World's Tallest Water Slide | POV Video 

@David Vitrano The ride wasn't properly designed by engineers, but rather through trial and error by amateurs. As a result the ride had a serious issue that it would send rafts literally flying off of the hill. This issue can be seen in videos of the prototype and later the original version of the full scale ride. When first built the hill had a standard parabola shape, but this was changed to the straight ramp shape which the ride opened with. While the redesign somewhat fixed the issue with the flying rafts, to guarantee safety the passengers in the rafts had to reach a certain total combined weight, and the weight also had to be distributed evenly a certain way. For whatever reason the raft the boy rode on didn’t meet those standards. The ride had one other huge flaw: the netting over the slide held up by steel supports was a death trap at the speeds the slide would reach. The raft flew over the hill and the boy was thrown into the netting, hitting a support and being decapitated. The ride should've never been built, much less opened to the public at a at the time reputable park. The complete lack of oversight and regulation of the industry in the state of Kansas allowed this insanity to go ahead, with the ride not even undergoing any sort of safety evaluation to determine whether or not it was safe to ride. It is tragically and morbidly ironic in a way that the victim of this would be the son of a Kansas state legislator (that is not to imply any fault on the part of the kid or his family obviously that was not the case).

+gamerp0pstar3 Okay, I understand how being too light and too short could be a problem, but how does his age affect ANYTHING? See, if the kid reached the hight and weight requirement, why does it matter how young the kid was? It doesn't change any physics. It was most likely a human error.

Since there was so much force and power on the ride his harness broke after the raft went airborne cause there wasn't enough weight and his head just ya know from all of the power and force (lol it's hard to explain but just think about how fast and powerful the ride was on top of the raft going airborn )

Also where the nets were attached there was metal poles that his head supposedly got caught on to

He was placed in the middle, with much less weight than the other 2 riders. When it goes up the hill, it launches you out for a second just like in a roller coaster. But the weightlessness meant he went flying into the net.

@unlimited3851 That is not how it happened. He was decapitated and killed instantly. Yes, his death was tragic but I feel worse for the parents, the other riders who were with him and anyone who came upon the scene.

his head was off and separate from his body. if you see the crime scene photos you can see the pool of blood and two tarps covering his head and body,. police on the scene confirmed he was decapitated. horrible sight

He was definitely to light to be riding poor kid

He didn't weigh enough and he was smaller than the requirements. His father did not follow the rules and regulations warning to the ride and somehow they still allowed this child to get on. Sad ending. Don't do this at home kids.

+Crystal Reed his father wasn't the one at fault. The company was. They didn't make this ride safe enough for people to follow and they obviously are going to weigh the passengers before they get on (and if the didn't then they are extremely dumb ) so that they know it's enough weight. The dad wasn't like "oh go on this ride even tho you do t meet the requirements" no. The main requirements were you had to be at least 54 inches tall and a few years back you had to be at least 14. It wasn't the boys fault or his dad's, etc it was the workers fault and the people that made this slide and didn't make it safe enough for people to actually rice!

You're wrong about the water slowing it down, the water is jet propelled to push the slide up to the top and to help it maintain it's speed, if it was any slower the slide would fall backwards, that's how he got decapitated not because of it slowing down, but because he was too light and going at 70 mph up the slide and the velcro belt came off making him lift into the air and his neck hitting the metal rail decapitating him

I know it's so annoying, if he didn't die the slide would still be here and I could go on it. That boy is so selfish

david estrada they said his velcro strap came off and my sisters strap has almost came off but also by how fast ur going i dont think it shouldn't matter but they are changing the straps to something instead of velcro and they said he hit the netting too but my dad is 6ft and he doesnt touch the net so...idk exactly how he died
