@Dirk Hofman The Quattro is picking up the "random" pieces from the conveyer and putting them in an orderly fashion on the other conveyor. The Cobra is picking up the orderly pieces and "randomly" putting them on the conveyor. The vision system (that bright light square on the conveyor that you see at around the 2:07 mark) picks up the location and orientation of the pieces and uses that to tell the Quattro where and what orientation to pick up. There is no communication from the one arm to the next or programming of "pre-defined location/orientation" that the Quattro uses in the demo. That is what those systems do.

What needs to be designed is a 3d printer with 3 Stäubli arms with tiny Quattro like printer heads on the ends. That's a powerful printer.

the source is in a fixed pattern too.

@dhpstudios2009 It seems as if when the robot falls behind it increases speed, I'd assume likewise if it was in random placement.

Wonder what the uptime is for this piece of equipment?

They're only expensive because new robots are one of a kind custom built rigs. Once they enter mass production they become many many times cheaper.

@willzville1988 A Quattro robot costs approx $50-60K.

Awesome vid. However the ABB IRB 360 will match its speed and accuracy. There are slight differences nevertheless, this robot have a much higher reach 500mm (IRB360 300mm), whereas the IRB360 can handle 3kg (adept 2kg). 5 stars!

i think you have it backwards, he IS putting them in order the WERE random

No it wouldn't, a vision system can be used :)

Sounds like one, looks like one, should be one... But it has 2 of those vacuum-tube-thingies on its gripper... Can I get one of those things with a range of 4mx4m? Never cleaning up again :D

wait a minute, this looks like the robot is doing something very difficult like picking peaces up who are randomly lying to put thm on nice 2 by 2 on next conveyer, but they are also in first conveyer in the same sample, so you can easely programm the robot to pick up the peaces, what happens if the first peaces really are put in randomly. then the robot would overkill. try this if you would then i would see this again.

@mean71cuda , there are still jobs in America, but not as boring as the one which would have required a human to move those items over to another conveyor, if you want to learn, you go to school and learn how to program that beast ... more fun than just sitting there going nuts doing that job for 8 hrs every day, isn't it ?

It would be better if they came in orderly and the robots job was to just fuck everything up.
@mean71cuda

@2008koss there arent gonna be 5 programers wrking on that robot where as there could be 5 'dumb' people working for minimum wage doing that.. then again who wants 'dumb' people to survive? XD
