World's Tallest Man, Robert Wadlow - RARE COLOR FOOTAGE! 

I just wanna give credit to the guy who stitched a 10 foot suit perfectly

I hope people treated him as a treasure and not a freak.

His body was tall, but his life was short. Rest in peace legend.

I grew up in Alton, Illinois and my mother went to school with Robert Wadlow. He was never treated as anyone different in his hometown and was well-respected.

Crazy thing is that his condition isn't what caused his death. He wore braces and caught an infection due to a blister in his leg. That ultimately killed him.

Imagine going to a concert and he's in front.

As someone who lives near Alton, it’s incredible to see footage of probably the most famous man from this area.

Lol imagine the head rushes when he stands up too fast.

He was apparently the sweetest guy you'd ever want to meet. A real gentle giant. Never bemoaned his fate or got angry at people gawking at him. It's no surprise that thousands of people attended his funeral.

Imagine seeing him walking out of the forest with a black suit

He lived a short life riddled with intense physical pain towards the very end. He was a kind and intelligent man with a good upbringing.

Whenever I see that 9’0” clearance sign at the drive thru, It reminds me how tall Robert Wadlow was. He would’ve been taller if he lived longer because I remember they said he was still growing every time they measured him. Would’ve been over 9’0” for sure.

Todays tall guys look just very tall but Robert is a true giant. He looks like from some fairytale.

A man who looked down on everyone he met.

I remember seeing him in The Guinness Book of World Records when I was a kid and it amazed me. Now seeing this and other videos about his short life puts it in perspective. Sadly, he was only 22 when he died. His shoe size was 37AA and his coffin was 10 ft 9 in long.

As a kid, I was always mesmerized by him looking at his picture in the Guinness Book of World Records.

He could have cleaned house gutters for a living. Imagine all the frisbees he could have retrieved.

Imagine constantly feeling like a freak show because that's exactly how people labeled him. Can't imagine him trying to live a normal life....RIP Robert.... you were a gentle man....

My mother met him at one of those appearances in Missouri. She said they put one of his shoes in a shoe store in town, and people tried to guess how many pennies it held, for a prize. Turned out the shoe store owner had stuffed the shoe with newspaper, and just put a few on top.

We're basically talking about a 9 foot tall human being. I'm not certain but I think he was still growing when he died.

He was the kind of guy everyone looked up to!

He was so well admired. Everyone he ever met looked up to him.

I can't even imagine seeing someone that tall! life must have been incredibly difficult for him and I cant help but to feel great empathy towards him.

I can't help but feel a lot of sympathy for this guy. He was truly a "gentle" giant. I can imagine he would get tired of all the gawker's and with all the comments that people would make about him.

Very sad. He had a pituitary tumor that caused gigantism. By all accounts, he was a charming, gentle and happy young man, even though his life was pain, social isolation and suffering from begining to end. Rest in peace.

I could not believe the size of him. Standing next to people. He seemed like a very nice guy. And he did not let his height bother him he look just like a normal regular everyday person. And his town loved him

I think he was 8'11 and was still growing when he died. The fact that he was only 22 makes me wonder how tall he could've gotten in even another 20 years. Definitely over 10 feet tall

I used to live in his hometown when I was little, I would always play at the park where his memorial statue is. :)

My great grandmother has a photo with him when she was 12, she said looking straight up to him it looked he was bending over top of her like skyscrapers can give that illusion and that his voice was very very deep.

I remember when I was a kid I'd always specifically look at the heights of people on playing cards, or in the character bio's of fighting games. I was fascinated by the idea the being tall. My dad has a picture of him with Sandy Allen who was the tallest woman at the time. I remember using a to tape measure to measure out 8'11 & 1/10" and just being blown away by how tall that was and how awesome I thought it would be.
