Ana Vidovic is so humble....Such a talent and yet telling you how nice you sound on her guitar.....Beautiful person as well as the best classical player in my opinion.
@manzmoez9099 were you replying to jaassil in your original comment? If so you didn't tag them in the comment and it comes off like you were replying to the main post. I find ana vivodic to be absolutely amazing
@@alessiosandro123 What makes you think it is not? I can't see any reason to suspect they are different. There is the same darkish place at 2 o'clock of the rosette; the colour changes depending on the angle of the guitar to the light source; when he turns it in his hands, it becomes darker, as it is when she holds it. The sound he produces is obviously different from hers', but that is absolutely to expect with two different players with different nail shapes and technique... I'm curious what clues you have found to the contrary?
I listen to many guitarists on this channel and am amazed by all of them. But Ana is still my favorite, she is the one who caused me to start listening to so much guitar music.
I can personally attest to the projection of Ana’s guitar. I’ve been to one of Ana’s performances and was seated way in the back row and the sound it produced was incredibly clear. So clear that I was looking for some kind of amplification. Nope, not a bit of amplification. It was all from the natural acoustic sound produced by the guitar. A truly excellent instrument in the hands of an exceptional musician.
I have become a huge fan of the way Ana Vidovic plays, she has incredible dexterity that produces her own sense of personality to the music 🎶 or maybe it is the guitar in her hands I'm hearing...
Ana Vidović is amazing. Not only she is a humble, very disciplined, hard working person but also incredibly talented. She takes so much care about the sound of her guitar and she has a deep knowledge of what she talks about (both musically and soundwise). I wonder if she has any 'Alhambra' guitars, which are crafted here in Spain. Probably she does have one. I will say it again: she's REALLY talented. Not only as an interpreter, but also as a composer. If you haven't listened to the wonderful piece she and her brother Viktor composed together, "Raft House", I recommend you doing so. It's a very beautiful piece. So is her, inside and outside. I'm really looking forward to attending Ana's next recital here. I attended the ones she gave last June and November here in Madrid. I will never forget it.
I enjoyed her concert in an intimate setting in Washington DC a few years ago and was also very impressed with her technical skills and beautiful interpretations. I was able to meet her after the performance and thought she was so charming and humble. I am a student of classical guitar and told her I was learning to play La Catedral from Barrios Mangoré, which she played that evening, and she was very encouraging. I always refer to her pieces on RU-vid for inspiration and also just for the enjoyment. Greetings to you in Spain, guitar capital of the world!!
@@sallyevans2268 I'm so glad to know you had the chance to attend Ana's performance in an intimate setting and meet her after the performance. I agree with you: her playing comes from the heart and she tells the stories with the instrument. I could also add that I've never seen anybody else execute dynamics the way she does. You mentioned "La Catedral", my favourite piece of Ana's repertoire!! :-) I also agree with you that she is a total inspiration, not only for guitar players, but for musicians in general and most importantly, for becoming a better person. Greetings to you there in the United States and good luck with your musical career!! Big hugs!! :-)

I stopped by your channel yesterday to listen to your guitar playing, but there is no content on your channel. It would be an honor to listen to you, if you want to share your recordings here or anywhere else. 🙂
Amazing! Love Ana’s playing…it’s always a treat to hear someone else play my guitars. I really enjoy the way you let the guitar resonate after each chord.
So rear to hear Ana describe her relationship with her chosen guitar! And even more special to watch her listen to her own guitar in hands of Siccas Guitar owner's hands. She could hear and feel "herself", live. Very exciting, indeed.
What a blessing to hear the different tones. And your audio tech is superb. I totally agree that the Marco Lijoi has the most balanced sound. That has been my search for a long time-to find the most harmonically balanced guitar. I can see his guitar also being perfect for chamber ensemble. It will clearly stand out among the other instruments. I spent $6,000 on my LoPrinzi Millennium, and waited 3 years for it's completion. I wish I had that money now: I'd buy Marco's guitar in a heartbeat! Ah...c'est la vie.
What a pleasure it must be to explore what's possible on that guitar. The clarity, balance, sustain & interplay of the tones in this decay 24:48 are amazing. Thank you!
Hola.maestro... todos tus videos son maravillosos , pero este con la grandiosa maestra Ana estuvo de ensueño... el mejor regalo de navidad para todos... mil gracias
What a fantastic interview, Ana is a phenomenal guitar player, and she is right you can have a personal relationship with a guitar. If you find the right one, you won't want to play on another. I have seven and I only love to play 2 of them. But even my favorite one I love most is not the best, most expensive one, but it is the most comfortable one. Redmond is a beautiful sounding classical instrument. I wonder if hers is the single or double top version. Ana when she plays takes command of that guitar and it does what she wants it to, she is awesome. I don't think I've ever heard her miss a note on that instrument yet. A most confident player and humble also. 😎🤠
When I pass and leave this floating rock, I hope Ana is still around and I can afford to have her play at my funeral. Everytime I hear her play , I loose all sense of time and find myself with my eyes closed and transported to another place.
Of all musical instruments the classical guitar is the most beautiful. Acoustically and appearance it is the most powerful and melancholy of instruments. My dream was to make such a guitar but ended up restoring them along with violins, Violas and Cellos. The guitar though possess a majestic tone and is the most feminine of instruments. Ana is one of the most accomplished guitarists I've heard and the control of the guitar is outstanding. She is heaven sent and her personality is admirable. She is other worldly who cannot be in love with Ana her sustain and has a clarity as beautiful as her guitars. From the Balkans came a angel with a guitar and ignited the world of musical expression and mastery. God bless Ana and the classical guitar for it is the music of the spheres and has rocked the world 🌎.
The brightness of that spruce top really stood out. It would be brutal to have to choose between any of them, but if forced I'd have to go for the Kim Lissarrague, amazing sustain.
Which strings does Ana use? It would be nice for her to discuss her string choice and why she uses whichever ones she prefers. It would be nice for her to discuss how different string choices alter the tone of the guitar and the colors she is able to get.
How fantastic Ana's playing is, her interpretation, etc., and such a nice person, I personally am not the biggest fan of the Jim Redgate, and in general lattice braced guitars. But how she tells about her guitar, it is not just the sound, playability, I agree totally that without the connection, it just doesn't work. And how she looks at the guitar, she is still in love with it... So, it is the right guitar for her, no doubt. Based on the guitars reviewed, the sound, I would go for the Michael Cadiz. But I have to hold it in my hands to be able to feel the connection. And as a lefty, that is the most challenging thing. Just by listening to all the different guitars, and to the different players (concerts), it really helps to develop me to be a better guitarist, to help my "guitar" hearing. To the entire team of Siccas Guitars, keep on going with the good work. I'm looking forward to Ana's concert! A beautiful Christmas present.
I'm just an amateur but my reaction is that I would prefer a blend of the contrasting sounds of the warmth of the cedar top and the clarity of the spruce. Could a guitar top include both woods?
Don't spend your time chasing the perfect guitar---whatever guitar you have --practice more(quality practice) learn to feel the music--a great player brings out the best in any guitar--as long as you have a good guitar that is set up to be easy to play---that is all you need---the rest is up to you--- playing beautifully comes from within---it is not dependent on the guitar you own.
As to the guitars, my preference was the very first (though I had the impression it's a bit more difficult to play for the left hand) and the one before Ana Vidovic comes. Amazing what high standard instruments are being made these days!
Ana's got a beautiful sounding guitar. Did you happen to notice how how she played the tremolo with pmim, instead of the usual pami? The ring finger is often the source of inaccuracy when playing tremolo, particularly on the inner strings. I switched to playing tremolo with pimi, and it's made all the difference in the world for me.
@@tasosdiaforetico7377 I don't know how she fingers the Etude, but Pepe Romero doesn't use his ring finger on it, and plays it at breakneck speed. In some ways, the reduces the effectiveness of it as an Etude, but contrasts what may be a "better" fingering for it.
Love these sessions, can you pls include cations on screen with Luthiers names so we can see who crafted these wonderful guitars. Thanks Btw I love Ana & her guitar not sure of Luthier) sounds so beautiful in her hands.🥰💗😍
Its very hard to pick which guitar i would prefer because they all sound and look amazing , having got ceder top guitars i would go for spruce top for my next guitar but by which luther be hard to choose ,have to spend a few hours of playing comparison , also love your videos you two guys make a great double act
Very nice perspective....hmmm I'm going to listen a little more objectively in future...I am going to check out another guitar soon...o am no maestro but I do enjoy the tones of many other guitars moreso than my own. Maton of Australia has produces some real rich tones...
i see lots of great comments about Ana...yeah,we also love her. lol...she is like superstar in Croatia. But there is a young guitar player who plays the instrument from age 4 and he made his first composition a year later. Great Tommy Emmanuel took him as his student....sort of. His name is Frano Živković so check him out
Hello, if perhaps, you have a Silvia Zanchi, it could be very interesting to listen to. As always, Ana is, with Carlotta Dalia, an angel of the guitar...
In a way this video reminds me of the “soundcheck” video with Stevie Ray Vaughnn…she goes from chatting it up straight into such great guitar playing with such ease. Same with SRV coming in half asleep and ripping into his soundcheck. One can tell just from that brief moment just how great she is at her craft.
Ana is the most inspiring classical guitarist on earth maybe and you’re very lucky to have her as a listener to your playing her favorite guitar. By the way could you let me know the piece you’ve played at the time 6:30. Thank you so much.
I am fortunate to have one also. In fact I have it on "an" authority it is more a Smallman because it is supposedly the first Eugene made and had most input by Smallman
Marco's guitar (w/ blue rosette) is very fine, but the tonewood has not opened yet. The tonal picture is not yet complete but it will sound great in 10-15 years. Kim's guitar gains projection, at the expense of nuances in the middles. I think it's a usual problem with lattice-braced guitars; projection is gained by over-emphasising highs and lows. Annette's guitar benefits from cedar top: the tone is warm & immediate, but the short scale affects lower end which is not as "nuanced". For good lows, full scale (650mm+) is needed. Michael's guitar is fine, but the spruce has not opened yet, the mids are not quite there yet. Sounds good and rounded in the lower end, and it will be a great guitar in 10+ years. Ana's own guitar is well played-in, the tonewood has opened up, and it sounds fantastic (well, perhaps just a tad it hides the mids, as all lattice-braced guitars do).
hiIincredible review!!!particularly appreciate kim lassarague guitar!!! sober and sensitive , matt sounding and powerful!!!what's the second song you played!!alain
Could you please let me know what woods have been used for the Ana´s guitar. Wait for yoyr reply and thanks for your favor of your attention. Víctor García ( Mexico City)
