The NERF Minigun has always been a legend, and there has been a few attempts... but the MOAB by GatlingTommy is by far the most realistic, best NERF Minigun there has ever been. Featuring a 500+ Dart Back Pack Belt Fed system, the MOAB does everything you expect an epic Minigun to do: delink chains, fire darts through properly timed barrels, and fling foam ridiculously fast. Thomas spent 2 Years developing this blaster, I broke it several times during testing, but when I finally got it working flawlessly? There is nothing else like it on the planet.

Fun Fact: The most complicated part of a real M134 is the de-linking mechanism. Aside from that component the rest of the gun is similar to a gatling gun from 200 years ago. Bonus Fun Fact: The name minigun comes from the fact that the M134 is a scaled down version of a 20mm Vulcan Rotary Cannon.

It would potentially make reloading a heap easier too. Just make a hatch on the belt that exposes the ends of 4-5 cases, load them, then crank the chain and repeat 99-124 times until loaded links come back around. A lockout on the firing mechanism would allow the blaster to crank the chain suitably with a single click of the trigger, so open hatch, load, click, repeat would seriously reduce reloading time. Another option would be to enable the blaster to ammo count backwards whilst reloading (as opposed to a count reset when fully loaded) so you know how many projectiles are loaded at any given time

You said “a real mini gun” those mini guns that are backpack fed like in the movies “predator “ for example do not exist in real life, those are just movie props. The reason is you could not stand and fire it effectively with the 7.62 x 51 round (.308). It would literally knock you over because of the repeated recoil of the firearm. This is why you always see them mounted on a vehicle. So sorry to be the rain cloud but it’s just not possible in real life. 😢

At 3000 RPM, the MOAB is definitely within the range of fire rate for the actual M134 Minigun. The M134 Minigun has a rate of fire between 2000 and 6000 RPM. I have to say, just listening to the MOAB, it also sounds like the M134 too just with lower volume. I'd say you need to do a demolition demonstration video with different targets at a range. You might want to dedicate a day to printing out and loading around 3000 to 6000 more linker shells with and just put them all in a large cardboard box to the side of the shooter. Might also be a neat idea to put together some sort of mounting tripod for it so you can just walk up to it and take turns firing it.

@user-zs8eo3tx9o
@user-zs8eo3tx9o Год назад
@@nos9784 as far as I know, there’s no variation of the Gatling gun, mechanical or electric, that is able to “spin up” like in video games. The spinning both cycles and fires the weapon so meaning it’ll start firing as soon as it starts spinning. An easier way to look at it might be that the trigger doesn’t actually fire anything so much as simply spinning the barrel. The action of the barrels spinning is what fires the weapon. I’m not very good at explaining things so it might make more sense to watch a video of how mini guns fire
@minigunmania

@@user-zs8eo3tx9o where did this notion of "miniguns don't need to spin up" come from? I'm geniunely curious. I'd love to see a single video that states that as a fact (falsely). I don't know if I can link youtube urls here, but you can easily search it up. In youtube, search "minigun slow motion". See if there's a single minigun / vulcan cannon(20mm/30mm) that shoots instantly. All of them have a brief spinup time(~0.25 sec). The fact that a huge amount of people correct the "false notion" of the minigun needing a spinup time saying that the real one fires instantly has been bugging me a lot. I've been waiting so long for something of this exact nature to come along. The closest thing I'd seen previously was an obscure Vulcan mod which linked six rotating barrels up to the firing sequence so that it could fire down them, but that was purely a cosmetic addition to an existing blaster. This? This is the real deal.

Yeah, I definitely don't want only 9 seconds of rock n roll with my Gatling. Especially with that reload. A little surprised it's top fed from the backpack. So happy with this, hope it gets released someday, and it would be nice if it was lefty friendly. I would probably work something out anyway if it had to stay righty.
@jeffreycarman2185
@jeffreycarman2185 Год назад
You’d just need a bigger backpack to add more seconds of firing. Build a backpack that’s twice as big to get 18 seconds of firing. A wearable trunk that holds a 5000-round belt, it would take about ten hours to load but you’d get 90 seconds of firing bliss.

I wonder if there's plans to make other blasters to attach to this chain? That'd be sick to change blaster depending on preference and have the blaster be modular. Maybe also make the shells smaller somehow or having just the dart hold the belt together. I remember seeing a design a long time ago on the FB forum that was like that. (Honestly thinking back it might've been him who had the idea lol) Great video Cameron! Also glad you showed the self destruct part as well as, it's all apart of designing and iterating so it gets better and better

This reminds me so much of the MADOX-01 from Metal Skin Panic. Its main weapon is a minigun, and the sleekness of this product reminds me of the robot's style. For the updated version of the blaster, imagine if he made the weapon assembly so it covered the whole hand. The handle and trigger are inside the covering, the barrel is under the arm, ammo counter display is at the top of the forearm, and selector controls are on the outside of the assembly for the opposite hand to operate. I'm imagining an optional bag attachment you can add to the shell ejection port to catch all the pieces, like he said, and it shouldn't be that much of an inconvenience. All that plastic laid out on the table still looks manageable. Maybe what the guy needs to design next is a crank-operated machine that helps to speed up the process of loading and linking the chain. That would be truly next level.

I started developing a belt fed Blaster back in 2018, it was going to be a M60 esque design. After seeing this mini gun, I wish I had finished it :/ I had the links and feeding mechanism finished, but life got in the way. Maybe after all this time it still may be worth finishing. I may not be first to market with a disintegrating link belt fed, but I can add to the category at least. My design doesn't use shells though the links are just holding darts.
