My sister's boyfriend died in 9/11. He was a great fireman. I'll never forget how sad it was when he died. I am 49 years old and I still remember a guy who came to our house and explained the bad news. RIP Michael. Forever 31.

@@SkyScourgeGod My Aunt's sister worked at the WTC. She worked (if I'm remembering what I was told correctly) right about where the first plane hit, so ultimately she was never found. She was super rad; played piano, loved to sing, loved Disney, always happy to see you and ready to talk about anything. I didn't know the twin towers was also the WTC, I'd somehow missed that bit. So when I first heard that the WTC was attacked I was a bit confused and was thinking of a different building. I can't remember if we had a full day of class, but I remember seeing the towers fall on television and calling my mom, and her telling me "I know. I'm coming to get you right now because your aunt's sister works there." The phone at my aunt and uncle's house practically never stopped ringing. Her parents were already getting ready to go to NYC in the hopes that she was unconscious in a hospital somewhere or there was at least a body to identify. After about a week we knew she was definitely not alive, and a month later we knew there was nothing to bury. I think in a way we knew that all along, but there was always hope? She could have been late for work or had a day off, or for some reason or another had been elsewhere. But we weren't that lucky. I think my cousins and I were the only kids at my school that had lost family; and the history/social studies teachers were absolutely *obsessed* with showing the footage in class and it was so awkward. Cause I didn't want to bring attention to myself and my cousin as we sat there, but the teachers didn't ever ask, y'know? They just assumed no one had any connections.
@SkyScourgeGod

@@AniDex Thanks for sharing your story, and I'm sorry for the loss of your aunt's sister. I remember seeing this when I was in 5th grade, but I was too young to truly understand the gravity of what had just happened. I was also in the Army when they caught and killed Osama bin Laden, its amazing how fast time flies. Of course, I always wish everyone could've come home on 9/11 but unfortunately, like yourself, not everyone was lucky enough to have that happen and that's why your story is so important. From one stranger to another, I wholeheartedly wish you and your family the very best.

There was a hotel between the twin towers. A few staff, a litigation lawyer, and a group of firefighters survived the collapse of both towers in there. Ironically, the renovations and repairs after the 93 bombing to the hotel sheltered the group. There is a special on RU-vid called “Hotel 9/11” about the survivors. The Litigation Lawyer was so grateful to the firefighter who saved his life he invited him to his daughters wedding and thanked him again in front of everyone.

I literally cried. RIP all those hero's that are not with us today and all the innocent people whose lives were cut short by cowards. Sad thing is, during Obama's 8 years in office, he never referred to ISIS, Taliban, or Al-Qaeda as terrorists, which they were. When it was announced that steel from the twin towers was used in making the new of the new USS New York, even though I'm from Canada, still felt an overwhelming sense of pride and patriotism. Canada and the US share the world's longest undefended border. Canadians always have and always will feel that our American neighbors are brothers and sisters. :)

It breaks my heart to see that child so happy but not knowing everything that just happened. And it’s because it still reminds me that this happened on the year I was born. The year I was brought to this world and because it was my first time on earth I knew nothing about this tragedy and even though I didn’t have anyone I’m related to involved in this it makes me emotional to know such an event happened on the year I was born. Because that was supposed to be the happiest year for me and my parents. And while I am happy now and I learn to stay strong and move on from the past I can’t believe this happened when I was only a baby. And I hope there are some people who can understand why I get so emotional about 9/11.

As good as it feels for those families that did get their love ones just returned back alive unfortunately not everyone was very lucky and that’s the really sad part that some people had to watch there’s more people are celebrating love ones being returned alive and for them they don’t have that.

Well it is important to remember that hearing and seeing stuff like this is exactly what everyone needs, every life that was saved made that day a little less painful for us all. There was a beautiful scene in where Jimenez’s family looks at all the missing posters in the hospital and they realize how truly lucky they are.

This celebration was heartbreakingly premature. John and Will were in VERY bad shape and thank God they pulled through, but in the context of the film it was so sad seeing their families thinking they were "in the clear". They only ended up in that situation because they decided to go INTO the destroyed tower, unaware another plane even hit the north tower, and unaware that practically all 7 WTC buildings collapsed. (Building 7 was the last one and it fell around 530pm).

I know this is an old comment. But i think it might be similar to Jaws. When Chief Brody and his son are sitting at the table and his son imitates him.
