Supercar designer, Frank Stephenson, reacts the the vehicles from Cyberpunk 2077!
-------
Hi all...
You spoke and we listened...here is the video that was undeniable after the success of the GTA video that we recently released. This game pushes forward the traditional beauty of vehicle design but not in the future-tech way that I expected.
Enjoy!

Hi everyone! What's your favourite vehicle to use in Cyberpunk 2077? I love that they keep a lot of traditional beauty in these imaginings of future vehicles. What direction do you hope design goes in as we move toward the future?

In 1920 people imagined that there would be flying cars but look at us, 100 years later we still have wheels on them. The only thing new or innovative in this 100 year span is electric vehicles like Tesla. So I wouldn't be surprised if the cars in 2077 have wheels and outside world would be projected in them instead of having glass on windshield and windows. We as humans, always overestimate ourselves when thinking about future. It's great to see how cyberpunk developers overcame it and projected a real possibility of future instead of just imagination.

@RU-vid customer service no because if you understood the true story behind cyberpunks development process and how it was rushed horrifically... Development didn't actually start until late 2016 to mid 2017 and full development started close to beginning of 2018.... So the fact that the developers were able to get it at least that much finished regardless of all the bugs I have to give them props for at least completing such a large and ambitious project and goal in such short time while constantly being time crunched relentlessly by the big wigs and investors..... It may not have released In the condition it should have been in but bottom of the line the only point I'm making is, is that it WAS NOT the developments fault..... It all had literally everything to do with the big suit big wig investors pressuring and threatening the entire cdpr team to get it released or they were pulling the plug being the idiots they were thinking the game had been being developed for 9 years when in all reality cdpr had their hands completely full finishing the Witcher 3 and didn't even touch or think about cyberpunk until Witcher 3 was totally finished including patches dlc and everything which was late 2016 early 2017... Given all those facts and circumstances I admire the developers for doing the best that they were able to do with what they had to work with.

@KarlSnarks
@KarlSnarks 3 года назад
@@The_Viktor_Reznov When the cyberpunk genre was conceived (inspired by 70's French sci-fi comics) it wasn't seen as retro though. The "-punk" doesn't stand for retro, it stands for the characters that fight their own oppression from the sidelines and the underground (though usually for selfish reasons), about the DIY aesthetic (all the grungy computer modifications of vehicles, buildings and bodies) and about the harsh unforgiving life the characters lead. Sure, steampunk and dieselpunk started out as retro-futurism, but cyberpunk was based on the time where it was conceived in (and only became retro with time, after the 90's or so)
@The_Viktor_Reznov

@@KarlSnarks I mean sure, yes, you're correct, but I would argue that definition somewhat evolved. It may not have started as retro but it is retro nowadays because simply of passage of time. Yeah, I think the Aerondight has been getting hate because people were expecting it to be a sports car, but that would be the Caliburn. The Aerondight is more like an old School Rolls Royce. It's supposed to be a statement piece of elegance and power, rather than focusing on optimisation for racing. Honestly the chariot comparison is likely somewhat accurate. I actually really like the Mai-Mai, it's nippy and maneuverable so long as you don't go too fast since the tiny wheel base makes it spin easily, though it does have a top speed of around 135mph in a straight line, and it has one of the best levels of visibility through the windows from the driver's seat view.

What many forget about cyberpunk 2077 is that it is based on a tabletop RPG, aka. it has a story which it continues to tell in a game. So Cyberpunk is based around our universe but it starts to make changes here and there until those pile up around 1990 to 2000 and start changing the world drastically. So their world is massively underdeveloped in a lot of areas where we are further and overdeveloped in others like cybernetics by our time period. I think around 1990 or 2000 in theirs they had already cyberware and around the 2020ies they had already the mantis blades cyberware. So yes, this is pretty much a future imagined from 50 years ago. That is also why their Net is different from our internet. The idea is the same but it turned out massively different. This isn't our world in 50+ years, that is a parallel universe that was the same up to around 1880 or so and then split from ours. If that makes it easier to understand.
