The difference between Nueve de julio and the German, Sov or Japanese tech trees, is as far as we know none of the ships in those countiy's tech trees/prems weren't actually prisons. Even more different is how long ago they were in comission. Nueve de Julio was still a political prison in the lifetime of people who are playing the game.
I actually appreciate that we have pan-American prem ships like the Julio for offer, it gives me the opportunity to train up a couple of captains in the event WG can ever find the time to put in a line of ships for that nation. Plus I find them to be pretty decent, yes, a bit limited in range but the firepower you do bring is very powerful in the right hands. Its not too different from say Atlanta, no radar, but you get a modest super heal in return. And like Atlanta, she’s extremely dangerous against dds , if you are familiar with Atlanta gameplay then you’ll do just fine in Julio.
have the same problem with the Haida. Perth is in the tech tree but the Haida isn't, so cant work some missions with her. and the devs wont admit it least the vampire 2 is sorta in being a special ship
To my mind, even more ill judged is that the liner in at least the German port is the Cap Arcona. Have a look at that ships history and explain to me WTF WG was thinking!
Yeah, though the ship didn't plan to be targeted by british Typhoons who weren't aware of who was onboard, atleast we didn't have the Ghustloff either.
its a fucking game, If your so outraged by this then stop playing wows. they are a russian company. do i need to remind you of the literal rape and warcrimes they are commiting right now in ukraine?
I think the point about this game not being political is the important one. We haven have "From the Depths" skins which I find a little more problematic then the service history of any given ship. Not that I'm against them, just a little more, this might be the line.
The controversy was really too problematic, like we have the Kriesmarine and the Japanese Imperial Navy, and 100% they were not really "good people" .Beside this is an arcade naval warfare game,WG didn't even have the ball to put real sailors models on ships so "no violence" and" kids friendly "
@@samiahmed5559 if we're looking at their whole history, yeah, sure, but during WW2, the Soviet and Stalin were rather...6/10 war crime score, the British about 3 and the American exclusively for those 2 flex bombs on Japan so 5/10,but the Nazi German and Japanese went full 11/10 for war crime. The French and Italian were not doing too hot at the time so i'm passing
The grumbling was because the Julio was the site of serious injustice. If there was a ship of any power that was known to have participated in a war crime (besides unrestricted submarine warfare), I am sure that there would grumbling when that ship was added as a premium.
if they wanted a tier 7 cruiser they should have added either the Captain Prat or the O'Higgins although it would have caused grumblings as they're both Brookyln class ships.
I like it. I think is a strong ship. You can push and later go back to recover HP. The real danger is give broadside and get slapped in one salvo. If you don't get a dev strike, you are fine, go back and recover. I don´t like the absense of the pan american tree. You cant see it! its riduculous. Im argentinian, 9 de Julio its de oporunity to get the Gral. Belgrano without getting too emotional.
@ Until Pan America gets a legendary commander or multiple other interesting ships worth leveling a commander, there's no point playing Nueve over Boise.
I find this ship does a lot of damage but I can't do decisive damage. If the enemy team rushes me I can't stop them. That's the worst thing about this ship. But you can get a lot of show hits if you're needing ribbons
Nooo, in (certified) democracies (TM) this is actually a good thing. The good guys can only do good things, and since they are only doing good things, they are good guys.
I think the nueve de julio was originally planned to be returned to America (I believe somewhere in Texas) an preserved as a museum ship as the USS Boise, but for one reason or another it wasn't
When I saw the title, I thought the video was going to be about the good old Japanese torpedo spammer, the Kitakami. Bu the way, I believe the correct pronunciation of junta is "hoon tuh".
Hi Mr sealord, I was wondering what it might take for you to give a little love to tech tree ships. Like, pick a few and give a full rundown on them or even a top 10 tech tree ships (in the current meta I guess). Would be interesting :)
Good thing your opinions don't carry much weighty. The Boise is an awesome CL, and has to be played like that. She's not a tank or open water boat. Islands are your friends just like all the other US CLs. Sounds like to me that you need to go back to CL school.
I do agree with the political thing, but I think that the main issue is the event that the ship is related to. The other possibly problematic trees don't have such horrible history attributed to them. It would be tramatic to the individuals that were involved or affected by it. The closest parallel that I could see for US would be if WG made a ship based off of Japanese internment camps (not that ships were actually involved).
Just wish we had Tamandaré and Barroso (st louis and philadelphia) both are Brooklyns like Helena and nueve de Júlio and could be in the tech tree line
I picked up the Boise over I think it was the winter event. I completely agree tho. Random battles can be rough, but I love taking her into ranked as a almost more tanky Atlanta
I got Boise, and I enjoy playing it as long as it's not a T9 game. At T9 the lack of range is just unplayable and the higher tier maps don't suit the playstyle as much. I think something needs to be done about the 7-9 gap, as I don't mind double uptiers otherwise
I'm far away from your experience, knowledge and performance in WoW, but my experience with the Boise is diametrically opposed! She is performing fantastically in randoms. I have to say that some of your ship recommendations (f.ex. Alabama) played out badly while some of those not recommended do stunningly well.
Agreed. Between the horrific Stalin, Hirohito, and Hitler issues one just has to play this game for simple naval war-sim purposes and put the other stuff aside.
I got a Boise rental from a code and deleted a Schors in 3 salvos first game haha. Good firestarter, wrecks DDs, will delete broadside cruisers, but laughably low range and slow. At least it's somewhat stealthy as compared to my Schors which can be seen in the next continent (not enough pts on commander to get IFHE and conceal yet, and Schors is useless without IFHE). Though the Schors gets BB level of range and more speed, just don't get hit haha.
Yeah its funny how YT has specific persons designated as "he who shall not be named" as if talking about world history in a open and honest manner is dangerous to people's feefees.
There is no ship named Hell-aaa-na in game. it is the Hell-linn-na, named after the capital of Montana. I realize you are not from out West, but trust me on this, every time you say it wrong, you sound like a rube.
Because it's HISTORY, certain people in this world think you can ERASE it if you whine about it and "cancel" it. Too insecure or ignorant to accept that it happened and can't be changed. It'd be different if it were being celebrated but that's never been the case in any of the WG events or releases.
RU-vid should grow up and stop trying to pretend mentioning Mustache Boy would cause viewers to faint in shock. As for making ad's hard to sell, maybe RU-vid should actually do their job and stop assuming advertisers won't support ad's in controversial videos.
The Austrian Housepainter had nothing on the brutality of Imperial Japan, it's just his critics were on 'our' side, and Tojo's critics were our enemies or considered unimportant.
Yes yes of course. Tojo and gang massacred mostly yellow skins, so its not too controversial to argue against their version of history but the wannabe painter massacred mostly 'whites' so its a crime and unthinkable to even have a conversation about it. Besides, the 7th Fleet needs their forward base.
The dictatorship argument is a bit pointless. The Kriegsmarine never participated in the Nazi warcrimes or crimes against humanity heck they even used navy salute instead of the Nazi one, and the same true to Soviet Navy who also not participated in the crimes of the Stalin system, their only "participation" if the single shot of the Aurora which is a symbol of the start of the revolution against the Tsar nothing more. At the same time, here we talk about a prison ship which served as the place of crimes against humanity, participated in those crimes. So I can understand those, who find this more problematic.
not only are there german ships in the game. But also Sovjet and Japanese ships. The horrible stuff those guys have done make even the Germans seem like amateurs in the field of doing horrific things
Could you please name 5 people who were anti-putin and disappeared? Just curious. Because here, in Russia, I've been hearing anti-regime talk for years and they are all still around and not shutting up...
We can't discuss a thing...where is Elon? But really 90% of the player bases win rate is under 50%. Who in their right mind plays to get 50%? Maybe people not in their right mind!
*Ships from IJN, Kriesmarine and russia are added* *player base* this is fine *a pan american ship gets added* *player base* no you can't add that ship WG!
America has black sites for disappearing people as well too lol. So that leaves the French and British as the good ones! Until you get into their colonial activities... Aw heck
I don't recall the forums complaining about its use as a prison ship. I remember a bunch of angry Americans wanted her as Boise so they could have an American ship.
LoL, Given thisgane is all about War and wholesale murder, getting squeamish about any ship is just......post modern 1st world emo problems. The history is sad, the pixels are fun. Know the history for the lesson it give, destroy the innocent pixels as ruthlessly and effectively as you want.
Every you said as "historical reference" is WRONG, yes there was a civil war, but wasn't an "uprising against military dictator ship", my country sufferend a cuban trained guerrilla invation from the north, and a marxist uprising terrorism in the two big cities of the country, an all of that was during a democratic gouvernment, they declare the "anihilation of the subversive components" and after such a period of blood, anarchy an instability, after that a military Junta take the Government in hand to deal with the civil war that was taking part in the country. The Nueve de Julio was just a sister ship of the Belgrano, nothing else, all what you can find about that time, is a bad joke, propaganda, not the complete true, the people that lived those times know pretty well the true. Now, about the game, that ship is friking funny, and you have to know pretty well anything about positioning.
In case of "problematic" ships, and this time even in "political terms", becouse onoe of those ship exist even on paper (beside one existing but with problematic name) we have real "fiesta" in russian tech tree... As I'm suppse this is legacy after those russian "Z" lover, fired at the begidning of ucrainian war, we have: Talin, Riga , each of this "namse" are capital citis of soviet occupied countries: Estonian, Latvian and Pertropavlovsk is city in northern Kazakhstan, also currently independent country. Additonaly name for Julio Cesare (existing ship) as "Novorosyjsk" is releated to Ukraine, this is name used by Russian to "remane" Ukrainian nation an in such way dany them own nationality but just incorporate into "russian empire".
Cut the bullshit propaganda, Novorossiysk is a city in Russia. Tallinn, RIga, omg. So what? We've got Texas, New Mexico, California, etc. in the game as well. Kazakhstan was literally created by the Soviets, so there are zero reasons why Petropavlovsk should not be a good name for a ship.
This is just "click-bait" bs... I was around when these two ships came out and there was no controversy... I have absolutely no idea where that nonsense is coming from... not once, did I EVER see anyone mention or act in a manner, surrounding the USS Boise/Nuevo De Julio, concerning controversy associated with it. I honestly LOVE my USS Savannah(USS Boise), and I've done well north of 120,000+ in the ship on several occasions. I also had the pleasure of divisioning up once with the late James Hornfischer for a few matches in our Brooklyn's and wrecked everything in sight! lol So, don't bad mouth my girl USS Savannah(aka...the USS Boise/Nuevo De Julio...)she's a DAMN fine ship... oh and Sea Lord... her successor? The two ship St. Louis-Class designed in 1935? You know... CL-50 the USS Helena second ship in the class?...... Its pronounced HELL-E-NA... not Hell-LAY-na... 😎😎😎😎
Who cares, i play this game to have fun and to get away from the insanity of this modern world. Why would you even talk about this. Just tell me how good or bad the ship is and leave the politics to someone else. Bad look for you dude.
