I am currently creating new ideas on some new cage pieces in the future. Will be working on them in January. New pieces will consist of designs that seem to defy the laws of physics. I think people will be walking away scratching their heads on this next batch I will be making. To give a hint: some of the new pieces will not use screws or glue what-so-ever.
I would be interested in purchasing the instructions on how you made everything since my husband is a pretty handy person. My chins would love to have a cage like that!
Would you ever consider selling the schematics for the pieces? I'm a handy person and would love to take one of these pieces on as a project or something.
Because I noticed that you only showed prices for certain items. Does that mean you are only selling certain things? Your wood work is just so amazing and Im sure my Chin would ABSOLUTELY LOVE her cage with that wood work. Her name is Bijou. I only have 1. She is still only 1 year old. So please let me know if I can buy all the stuff in that cage. I wouldn't mind waiting for all that to be made. I will keep checking this page for a response because this is the only I found to contact you. Thanks
I was incorrect on my pricing Ace, The real prices are now posted on the channel. Some adjusted down quite a bit which is good for the consumer :). Have started building the homes and shelving. Will hopefully have something up soon to sell the parts.
Your cage looks amazing, although I have issues on wood all over the place, once they pee the stain and smell stay on it. That's why I like fleece for the floor setting and wood for chews and house only..
I'm considering buying a chinchilla. Of course I would want the best cage for it and I do believe i have found it. In all how much would all of this cost? I'm trying to see how much money I would be spending. Also, is it just the wooden pieces you're selling or do you sell he cage as a whole? i would love love love to know how you made all of this! thank you!
K. Bo. I just bought this exact cage 2 weeks ago for my first 2 baby chins They Love It!! It’s the (Double Unit Model #182) I bought mine off Amazon for $260 had it in 2 days 👍🏼 Replacing everything inside here soon hopefully, that’s why I’m watching this lol 😉
What kind of wood did you use? I have made a few pieces with pine and my chinchilla loves them but I got a bigger cage and am wanting to build some more pieces and came here looking for inspiration.
I would LOVE to buy a cage off of you. I would buy the cage if you could just do the wood work for me! I would pay what ever you want! This is an amazing design and you should start a business. Please if you are interested I would love to talk more about it!
Good question. The huts I am using 1" thick wood. Lets take the hut in the top right corner for example. The wood to make that piece cost $17.41 plus tax for 8 feet of wood. $33.43 plus tax for 8 feet of 12" wood. Generally that piece takes about 66" of wood to build. Now include the cost of washers, Hanger bolts, Wing nuts, Pegs etc. The total cost to build this piece in parts is a little over $20. Then include labor time into that. Each hut, due to their complexity on some, take.....
This cage is amazing and i know my chinchilla, jack jack, would love it. my mom and i are pretty handy when it comes to building so would you possibly consider selling blueprints?
...upwards to 4 hours to build not including glue time. On average I am making in the ballpark of around $5-$7 an hour on this. You speak of your ledges. Yes ledges do not take long at all to make. Nor do they take a lot of wood to make either. Generally a ledge for me to make with a guard takes about 5-10 minutes. Ledges are not difficult to make and most people do end up making those on there own.
Hello my name is Elicia and I recently obtained a Chinchilla from my boyfriend brother. I'm still new to this. and i want to give my Chin the best cage possible. I have the Critter Nation cage. I saw that in your video that Misty is in the critter nation cage you really customized that cage to AWESOME LEVELS !!!! I also noticed that you showed prices during the video. My question is how much would you charge if i wanted that entire cage? The whole thing top to bottom, made and shipped to me.
what happens if the chinchilla pees or poops in those wood floors? because I had a cage with wooden floors and my degus peed so now, 1 year later, all the levels are destroyed and I can't clean it with water because of the type of wood I chose (my bad..)
All of it was self taught. Been tweaking my skills at this for the past couple of years. From the first pieces I made until now is a huge quality difference in what I make.
I do plan to. I am still working on building a website for selling all these items. I am also trying to cut cost as much as possible so the price is at a reasonable amount for the consumer. For now it is difficult to determine rates, my goal is to get rates ranging $15 for the special type shelving to $40-$70 for the complex homes. The giant piece I made is simply too complex and too costly to make, it would cost over $200 alone in supplies and labor time. Let alone the cost to ship(45lbs).
I am working on a website to sell all the pieces. However, running into a few problems with the site. But I am thinking about starting to put some of my inventory on craigslist just so I can start selling to the public. Will update soon on this.
I am interested in making a purchase from you. I had e-mailed you about a week ago but haven't heard nothing back from you yet in regards to this. The piece I wanted was the "the top left piece". If you could please email or call me back...thank you
Sorry for the delay. Have been working long hours at work. retail work is tough this time of year. I do have the piece in the top left hand corner available. Please email me again for more information Ja'lisa, thanks.
Top left piece: (Misty's Hideaway - $75 + S&H) Top hanging tunnel: $20 + S&H Top Right Hut ( Cappuccinos Retreat - $55 + S&H) Hut underneath (Bolt's Hidden Cove - $62 + S&H) Corner Shelf on Top Right door: $17 + S&H Hut on Bottom right door: ( Mayday's Tower - $70 + S&H) Perch with hanging toy: $12 + S&H 7" Perches with guard starting at $5
Honestly, the cage was made to show the different types of pieces I make for customers. Also, over time I am watching to see how long they last. So far, they have been in the cage since late Jan. and have had only minor chewing on the wood. No severe damage what-so-ever. Will make a video soon on the wear and tear of the pieces over time.
Fleece pieces for now. Working on a project to have fleece in the homes without them trying to remove it and also an absorbant at the same time just in case of accidents.
Nice job man. I want to build one cage on my own, and I'm thinking of making sides out of wood, just one or two sides out of wires. Do you think it's possible? What about urine and wood? Thanks in advance
My chinchilla chews on wood and plastic. You might want to cover the wood so your chinchilla wont eat it. Believe me, my chinchilla ate his little platforms
Hello iether, I have a few questions for you about purchasing & shipping ~ where are you located? I have sent you an email (email address found in another msg) We have 2 chinchillas that would love your carefully thought out additions to their home. Do you have a website set up? Hope to hear from you soon :)
