It only seems like a month since the last record breaking bar of chocolate was made in Chicago!
That's right, just one month ago World's Finest Chocolate from Chicago wheeled out an impressive 5.5 tonne choccie bar, well now a company from Derbyshire, England, have smashed that record by almost 300 kg!
The famous Thorntons chocolate company, based in Alfreton, Derbyshire, wanted to get into the record books to celebrate their 100th birthday. The record breaking slab of chocolate weighs an incredible 5,792.5 kg and measures four metres square. It took 50 volunteers 10 hours to pour buckets of melted chocolate into the custom made mould, and then another three days for the chocolate to fully cool and solidify.
Now that Guinness World of Records have officially confirmed the record the massive slab of choccie can now be smashed up with an axe and shared out to Thorntons employees, as well as being sold in their shops to raise money for charity.
