Well if they use epoxy to glue it together with doing that then pain the entire thing with thin ca glue it will stabilize the bat with out adding much weight. Would also be useful to run a single half inch by half inch spruce spar through the entire bats core and use balsa that is only around 1/4 the diam of the bat with overlaps. If u go to hardwood stores, some have pre-made billits for lathe work. The one I go to here in San Diego had some that were 24" long made of balsa wood and I think they could even cut longer ones and were 4" wide. So if u ever do this again, don't go to a craft store, go to a wood working store and go to the precut lathe wood area... 😀

Try a sturdy wooden bat hollowed with a metal tube in the center and then wood put back into the tube right at the sweet spot making it light and fast but also hard and sturdy on impact.
@theduke7539
@theduke7539 2 года назад
That's pretty neat. If you're determined to use balsa, 1 piece or 3 doesn't really matter because of how soft it is. What you can try, is getting a piece of 1/4 20 all-thread that is the length you want, drill all your pieces and use either wood glue or two part Acreglass. Acreglass will give you more strength and help prevent loss of energy when hitting the ball, but acre glass is heavier than the wood glue significantly and it's also harder to work with(it gets everywhere. Also it looks kinda like peanut butter, for the love of all that is holy, do not eat it. It is a lie, it is a temptress and she wants you to fall prey to her perceived deliciousness, but it is a facade!) So you can cut the dovetails still for added strength, you'll just have to put the dovetails together before slotting in the all thread. All this would allow you to thin out the profile of the bat and sort of make up for the added weight of the steel core.
