Experiencing is believing. I was on the train travelling at average 304km/h for 2 hours. The ride was smooth, quiet and comfortable. Happy to ride the high speed train 👍👍👍

I am also from Germany and will travel to China for a semester abroad in a few weeks, and your videos showing all of the details at different train stations and also the different restaurants and so on are really helpful. I am really looking forward to your next videos!
Genieß deine Zeit in China!
@@kremigmitsahne7197 Shuuuuuuutuuuuuuuuuuuup in 2019 there were 2 million Taiwanese living in Chiina for work or study. in 2023 there were only 20% left! Foeigners are leaving Chiina Now! Go to Shanghai, all the highend apartments and airport are empty!!!
I wish that too! ❤ Have been in Chinese high speed trains many times, and they are so efficient. Can't wait to go back to China again. Thank you, Ken, for your wonderful videos!
Mind-Blown! What an epic journey! Your detailed insights made it feel like I was right there with you. Kudos on navigating the train stations and sharing the unique train experience. Excited for your Beijing adventures! Safe travels!
Oh wow, what an amazing experience taking that high- speed train from Guangzhou to Beijing. Yeah, that train station in Guangzhou is indeed very modern, massive and clean. Great that you have prepared yourself with a bigger luggage, a very nice one, Ken. Thanks for sharing that interesting train ride/journey. Proud to see how advanced and incredible most parts of China are connected by these high-speed trains. Thanks a bunch for sharing this informative and knowledgeable content...a cool video indeed. Great job, Ken. Happy exploring Beijing. Looking forward to your next video.
Correction to my comment above :- Proud to see how advanced and developed China is and it's really incredible that most parts of China are connected .............*****
Hi Ken, glad to know you still traveling in China. Sharing awesome vlogs about your experiences over there. I'm very keen to know how to travel such a long journey by land transportation in China. And now you share it. Thanks a lot. It's very useful information, at least for myself. Looking forward your other vlog(s) from Beijing. Stay safe and healthy.

Not a strict comparison, but 2298 km in 7h37min from Guangzhou South to Beijing West, while the fastest ICE from München Hbf via Berlin to Hamburg Hbf still needs about 6h to cover a distance of 612km, and the second class ticket costs 70-130 Euros depending on the departure time and the speed of the train in 1 day advance. The similar distance in China from Zhengzhou to Beijing (about 693km) takes only 2.5-3 hours (fastest service 2h11min) and a second class ticket with seat reservation costs 40-45 Euros.
If you prefer to save a bit of budget, let‘s compare the service from Zhengzhou to Beijing with average travel speed around 100-120km/h, similar with ICE München-Hamburg. The D-Train operated by CR200J and the conventional Z-Train, take 6-6.5 hours from Zhengzhou to Beijing, travel on conventional rails with maximum speed of 160km/h, cost less than 20 Euros of a second class with reservation (CR200J D-Trains), or even 20-25 Euros with a cheapest sleeper on Z-Trains.
That’s pretty impressive. In the USA, Chicago to San Francisco is a 52 hour trip by Amtrak train. A trip of 8 hours means you don’t need to sleep on the train as well.

Oh interesting, never thought a travel vlogger had car sick😂. I also get a bit dizzy for train or plane trips over 2 hours, sweet drinks help me feel better.
Anyone at this age have the same stranger feeling of dizziness after you read something it may something to do with your eyesight check with your family doctor or take exam eye exam.
Travelled to several cities in China with my sister on the bullet trains before COVID. Our seats were in first class and on one trip VIP seats. We booked well in advance so wasn’t very expensive. Trains and stations were super clean and very modern. Had western toilets and meals on the class we travelled in. No problem with your suitcase getting stolen China is a safe destination. Love their trains!
I traveled from Hong Kong to Beijing by train in 1981 and it was a polar opposite experience. It took a total of 48 hours without AC, shower and a toilet hole where all the human waste went straight down to the track (gross - I know!). By the time I arrived my face was dark because of all the coal and dust from the open windows. Enjoy Beijing. You will have a blast!
To put this into context, to go a similar distance on Amtrak in the US today would take 45 hours. So American trains today are about on par in speed with China in 1981. Although I doubt the speeds in America have changed much since 1981.
actually , you can choose a window seat when you book tickets on the app. The journey is quite far from guangzhou to Beijing, if the distance longer than 6 hours , it is more comfortable to take plane than high speed train.
Yes, I mentioned to a coworker here in the U.S. that it's normal for countries to build, e.g., new train lines, new electricity infrastructure, new buildings for housing, and he was surprised. People here are so used to nothing changing, I think we just give up and lose all perspective.
❤that video. Wow.!!!The changes in China is amazing. I have only been in Shanghai many years ago, and watching all this vlogs in China is just an eye opener. Wow 👍🏻. Very informative vlogs Ken❤. Always stay safe!
The price of the train ticket is actually the same no matter when you bought the ticket. It's a fixed price decided by the train department to make sure that most people can afford it.
What a coincidence!I am a cantonese and at university in Beijing now. In last September, I went back Beijing from Guangzhou by the same train(G80).it's also a fancy experience for me!Have a good travel in china! Looking forward to your next vlog
@@zhili-w1mNo, only sunshine. Xinjiang almost has no hot weather in summer. But the sun light is very strong When I was here, it snowed in may. By the end of Aug, you cannot wear T-shirt here in morning and evening.
Summer is better. There is snow on the roads in Xinjiang in winter, and the traffic conditions are not as good as in summer. In addition, long-term handheld shooting video in cold conditions is not so easy😂
First time I was in China we traveled more than a half day on a diesel train from Beijing to Jinan. Today you can do that trip in less than two hours. What an amazing piece of infrastructure
Since there are many high-speed train lines in China, traveling from one city to another is generally much easier and cheaper than just taking a plane or a motor vehicle
@@TarulWarlordIf that's what you think, then that's what you think. Have you ever been to China? People who haven't been here don't have the right to judge China. What you see about China on the internet is just the media's deliberate smearing. 🤣🤣🤣
In any moving vehicle when you read for a while, you can get a little dizzy. It is best to close your eyes and take a short nap. And don’t look out of the moving train window for long time. Motion sickness.
Hi Ken! I saw your video recently. it's cool. I am a native chinese resident. I hope you will have a perfect traveling experience in China. Oh by the way ,your lever8 might be made in China.😊 Enjoy your journey:) China is a huge and great country!❤
Additional comments: There are 600+ cities in China. Most of them are fantastic. People are friendly! However I really recommend that you can travel to Yun Nan province, Sichuan province, Xing Jiang province and Tibet province. You would be excited if can see the huge snow mountains , big rivers, valley, lakes and great desert as always. ❤ Cities are not only made of China but also the real nature. Fantastic nature:) 🎉🎉🎉
@@zackk7175 As a Chinese, I can tell you that the truth. It's not a problem that you talk about Taiwan, even if you assume Taiwan is an independent. The Chinese people will just argue with you but will not call the police and put you into jail. It's because you're just a tourist, not a politician. Feel free to come to China and you will see you can discuss everything with Chinese people include political issue.
@@zackk7175 First of all, Japan, including the United Nations, recognizes Taiwan as a part of China. How can the so-called president be legal? Secondly, you Japanese have done too much to hurt the Chinese people. You have not apologized for the Nanjing Massacre, and you have also paid homage to the Yasukuni Shrine, hurting national sentiments. Wouldn’t the Chinese be disgusted? Then, China has not banned wearing kimonos. There are many people on the Chinese video website Bilibili who like Japanese two-dimensional culture and kimonos. Finally, the kimono was originally learned from the Tang Dynasty of China by the envoys you sent to the Tang Dynasty. It can be said that it was copied. Even Japanese traditions are from China. In addition, this video are not political.Don't talk about irrelevant content!
From Florida to New York which is just 1,200 miles will take me 1 day 5 hours to get there on train 😢. High speed is the way to go even better than flying within a country
Flying is a good bit faster at that distance. But I also prefer high speed rail because it's more environmentally friendly and it's less of a hassle, and I like the views. China has some big advantages over the US in this department though because it has a much bigger market for medium and short range Intercity transport. Most of China's 1.4 billion live in the eastern half of the country, while US's comparatively denser east side has maybe 180 or 200 million people, and thus a lot fewer major urban centers within HSR range of each other. And of course ease of land acquisition and political organization behind infrastructure are way higher in China.
The price of the train tickets are fixed,it won’t be cheaper if you book it earlier. The price of flight tickets might changed depends on the time you purchase. Some people who are afraid of height they will choose train rather than flights.and also the train always goes on time and you don’t have to arrive to the train station earlier as long as the airport. Even the price are similar ,but the time you spend on train or plane plus the time you heading to the station is similar.and also sometimes the train station is closer to city cbd but the airport is not. So lots of people will choose go by train.
Great vid. And you do a great job with the narration and explanation with the vid. Train is amazing altho you looked a bit cramped---like a plane! Your nausea on the train is similar to many of my friends experiences when trying to read in a moving car. Not unusual, Thanks.
That looked like a fun and very comfortable journey. Were you uploading your videos of China while you were still in the country using a VPN? I was in Macao recently, but you can access youtube there. I'd love to go to mainland China. I'm wondering if there would be any problems with the Chinese government if I were posting videos while I was traveling there.
Oh, hi Gabriel ✌️ yeah I uploaded some of the videos while being in China with a VPN, no problem. I'd recommend having a few VPN as some of them are not that reliable in China. And if you have a Chinese esim, VPN is not needed actually
Nice. I have taken trains in China including this particular route a few years back. Chinese HS trains are the best in the world hands down and it's absolutely mind-boggling how it was even possible to build the whole thing and scale it to the size of the country that China is.
I just want a high-speed train from L.A. to Las Vegas. Las Vegas has become a very popular tourists destination and driving between L.A. and Las Vegas is a nightmare.
In 1987 ish, I took the same route. it took 3 days. Slept in a room with 2 bunk beds and still remember that the other bunk bed was occupied by a couple. The train station was probably just a 10th of the current size.
I took the ICE from Berlin to Munich, a professor sit by mir working on his computer. And I thought I could also do some work. Failed after 10minutes, so dizzy 🤣😅
Yeah, i was in China back in 2018,people are very friendly for sure, you should visit rural places also, i was in Hainan, way different than big cities.
Good thing about China is you can leave your suite case in the front and no one will steal it, the crime rate is so low because of the homogeneous society. Also I believe the reason you feel nauseous and sick is because you have motion sickness, you should go to a pharmacy next time and buy some medication with Meclozine in it which treats travel sickness.
@cheungchingtong Even though the train is very stable, there is some slight shaking. If you're viewing something like text on your phone that needs focus. Can cause dizziness.
I have severe motion sickness problem but i’m usually ok if i dont try to read or look at my phone in the car. When i go back to china (havent been for long time), im curious to see how i will feel on the high speed trains
It's fascinating how amazing China made high speed rail connections in such a short time and America has accomplished so little in the same time frame. I understand there are reason as to why, but the difference is astonishing
Quite hilarious watching you record , squashed between two other commuters . Legspace doesn't look too good . Otherwise the station is huge and hence doesn't appear crowded with all the other commuters .
