There also had been a narrow gauge railway (2ft 6inch, like the Puffing Billy railway in Australia) from Nanu Oya to Ragala via Nuwara Eliya. It used to be the most scenic railroad in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately it was shut down in 1942

Interesting to see you exploring SL as a local. Yeah the fruit you eat at last is amberlella they cook when get ripe. Try to explore Northern part of SL which has entirely different culture and food.
Amberella = june plum / hog plum Can be eaten raw directly with salt, pepper, vinegar , chillie powder. Can be cooked raw with sugar chillie powder, salt, spices (you had it with rice) Can be cooked raw into chutney Can be made into jam with sugar The ripen fruit is delicious too. Some even make the leaves to a mallum (salad)

Hey Travis, lovely to watch you guys travel around Sri Lanka. As for the sweet thingy you ate, it's not a vegetable it's a fruit called umbarella. Also knows as golden Apple and many other names. You can Google it ☺️ Mango is another fruits which is cooked like Ambarella to be served with rice and curry. Hope you enjoy the food and the nature of Sri Lanka.

24:46 That is June plum. It is a fruit as well as a vegetable. You can even make fruit juice out of it. I have seen trees full of June plums in Australia as well

A beautiful train & this service was well needed for a long time. A bit surprised that the inspector who looked at your ticket, didn't make you aware that you were sitting in the wrong class.
