

the problem with the immelman is you're giving up those god tier german ap bombs to get those skip bombs. Those ap bombs are citidel machines and just delete bbs.

i have been using the toffen for a while, and i can safely say i am perfectly capable of hitting DDs with skip bombers like if they were standard dive bombers.

As a CV mean the way I put it is the FDR is really good and the imm is very fun

The FW 190B would have been a terrible Torpedo bomber in real life, arguably the worst possible choice of aircraft to use as a torpedo bomber. There is a good reason on top of the weight of ordinance why Torp bombers were slower than other aircraft and that is due to the maximum speed you can safely drop a torpedo from the air without it either shattering on impact when it hits the sea or going off in a random direction when it hits the water. A good Torpedo bomber sacrifices speed for durability, low-speed maneuverability, and carrying capacity, but needs to be escorted and should not be sent in alone. This why modern ariel torpedos are almost exclusively launched by helicopters and why despite looking hopelessly outdated the Swordfish was a better torpedo bomber than the Dauntless or with a far better combat record (Swordfish bombers based in Malta destroyed more ships than the Dauntless ever did). Even late war Torpedo bombers like the Barracuda or the Avenger had a maximum speed of 280 mph (450kph) just over half the speed of the FW190B. On top of this if any nation should be using skip bombers it should be the RN as they were the ones who actually did it look up "highball"

Actually you dont need to alway use the third line to aim bombers, the bombs are armed when drop, so you can hit target with any of the three lines

the biggest problem for the immelman, is that every attack is fairly dodge able, because it cant bow on attack you for any real amount of efficacy, i dont enjoy it in randos that much but its a god tier for CB since the haku nerf

If you think German cv secondaries are useless you clearly haven't seen one reinforce an early game cap point. Or defend the base cap from DDs trying to snipe it

Bombs dont need to bounce to get armed. You can drop them without bounces and they do damage

i got my skip bombers up to 230knts with speedboost against slow moving BB's its fun to go in full throttle and use the last line of the recticle (?) and drop my "skip bombs" point blank range on them :p (works to at moving BB's)

The idea of the Immelmann is so nice, but it looking like a richthofen with same planes is a massive turnoff for me. If the planes were different, even that would be super cool imo

Watching this is a pain. Please learn how to play cvs before bashing out on the premiums, you are encouraging people that have no clue on how to play to jump in t10. Grind the UK cv line, very easy to play and learn, but *actually* grind it. No free xp or flag party. Edit: andrew cunningham is pretty nice on cvs
