Why have a built in battery? And why pay for the extra cost to have that sewn in? You can buy a portable battery pack for $10-$20 which you can take anywhere and put into ANY backpack! Having a pocket for keys/wallet etc at the top is also very theft friendly!
Nobody is forcing you to put your keys or wallet into that pocket, but every single real backpack has a pocket like that designed for that items. The zipper is facing towards your neck/back and so a thief cannot easily open it, definitely can't see inside once open, and can only kinda try to reach their hand into the pocket hoping you don't notice them pulling backwards on the bag.
Hey dude just wanted to say that i really enjoyed this video, and found it very informative and interesting. So i thought i would give you some feedback. The quality of the shots were really good, and the text tracking was a nice touch. Good choice of music swell, and if there's anything to point out, it would be that i really recommend for you to get a better microphone, because that seemed like the only thing that wasn't spot on. I don't know what setup you're rocking, but a ZOOM H 1 would easily do the job. I look forward to seeing more of your content in the future :)
My all time favorite backpack is the UA Hudson. It's huge, can fit a shit ton of stuff, water resistant, very padded, and its over all a gorgeous looking backpack. You can get it on sale a lot as well for like 40-60 dollars. 200$ is not worth it when you can get a nicer looking backpack thats the same quality for (if the backpack is not on sale) 100 dollars less. All you have to buy at that point is a cheap little portable charger. (Like 10 bucks.)
What's funny about this is the name of the backpack. Kaban (カバン) means handbag in Japan. But the problem is that in japan, backpacks are called Ruck (リュック), or Rucksack(リュックサック). try searching for images of カバン.
Alpha Centauri that's a tricky question. As far as I know, when we say ruck it refers to backpacks for normal use... and rucksacks for trekking and Alpine use we call them Tozan (Alpine) ruck. it's very rare we hear the word backpack.
Terrific backpack. Would have really loved to see the double tension straps on either the left or right side of the backpack to stuff a sweater on the exterior of the backpack
Haha, I just ordered the TNF Access Pack. If they manage to make a crossover of the Kaban (completely waterproof, reflective, waterbottle holder, charger system) and the Access (shock-proof frame design, ejector pull tabs, compact shape and high-vis interior) and add anti-theft technology (magnetic zipper blocking would be awesome) and then offer three different sizes of them, they might become the new heroes of backpack design. The Access was just more for me because of the frame. I have to carry a lot of expensive electronics with (cochlear implant user, often having my GoPro on me) so I was looking for a shock-proof design that didn't look like it was put together by uncle Joe in his garage from dirt bike spare parts.
You presented the North Face backpack well, but the phone charger should have a higher mAh output because recharging your phone only 1.5 times isn't enough if you happen to also be carrying a tablet or iPad that may need charging as well. I like your NorthFace backpack for its ruggedness, but it isn't functional enough for my needs. Now, I use a Gate8 FlyBe Cabin Mate and add a more powerful power bank to charge my devices when travelling. My carry-on luggage detaches: the front part can be stowed under the seat in front of me while its main compartment goes into the overhead storage. As any lithium batteries including power banks -have- to be carried onboard instead of down in the plane's hold, it means I have the power bank at hand all the time. When flying long-haul, ie to the US or Canada then I'll use my Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 22" expandable rollerboard suiter. I've had this for years and it's been excellent. Lastly about mics, I use a Shure SM57 for recording and vocals and it's excellent. It's an affordable £100 or buy Shure's SM58. Many thanks for your video. I'll consider your NorthFace for my daughter as her birthday is coming up soon. Best regards, Laura.
Saw this at a North Face outlet store last week for $69, I really wanted to get it but I didn't need it as I just bought a new backpack. But damn it was nice and I regret not buying it.
just purchased the bag. it cost me 109 bucks from the northface website. Name is a bit different, its just northface kaban. its a great backpack and im able fit things neatly and everything fits great.
+Rugeen Kurdi don't think there is a legitimate way to get photoshop for free, but adobe gives some pretty sweet free trial. Or if you are in school, the school might have the ability to get you a really good price!
This video has been so helpful! Thank you! I was just wondering where can you buy it? I live in Australia so is there any where I could buy here? Thanks again
Warming This video is reviewed by someone who hasnt used the bag for many years. I have this bag and been using kt for over 3 years, and pros: very comfy, good battery, well divided, fully padded. Cons: the daisy chain is decorative, I attached a few light stuff on it and it completly ripped appart. The fabric around the front pocket completly ripped leaving gapped open from normal use. Overall, this bag looks very strong at first, but has some very bad design flaws. Which you will noticed failling the first year. Do not buy it
Hey, sorry for the delayed reply! Thanks for the comment, the way I cleaned mine was simply with a rag and some warm soapy water....not sure if that the correct way of doing it but..worked for me
Mark Stapf oh. yeah. i tried the same thing. i just hanged it upside-down afterwards and (damn) the dirt went on one corner. so dumb of me. i appreciate the respond mate. thanks a lot 👍👍👍
Nice video gr8 review but not the best backpack I think.. It's OK as a evey day computer file office city kinda back pack, The out doors it can take is just not easy to use with only a zip on the top to get stuff in and out. Si I would rate it a 8 for the city/office use a 7 for flying/aeroplane and a 4 for the outdoors . Still a nice looking product.
I wonder if the material on the outside will start tearing after awhile? Im talking from experience from Timbuk2's inner waterproof lining that starts to crack after sometime.
Hey man , cool video. You got my thumbs up . But one quick question . Is the bottom of the laptop compartment good padded or not so well? Hope to hear from you soon.
+Cross Production Hey! Yeah the bottom is padded. By no means would I drop it or anything like that, but I wouldn't be worried with my laptop in the bag at all when placing it down.
+Mark Stapf WOW that is the fastest reaction ever that i got on youtube comments. The reason that i asked is because I have a Case Logic DLBP-116 But my laptop is getting fucked up with dents and scratches, so yeah. Do you have a pic of the bottom of the bag? I cannot find a picture online of the bottom of the bag. I really appreciate your help, now you got a sub more ;P
I see a comment, I answer haha! Sorry to hear that! Frustrating. The backpack is back at my parents place...but when I'm back there ill take one and somehow get it to you! But ill see what i can find till then Ha thanks! Really appreciate it!
+Mark Stapf Thanks man, I to appreciate your help. I hope to see the pic from you soon. (If you want to send the pic per mail, see my RU-vid channel info). Thanks Again Be Blessed
Cross Production Hey! So doesnt look like ill be back till the beginning of May and I'm assuming youll want a answer before then so ill try to describe it! So basically the sleeve is pretty typical with soft fabric on the inside. There is a zipper on the side for easy access. And the bottom is also the soft material, which to me seams to probably be close to a 1/4 inch thick. I mean the back pack is consider a stand alone which means its pretty sturdy as a whole. Plus the padding on the back (like a inch) and the little "stand" on the bottom (theres like this solid rope thing on the bottom to create a level surface) make it basically your computer isn't going to touch anything. I mean depending on your computer's weight. Hope that helps! What i would do is go to a adventure store, and see if they have one, or a similar North Face one and check them out. But a company contacted me a while ago about sending one of there product that claims to be better and some solid with better feature. So HOPEFULLY they send it my way soon so that i can review it, and bring it on my trip. I mean i havent held it, or seen it, and cant give you any actual feedback but depending on the urgency of a new backpack there might something that will meet your needs better? Hope that helps #worldslongestcomment
+Ibrahim Altayeb I picked it up at some point last November in a store called Gear Up. I believe I saw it on North Face's website? But if not here is Gear Up's link. www.gear-up.com/products/view/the-north-face-base-camp-kaban-charged-daypack
It's a older backpack I had a few places that sold it worldwide but they arent carrying it anymore. Im still looking for a few new sources. I know that a local shop where I live has one...its called "Gear Up" maybe you will have the same franchise near you?
Is this backpack or the 2016 version better? I'm a law student and I travel 3 hours every day, I bike a lot. Besides that, I have to carry a lot with me. Is this bp suitable for me?
+Mulli J I haven't take it across security but I don't it would cause any issue. It's like have a portable charger pack with you, which never game me any trouble in the past! It is removable so if security wants you to put it on a separate tray, thats no problem!
With the size of the backpack, do you think there would be enough room for gym attire (gym shorts, shirt, socks, underwear and shoes)? I'm a college student and am in need of a 2x1 type of bag. I can't use my gym bag due to the fact that my Surface 4 and text book don't fit. Things slide all over the place. Your feedback would be appreciated.
Oh yeah for sure! This backpack would for sure be enough to to handle shoes, and the rest of your gym stuff. It might get a little snug with the textbooks and the gym stuff but you should be good! I had plenty of room left over with my computer and two textbooks. Thanks for the comment!
For persons like me who practice water sports and outdoors activities that involve getting wet, I do not recommend a backpack with a built it battery, I work with freelance programming and since I'm outdoor either surfing, diving (free diving and snorkeling) or hiking and climbing, I do work on my laptop using a battery pack, and the backpack I use is one of those waterproof roll top backpacks that are sealed from water, that are meant for water sports like rafting or canoeing, like the Patagonia stormfront (this brand is a little on the expensive side though (read, overpriced )), so mine is a cheap one from another brand but it's very good, it's a hiking rücksack so it has a lot of space for my things
+ᎠᎪᏒᏦ Ꮮ☢ᏒᎠ hey! Thanks for the comment. The padding is great for your laptop, is it like super heavy duty no, but it's good, normal. And if you are planning on making it your school bag, it will be perfect!
