What a gem of a player. Thank you for showcasing them. If even half of WoWs players were like this Des Moines captain, I might still be playing despite WG's best efforts to alienate their entire playerbase while optimizing short-term profits.

Tyrants_Bane is a player after my own heart. I play for the team, to win, to help nearby teammates who might be in trouble, to try and be a decent human in game. Sometimes that means doing OK in terms of kills & stats (and no deliberate kill-steals), other times not so much. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Well done to Tyrants_Bane, and thanks for featuring him in this episode, sir.

The ship was called Senjo and then it was renamed to Zao. It was in alpha stage of the game.

1:50 there are solid arguments to why aa doesn't work, but having T8 planes scrape the outskirts of a T10 aa cruiser and not having a plane shot down isn't one of them

43% lose rate, 57% win rate, 100% awesome. Amazing seamanship and level headed decision making. The hardest part is him just training his guns on the schliefen and not firing and still he manages to knock it out eventually. 10/10 👍

Memory serves, the original Tier 10 IJN CA was called "Senjo" which I thought was a banger of a name. I constantly typo "Zao" into "Zap" and I've tired of correcting myself so Zap it is. A thought I had though is that while AA isn't what it used to be, I'm going to guess that the devs made it so no matter what, a carrier from any tier can get one drop off on anyone regardless of tier, after that, the AA comes into effect, deciding if thats the only one or if they will get two or 3. Hence, perhaps, why Russian carriers are so dang powerful. They will always get that one drop, no need to fret over the other two.

The Saipan might be a Tier VIII carrier, but its planes are tier X. That's it's gimmick, higher tier planes than expected. So they're basically the same planes as on the Midway, and just as tanky. It does however, have very few of them.

Can‘t wait for a Jingles War Thunder Combined arms or Air Vehicle video.

i totally used to yell at my screen when spectating people like this: "he is in your gunrange! your guns are pointing at him! freakin shoot the enemy! you *******!" until i learned that shooting the enemy is not the goal of the game. lol

Hey Jingles and subscribers. Oh wargaming games. It has been so long for me. Nostalgia! I've played a lot of world of tanks back in 2012 to 2015 and got pretty good at it. I remember the BatChat25t being my absolute favorite. But at the end of my playing days the meta had changed to big alpha tanks and the game were over so fast it gotten a bit obsolete. And some World of warships around 2015, 2016. I've stopped when subs got introduced. So it's been very very long. What do I need to know about current game situations? If I open it for a few rounds I will probably get killed very fast cause 1. My skills are long gone. And 2. The game and meta and gameplay has probably changed a lot. When I returned after a few years into world of tanks around 2016 and 2017 for a few games I was like a noob and a ghost of my previous purple skillset. And the wheelies were annoying asf. The games were so fast. Mid and end game was disappearing. That was a shame cause that's where the good skills came in. Thanks in advance!

Jingles, The Zao was always the T10 Japanese cruiser, it was just called the Senjo before patch 0.3.1

Actually Jingles, The Des Moines hasn't been an AA cruiser since the rework. The gutting of AA has left her long range aura (5/38s) at similar damage to the T7 USN light Cruisers. Furthermore, the Saipan now gets t10 aircraft instead of the friendly neighborhood Lexington; that was valiantly providing Combat Air Patrol for our hero. On the topic of old boots, Des Moines used to have 25mm plating all over. It wasn't until open Beta WG gave Des Moines what is now USN AP penetration Angles, then followed it up with hydro, then radar, then the 30mm freeboard plating the Zao had since Closed Beta. What all that techno-bable means, is that the Des Moines is the older ship; but the Zao is least changed.

Jingles, shame you didn't mention the Zao that Tyrant killed. It was so amusing to see how salty he was at Tyrant's carrier

It's the USS Saipan, Jingles. "He shot 1 aircraft down, that'll teach him" is actually true. Damn thing's got tier 10 planes, making them quite tanky...but also has a god awful replenish speed. He gonna feel that downed plane.

Despite Saipan being a tier 8 CV, it does have tier 10 planes. It has Midway planes.

Tyrant is the kind of player I need to be lol. Well done.

I have an identical win rate and I feel like I try to play similarly to him as well. Very cool to see a player like that have a game like this.

There are a few ships that have usable AA. I had a game where with the Smaland I shot down 50 planes, by the end of the match the CV was coming after me with onsies and twosies. Turned into a very satisfying Solowarrior

ACTUALLY JINGLES, The Saipans planes are T10 planes, the squadrons are just really small to compensate since its a tier 8 carrier. Anyway, iv said it before and ill say it again: IF you want to kill planes in WOWS these days, invest in your Flak, equip Def AA if its available and hope they hit the squadron enough to kill the entire squadron. Its possible cus iv seen it happen consistently to Japanese CV plane all the time, I think it works on German planes too but US and British planes need multiple flak hits to kill. I _HATE_ the "wave" based attacks of ALL CVs, its STUPID and just doesn't work properly, the Russian CVs where they all attack at once work alot better with how the AA works now (since each dead plane lowers the incoming damage).

Nice game Jingles and well played Tyrants_Bane, sadly WR is not only reflective of how well you play on your own, there are mostly 11 other players on your team that can be trying to win "harder" and thus throw an easy or in the bag win for you. WR is thus also a culmination of how kind WoWs threats you with sup par or good players.

And he shot down 2 planes, which is pretty good versus Saipan which has higher tier aircraft, and not surprising since he's not AA specced. An AA-specced DM would have vaporized most of that squadron. Honestly. And I'll point out that his Hydro was completely useless in this battle.

Jingles, He may have actually have shot down a few planes. If he had turned on his Defensive AA. For his port side, and turned too his starboard side. Too use its full maximum potential. At the beginning of the game. AA works if you maximize its full potential. My personal best record of shooting planes out of the air was in my U.S.S. Mass. Yes it's the U.S.S. Mass. I know its probably the best ship for the job. But even still when you shoot down 62 planes. in an all T8 Match. It makes it one of life's lil moments.

And another hyperbolic, nonsensical comment about AA power not being present ... Jingles, srsly, start playing CVs yourself and see what they can and can´t do. Would be a fresh wind of change. And just btb, it´s a T8 CV with T10 planes ...

I always tried to play the objectives when i played this game, I tried not to be flashy or "win harder". It was satisfying and fun, stressful sometimes, like when i got a kraken in a leander, admittedly doing some very questionable things. 3.5k games taught me a lot of things and toward the end I credit my brief clan mates for teaching me more. I understand Tyrant's feeling of being a noob when the most experienced players have tens of thousands of battles played, but if you play the right way, you can be just as valuable as a 10k battles vet. Kudos to Tyrant.

Ah, not that I'm trying to defend the fun police here but IIRC (correct me if I'm wrong) while the Saipan is indeed tier 8, its planes are not, so the poor AA performance is slightly less stupid than it first appears.

What an excellent player, one who obviously knows what he's doing and certainly is no noob. Bane must have the patience of a saint to maintain a win rate of 57% after six and half thousand games! This especially, after the carrier rework and the continual flow of sucicidal teams that he must have to carry. A very cool headed display and a pleasure to watch.

i play since 7 years i have close to 4000 games played xD honestly i have one friend with over 5000 games only and all play since many years so no 6000 games is not a newb and 57% is really good so honestly hes just shittalking

Oh Jingles. The rocket planes barely grazed his AA bubble, and they weren't in any other AA bubbles. They took minor damage because they were at long range and moving away, which negates flak.

Actually Jingles, if he's slot the AA consumable he wouldn't have been up against a CV 😁

To be fair to the AA stuff in this battle, the enemy T8 CV is a Saipan, which carries TX aircraft, but in smaller numbers. Which makes sense, as while Lexington was one of the largest fleet carriers to see service in WWII, Saipan was an escort carrier.

2:18 Well seeing as it's a T8 CV that comes equipped with T10 aircraft and it only skirted the end range of the very likely un-speced Des Moines and didn't run into the flak of the Des Moines. Yeah it makes sense it didn't lose any aircraft. Honestly Jingles I'd love for you to explain exactly what you think should happen there, let me guess the CV should have lost all of it's aircraft the moment it entered AA range of the Des Moines even though that's so unrealistic that its just silly. From a quick google and reading an Antiaircraft Action Summary from the US Navy for the Okinawa campaign, when attacked by well over 3000 total aircraft managed to shoot down... 256 aircraft over a span of 6 months. That's attacking into an entire squadron of ships for 6 months not just a mostly alone heavy cruiser once. Jingles it's almost as if you expect AA to be this perfect shield from all attacking aircraft when that's just not how it worked. Sure IRL AA guns could scatter an attack, but with the far lower damage we are now seeing from CVs per attack Wargaming CAN"T do that with CV attacks anymore, not unless they give a massive buff to the damage to put CVs back to where they used to be before the rework. You know when AA was stupidly powerful and CVs had more direct ways to fight each other and still would consistently average the same damage CVs do now, only while spotting most of the other team while they did it. I do really mean what I said about wanting to know what Jingles actually wants to happen in a situation like at the beginning of this video. I want him to actually sit down and explain what HE thinks would be the balanced outcome there, because I'm already sure it's going to be something silly.

And here I am with Des Moines being my first T10 ship and I fucking HATE that thing.

Stopped playing a long time ago and despite being very good at the game my damage record is not impressive at all xD I am at 293k damage in 4800 games with 62% wr, 2111pr and 90k average

Well played. As a player who plays the objectives over damage myself, this was nice to watch for a change, rather than some 50% moron charge like an idiot and getting rewarded for it. It's a shame that you have to score this much damage to be featured though.
