In the time of the "Big Blue" Demag has already a 3000 metric ton crawler crane the Demag CC12000 !!! And iff the customers of Mammoet order a stronger, biger crane they run out Sarens with big eas, MSG or PTC wil do the job very well !!

When they say Big Blue was rated 500 tons it means with the specific boom that was on the crane that day and the jib that was on the crane that day with the lifting angles and reach as configured that day. With other configurations Big Blue could lift 1500 tons. A salesman who tells you his crane can lift 500 tons to 400 ft. may tell you his crane is the biggest another salesman who says his crane can lift 1000 tons to 250 ft. will tell you his is the biggest. "Biggest crane in the world" is just a sales pitch.
