Get your glitter ready. WorldPride has officially kicked off in Sydney! It's a huge festival, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. And this year, 13 year old Abie from Broken Hill, is taking her Rainbow Shoelace Project to the big event.
US BALLOON NEWS
US President Joe Biden says there's no evidence that unidentified flying objects spotted in and around America were used for spying. It comes after weeks of high-stakes drama sparked by the discovery of a suspected Chinese spy balloon, which was followed by three more strange sightings in the sky. All of the objects were shot down because of security concerns, but now the President says they probably weren't actually much of a threat at all.
MATILDAS
The Matildas have had a dream start in the Cup of Nation's tournament! The team smashed Czechia last night, 4-nil with legendary Australian defender Clare Polkinghorne captaining the side in her 152nd appearance, the most ever for an Australian player. The Aussies are now set to battle it out with Spain on Sunday.
NT SKIPPERS
Everyone's tried out a bit of skipping in their time, but for a group of skippers in the NT it's competitive business! Meet the Pumper Jumpers! For almost 23 years, this group has been home to some of the Northern Territory's most ambitious and most skilled skippers. And this July, 10 of their members are off to the World Skipping Championships. They're set to take place over 10 days in Colorado in the U.S. And they'll see thousands of participants from at least 30 countries. But it's not a first for the group. Some of these jumping superstars have travelled the world competing including in places like Hong Kong, Sweden, and China. So I think it's safe to say that the Pumper Jumpers' performance at the championships is not to be skipped.
OCTOGENARIAN ZIP LINER
Now to the UK, where an 85-year-old care home resident has decided to do something pretty exciting. This is Sally. And next to her in pink is her daughter Juliet. They've come to an old slate quarry site in Wales to make one of her dreams come true. You see, this old quarry is home to the world's fastest zip line. And Sally is about to get suited up! Sally flew past the quarry, at speeds of around 160 kays per hour. It's all happening because Sally put in a request at her care home's annual wishing tree where residents can ask for anything from trying an extreme sport to meeting the pope! And this time, she got her wish!
