Such a tragic shame to be treated like that after all those years of service , medication may help keep you alive but doesn’t stop the thoughts and memories experiences that haunt you every day , I really hope this brave man , who sacrificed everything for queen and country gets some peace but I personally think human beings are not equipped to see such terrible things and feel normal ! So sorry, my grandfather had terrible PTSD after fighting the Japanese for 2 years in SE Asia and then 3 years as part of the occupation forces in Japan. It didn’t surface until 25 years later after his four kids had grown up. He was in and out of veterans hospitals for the rest of his life - gentlest man ever with us, it was all self-harm issues. They gave him a lot of electro-shock therapy but not a lot of counselling etc which is what would have rrally helped him. I really struggle with anger and depression issues towards war hawks as a result. Someone posted something vile about an Afghani hair and makeup client I had on my Instagram the other day and I almost lost it with them.

My dad was a SF and I remember him coming home from deployment and just wanted to be alone in the dark in the bonus room to decompress. He said that we couldn't believe the things he seen.

I have a lot of empathy for this man, and I wish I could help him. Life boils down to survival, often for the sake of others, and I hope desperately that Craig can keep going through those suicidal moments. My old man was in the army, nothing compares to that life, and it's hard enough to come back to civvie life without having PTSD. I think that being in the military when you're young, fit and strong can defer many existential thoughts until later on, you don't have space to deal with them at the time, and it all comes to you after you have seen and done regrettable things. Being philosophical about things, beyond making jokes, isn't really tolerated as a habit in the army, because it can get you and others killed. I also think there are people out there who just shouldn't be soldiers, not because they're not capable, but because they are unwittingly going against their peaceful inner nature (which is perfectly normal), for the sake of a job which carries such great responsibility and consequences. If I'm wrong to say that, that's fair enough, I'm generalizing and no expert. Every soldier has a different experience, and I am on the outside looking in. This man has such a big heart, he's doing great work in raising awareness and giving a voice to the other soldiers out there who are suffering.

I know a good man when I see one and Craig is one of them, I can relate too him because I like my own company too were I like too sit with my own thoughts, disgusting the way they fuck these men off with no support after all those years of self sacrifice, the least they could do is support them and keep in touch too see how there getting on. In the US, soldiers with PTSD are trying MDMA. In trials some soldiers have had one single dose of MDMA and their diagnosis of PTSD has been removed. Also Magic Mushrooms are helping people with PTSD.

3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (also known as Ectasy/Molly/MDMA) doesn't work for many and MUST be accompanied by at least 1 and usually 2 Therapists in each session which can be intense and last up to 8 hrs. MDMA therapy may also cause potentially severe side effects, including: reduced or lack of appetite sleep disturbances hyperthermia increased blood pressure tachycardia nystagmus (eye wobble, blurred vision) mydriasis (dilated pupils) panic attacks anxiety confusion nausea vomiting muscle tension tremors shaking sweating blurred vision teeth grinding jaw tightness and clenching moderate potential for addiction or problematic use in non-medical settings dizziness dry mouth thirst difficulty concentrating restlessness feeling cold restless leg syndrome Legality Psychedelic-assisted therapy isn’t legal throughout the United States right now, so accessibility is currently limited.

Magic mushrooms and other psychedelics I certainly believe have the potential to assist mental health issues, depression and PTSD for example. Ecstasy or MDMA, will do nothing but further damage mental health, temporarily it’s an amazing uplifting, euphoric and honest experience, however MDMA works by using up huge amounts of serotonin, oxycilin and dopamine in one go, hence the extreme pleasure and euphoria. In the long run this use of MDMA depletes serotonin and you can end up with serotonin syndrome and suicidal thoughts, depression ect. Not to mention even one bad comedown can cause people to commit suicide, I know this first hand. Please actually research before posting potential help, as you may misguide someone and further damage their vulnerable mind.

Citalopram CAN help, as any medications can, but they're only a tool to be used alongside therapy, and therapies like CBT/DBT etc otherwise at the very best all you're doing is masking. Which doesn't last forever. But language like " 40mg stops any sadness " isn't safe to use, though I imagine that wasn't what you meant.

I really admire you. Any haters you have any idea about CPTSD. I have it because of abuse from childhood. Right throughout adulthood. I live in South Africa one of the most violent countries in the world. You sir in my opinion are not meant for combat or war. I don't understand war violence because I am an empath. I am disabled because of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. We as women fear rape in SA. Abuse is almost guaranteed here. I am also sad because the world is a sick place. Be blessed Sir. Like others I am disgusted with the way this man and others like him have been treated by the Army. It's an absolute disgrace. In his book he refers to his regiment as a club for officers. You would hope that this attitude would be a thing of the past but alas the class system and the contempt it has for those who do the dirty work still exists. It beggars belief that anyone would want to serve in the forces when you see how men like him are discarded. The way he was treated after his injuries was an utter disgrace and of course he is one of many. Don't expect there to be any change on the horizon for our servicemen as the appalling treatment of wounded service personnel has been ever thus.
