@undeadsquire782 when you put units in a control group and lock their formation they're attack orders will stay functioning like what you see in this video
@Sp3rmWizrd yeah, if you lock the control group, then order a regular attack on a single unit, they won't funnel to that one unit, but instead attack whatever is in front of them (Like in this video). Next time you play, try putting your whole army in a control group, lock the formation, and tell the group to attack. If should work (at least that's how it works on my game)
Imagine spending a thousand years training in the art of combat to become the best possible fighter anyone could become but then a crazy maniac just casually runs you over with a metal box.
@@Larow17 Wood elves being belgian confirmed I guess. Which goes well in hand with them playing "tall" at home, while having a "hands off" attitude to their colonies.
@@RobinTheBotwell, yes, because at that point the order to surrender was given. Though, those sections which did fight did put up one hell of a fight. The purpose of the maginot line was to essentially force germany to fight in the low countries, instead of attacking France directly at the franco german border. And due to politicial problems in france itself, and lobbying from the lowland countries, the defensive wall was not extended to the coast. Germany didnt win against france because france was stupid, it was because germany put massive effort into preparing for war, while france had internal politicial issues and the matter of war was somewhat ignored. Thats why the french army was so underdeveloped by that time.
The directional block means 100% of 70% block chance from the front, 50% of 70% block chance from the sides (so 35% block chance), and 10% of 70% block chance from the rear (so 7% block chance).
The names on the tanks are perfect 😂 LegendofTotalCheese, Kislev Bias, Fury, WORKING AS INTENDED, Baneblade Scout Tank, First in Praag, CA DON'T FIX, Bob Semple, Karl Franz, Bringer of Tod. The best tank names I've seen for Warhammer 3. All led by the man, the myth, the Legend(of Total War) himself, General Patton. And seeing the Steam Tanks run down all the Wood Elves while all their attacks bounce off the Tank's thick armor as the guns shred everything in sight is beautiful. The Sabaton song Ghost Division would be perfect to play for this doomstack as it rampages across the battlefield.
@@ryanmelaugh7096 Nah, Guderian himself explicitly acknowledges and credits Hobart in his memoires as the true "inventor" of this tactic. Guderian simply took what was pure theory at that point and put it into practice.
It will be nerfed, half of the dlc will. I am not gonna be baited into buying overpowerd and overpriced stuff. Just wait for sale and final form of thats units and faction's. But thats only me, dlc is saling like creazy.
I think the directional missile block chance means it has 100% of 70% (so just 70%) missile block from the front, 50% of 70% (35%) missile block from the side, and 10% of 70% (7%) missile block from the rear. The missile block by the armor stat is being modified by the percentages of the skill in the at the bottom of the stat card based on which direction missiles hit.
Right, but after a certain armor point (~200?), it just doesn't matter anymore, because missiles that aren't above a certain base damage threshold and aren't armor-piercing will be inflicting 0 damage. Legend proved a couple times using different stats. I remember the physical resistance one was with Cylostra Direfin on her ghost crab - was essentially impervious to any small arms fire. I think the time he did it with armor was with Thorek Ironbrow.
@@cristianfatu2088 I mean comparitively to WH 2 you cannot say that the authority system wasnt crap in WH 3 not saying its not managable but it was NOT fun.
@@GutsOfRivia The Authority system being bad or good doesn't make the empire good or crap, it was always a good/op faction despite what you think about the authority.
@@cristianfatu2088 It was okay at best it was never op and if you are just thinking of it late game with 19 hellstorms everyone is op late game and doomstacking. I think you are just huffing some compium rn. The empire was mediocre at best in WH 3
Thanks for showing off my mad max doomstack. I hope CA doesn't fix this for a while since its not that gamebreaking and somewhat time consuming to do. Also can you comment some more funny tank names below I used all of the ones I could think of for this army and I plan on making some more of these tank stacks. The 3 hero units for this, which for some reason didn't have their names show up properly were Baby Driver, Ryan Gosling, and I don't get paid enough for this(the life wizard who was forced to be an engineer).
Fully maxed rot knights might be good at taking them out because in my current Tamurkhan campaign, they have 108 speed, which is crazy good for a heavy, anti-large, Armor pirecing cavalry.
CA's programming for locked formation is just hilariously wrong lmao I thought it would just make the models calculate the closest distance it has to other models of the same unit to stick to until the formation gets unlocked but somehow CA just decides to make the model calculate one specific spot in the entire unit formation to stick to for some reason lmaooooo
@@oscarstaszky1960 it has to accomodate for you having multiple different units in your formation. Though they could store the formation as "unit type" rather than "specific unit" so they distribute "spots" in the formation according to unit type and distance rather than each specific unit going to the opposite end of the formation every time you 180 backflip.
Currently playing a Tama campaign and I gotta say the lvl 7 exalted hero skill for 3 free heals is busted af if you stack multiple! Working on a perfect doomstack to send to legend currently but so far it's defeated 6 armies simultaneously and actually came out with more health than when I attacked! Big shout-out to Okoii for giving me the idea of a hero only campaign after watching one of his pre-release streams! Loving this new DLC and how many potential doomstacks will come of it!
Out of all the doom stacks ive seen Legend cover throughout the years, this one is the most insane to me (not including "bugged" ones like immortal, headless black orks). The way these tanks dash with motorcycle speed is so ridicoulus xD honestly it breaks the immersion for me, they look like modern tanks...
Technically, the Imperial armory explosive canon balls doesn't "apply" to normal steam tanks, but in combat the shots have explosions on impact, even though the stats show no explosive damage.
He is learning how to drive still. And better this way so it's more testing the tanks. Wonder if he gets any of the gunnery school bonuses while on tank, would he be the slowest one? Might need Banner of Swiftness. Although, I think it would be more hilarious to see him charging on a horse amidst the tanks.
I wanted to have Patton in a steam tank but sadly by the time he would be level 20 all of the wood elves would be mulch and I wouldn't have as great of an enemy to show off the stack on.
Proud elven warriors trained in ancient battle techniques stand ready to defend their homeland. *Here Comes The Pain Train starts blasting from the forest*
Empire really feels nice now, at last it can handle the powerful enemies which have sprouted around them after wh1 era. Nuln Ironsides are really cool, the sharpshooters, the hilarious land ship...
GG. Interesting. There are 20 individuals in General Patton's army but the end-game summary states 52 deployed and 52 survived. I wonder if this bug effects auto-resolve.
@@olafthemoose941370% missile block chance means that 7 in 10 shots deals no damage so it is possible but I wouldn't put it past CA to make that happy little accident here
@@olafthemoose9413 close to 0 isn't 0 which is what 100% missile block chance would be. The great book of grudges released a video showcasing the directional block chance by shooting at a tank from all 3 angles with handgunners (so no curved trajectory hitting the back of the tank). It is definitely 100% of 70% missile block chance, which combines with the actual resistances and very high armor to negate a hell of a lot fof damage from the front
My understanding of the directional missile block thing is that it doesn't represent the absolute missile block chance but the missile block chance relative to the one indicated by the shield icon. Which would mean you get 70% from the front, 35% in the flanks and 7% in the rear. Alternatively, the tanks might still take damage because some shots are hitting them from above, with their not being a block chance for that direction.
Wayfarer also is extremely good on them since they immediately accelerate to max speed and can freely disengage with their titanic mass. Look hoe good banner of swiftness is now on shock cav
I think the directional missile block shows what % of the unit's block chance is applied. So the steam tank has 100% of 70% block chance from the front, then 50% of that 70% on the sides, for a total of 35%
the missile deflection is either one of two things. "the unit has 100% of its block chance against frontal attacks, less on the sides, almost none on the back" or "the unit has 100% block chance on the front, less on sides, none on back"
I think the only true counter the steam tanks have are other tier 4-5 large monsters that can bog them down and smash em up, but even then they will struggle.
I knew from the moment they announced the missile block chance way back in the 5.0 patch previews that the Wood Elves were suuuuuper fucked. And after the frustration they've given me with their superior ranged abilities, I have no pity.
This does make me think of how for some reason in worlds with magic and technology it always seems like magic never progresses while tech does I will say that nitrous boosting steampunk tanks is such a fun concept
Just watched your thunderbarge video, wondering if the tanks with the resistance, armor and directional block chance would mean this army could beat the 12/10 thunderbarge doomstack our would they draw and both run out of ammo 😂
its it just me or does everyone get directional missle block chance wrong ? isn t it multiplier like they wrote in the patch notes with 1.0 0.5 and 0.1 is it not 70x1.0 from the front 70x0.5 from the side and 70x0.1 from the back for the steam tank? i am realy not sure but the patch notes made me think that since why should there be a sivler shiled saying 70% block chance if it means nothing
I might be wrong but I think the directional missile block of 100% means you get your full shield worth and it progressively goes down whether or not your attacked from the sides or rear
Reminds me of my all time favorite scene from Band of Brothers. "You had horses, what were you thinking? What the fuck are we doing here???!!!" or whatever the exact quote is.
