When I was a kid I was scared to do the quests cause it was such a compelling story and ominous world. Its funny to see these guys just steamrolling the prime evils haha
Well, if you are not a sorceress, and you don't have a party that can kill mobs for you and rush the map while some others do the quests, I can understand you don't make it really far in 2 hours.
Oh well, /players 5 before I step out of the rouge's camp, p 3 on hell, kill everything in my way. Pretty much polar opposite of the speed run mentality.
Amazing. It would be really cool to see an 8 player speedrunning tournaments btw. When 8 players speedrun the random factor matters much less since teamwork becomes such a huge factor, and since multiple teleporting sorcs can ensure that someone always finds the right way in decent time, assuming they apply realty good teamwork. Heck, if people can play tournaments in Heroes 3 then people for sure can battle it out in D2 8 player speedrun tournaments. If Blizzard drops a D2 remastered then maybe we could one day see such a D2 speedrunning tournament. It is a pleasure watching your speedruns Llama, it really has made me appreciate the amount skill and knowledge needed for D2. And you carried and coordinated this 8 player run in a real impressive way despite the lag issues and despite a few minor slip-ups. Hope to see more such speedruns in the future.
Has Llama ever taken a reading speed test?? I know that he knows exactly where to look for certain affixes, & that dpeeds it up- but holy fuck...! I have to put the video on 0.25x playback speed, then spam start/stop on the video just to catch the stats when he mouses over a piece of gear. It's f'ing ridiculous!
So cool with 8 players :) eventho a little confusing, I think you can do even faster!. This reminds me of when id battle for position on the ladder pre-expansion, having all SOJs ready, all the gear, people helping out, remaining ontop until lvl 85 or so.
Many times a bit confused from the cooperation and join in party tricks. But can it be possible to explain why waiting before 2:07 and then all jump into the game and wait for shows up "Talk to Tyrael" Congrats for great time! ❤️
We're abusing the "spawn at X players" mechanics of the game. So for instance, killing baal at players 1 is easier than at players 8. So we all leave the game to have 1 person spawn the boss, then everyone comes in and we can kill him faster

And then the stamina drainers and the 240 dmg dolls. I bet your heart rate raced up from 54bpm to like almost 55bpm! Mine went from 75 to about 100 during that time... Is there an upload from LaV's point of view. It's probably much better for my health :p And an amazing spawn on hell ancients! After all the bad luck. And a huge kiss for Teo 'at least I popped it!' :p I love that guy
Hey MrLlama, love your videos! Out of curiosity do you think it would be wise in this 8 man style run to have 1 person go and kill Blood Raven near the start of the game so you all got a free Archer to take along with you. I would think that the combined DPS of 8 archers would be substantial. You wouldn't really lose time if 1-2 people split off the group to do that task early I would imagine. Thoughts?
I played a similar game before, it was called "Throne of Darkness" anyone played that one? Wasn't able to finish it nor did get far... I just remembered that now, and just asking if it was a popular game or nah...

this is actually a private server, so nothing to do with battlenet but the guy who setup the server uses 1.13...which is basically the same as 1.14 so doesn't matter much for us
I've ran ladder reset several times and in my opinion the BEST group you can do a day 1 reset with is: Sorc - Lightning (static on bosses) Necro - Summoner (tank damage) - Lower res Barb - Bo - [War Cry] to stun waves is FAR more useful than people realize in early season. Keeping enemies in the spam zone. Everyone makes Sorcs and Paladins so leaping and stunning for the higher damage characters is most important. Paladin - Hdin - Concentration Paladin - Hdin - Meditation Paladin - Hdin - Conviction The last two spots should be: Sorc / Sorc - Cold / Fire (My 1st choice) Sorc / Druid - Cold or Fire / Oak I've been #1 on USWEST ladder reset a few times on different resets (years ago & briefly) because this group can kill anything in hell relatively easily as a unit. Once you lose a key player like the necro, or the conviction pally things become much more difficult. Finding a Paladin with concentration is easy, but a lower res focused necro not so much. This run is obviously faster at clearing the entire game... but for experience per minute over a longer period of time the above group is more reliable. (In my opinion)
Ya the team you listed is decent but it's going to have a VERY hard time starting which would slow you down considerably compared to the group we run. Early game Sorc is medium, Necro sucks, Barb sucks, Paladins suck. So it would be really slow to get to 18 when your paladins could start really producing SOME dmg and then not until you really got up there later when the team would start to turn into a powerhouse. The team we run has great early speed (Assassins + Druid) and then is able to convert into really strong late game thanks to conviction paladins and stuff for our elemental damage. Little more fragile but lots of big damage. Only change I think we would consider is having a lightning amazon for late game but she is also pretty slow early on
@@MrLlamaSC You're absolutely right about the early game...You'd crush my group in a speed run. Levelling to 90 on the other hand you'd have much more difficulty. I've hit 90 three times with 3 different classes within 24 hours of the reset. (Barb/Necro/Zon)
Looks like quite a few of the speedrunners are in this very run. It would probably be hard to make another team completely without any of the speedrunners that are in this world record since the community isnt that big
Usually the record just bounces around between who is playing that time. For instance I was on the 2:11 team before when we got the record but Teo was not. Then he was on the 2:10 team but I had to miss that weekend. We both were on this 2:07 record. There are also some other changes like vitruth playing barb here and stuff whereas I don't think he was on either of the previous. Overall though, we have a lot of the top runners here on this one team so we're competing against ourselves mostly :) But we are always open to seeing other people get together to submit times!
@@MrLlamaSC That's awesome. Seeing these runs definitely encourages people to practice D2 speedrunning more. If only Blizz would remaster D2 for modern systems, that would bring a whole lot more into the community.

check out path of diablo, ladder reset next friday . ull fall in love from first second. new resolution, bigger inventory, little changes for much more builds, etc etc.. but still the d2 we all love an will play for eva ;)
Not to be a prude, but if you had ever played diablo 2 when the ladder reset, you'd have beat these speed runs in no time. i know at patch 1.11, i had beaten this time with just 2 other friends. No hacks, nothing. World record my ass, sorry... 2 time ladder druid leader! Lycan, not ele
We do run ladder reset, and we are top of the ladder by a long shot every time. I will gladly welcome your challenge, but I can guarantee you didn't do it faster with 2 people. Simply not possible. Prove me wrong though if ya want, but talk is cheap! :D
I feel like you’ve hit almost the perfect run. It’s gonna get to the point where if you go any faster than they won’t get the exp to finish out the end fast. wasting time to get exp vs taking a little longer on a couple maps. The balance is gonna be hard to find.
Yep that's definitely the thing. I had some bad act 3s for sure but it gave them time to level, which they didn't get in A1/A2 as much because I blazed through those...so it's hard to say how much time loss really comes from that stuff. But I do think 2:04 or something is possible with current strats!
MrLlamaSC Oh most definitely, especially since there weren’t any real player problems, everyone did their jobs amazingly. Just bad maps so once RNG lines up y’all have it for sure.
